Stuck in-between Episode 3

*EPISODE 3*
(STUCK IN BETWEEN)

Weeks passed and Susan was yet to receive any call or text from Gabriel. She tried to move on but she constantly found herself stalking him on social media. Checking his last seen on WhatsApp and his recent posts on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. It broke her heart that Gabriel had moved on with his life like nothing happened. He kept posting pictures of him smiling happily while hanging out with friends.

To worsen the situation, he posted a half picture of him and an undisclosed girl wearing the same shoes. This broke Susan’s heart completely. She fell ill again and inferiority complex set in. She felt she wasn’t good enough. She questioned her worth and thought lowly of herself. She started uploading heart breaking posts and memes online hoping to catch Gabriel’s attention cause they were still friends online and they still followed each other on Instagram. Sometimes she stepped out to take cute pictures which she uploaded online all to make Gabriel see what he had been missing. But nothing changed.

Meanwhile all these while, Doctor Stanley who was in his 30s, had been calling and texting her hoping to get her attention. But all her mind, body and soul were fixed on Gabriel. Hoping that he would come back like he used to. But three months passed and he was nowhere to be found.

“Look Suzy. I think it’s high time you gave doctor Stanley a chance. That young man looks responsible and promising to me. He has been patiently waiting for your response for the past three months. Why are you keeping him waiting?. Why not give him a chance to prove his love for you?. Why are you hell bent on killing yourself over Gabriel that doesn’t care about your existence?.” Lilian asked one afternoon when she caught Susan ignoring Stanley’s calls.

“Lilian for goodness sake let me be!. How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t like Stanley?. He is not my type don’t you get it?.” Susan yelled.

“Really?. He is not your type?. Then who is your type?. Gabriel?. You’ve got to be kidding me Susan. Okay let’s say Gabriel is your type then what about him?. How are you certain that you are his type?. Look girl, I won’t stop telling you the truth even if it means us becoming enemies. I’m like an elder sister to you here. And I won’t watch you go astray. No matter what happens, I will make sure you make the right decision.” Lilian said.

“I’m no longer a child Lilian. I know what’s best for me and what’s not. So quit ranting and nagging about this issue please.” Susan said hissing. She stood up and walked out of the room slamming the door behind her.

“If you are not a child, then I expect you to act as one Susan. Grow up and stop killing yourself over that good for nothing boy.” Lilian shouted.

One fateful thursday, Susan was on her way back from lectures when a car drove passed her and slowly came to a halt in front of her.

“Who is this stupid driver that doesn’t know how to drive?.” She asked hissing angrily.

As she tried walking away in anger, the driver whined down the glass of his front door and called out to her.

“Hey Suzy.” The man called.

Turning around, Susan realized that it was doctor Stanley. She could not explain the kind of hate and anger she felt for him at that moment.

“What is it?. Are you now stalking me or what?.” She asked rudely.

“Are we quarreling?.” Stanley asked totally amazed.

“Yes Stanley. As a matter of fact, I don’t like anything about you. Stop forcing yourself on me. Is it not enough that you won’t let me rest through your endless calls and texts?. Now you want to be stalking me as well?. Are you obsessed with me or what?.” She shouted rudely.

Stanley could not help but stepped out of his car.

“Come on Susan. It’s not what you think. I like you in all honesty. Infact, I see a future with you. If you would only give me a chance to prove myself to you.” He pleaded walking close to her.

“Hahahaha…” Susan burst into laugher. This made Stanley looked stupid. “You see future with me?. Oh come off it. If I didn’t know men better, I would have fallen for your cheap lies. All you want is my body. And when you’ve gotten it, you will zoom off like the man you are.” Susan said.

“I beg to differ susan. Not all men are after a woman’s body. Just so you know, s*x is one of the most cheapest and affordable thing any loosed man can get anywhere. Real men are not moved by a woman’s body which is bound to change with time. We are moved by what we see in a woman. Her charisma and character. I’m seeking for companionship and a productive partnership. I’m not here for sexual exploitations. So if you would allow me, I would like us to get to know each other better. I don’t have the intention of wasting your time. I’m here for serious business.” Stanley said.

“Hmmmmm. And you want me to believe you?. Men and their cheap lies.” Susan scoffed.

Stanley walked closer and held her left hand.

“Not all men are thesame Susan. Give me a benefit of doubt. Give me the opportunity to prove my sincerity to you. And if at the end, you still do not love me, then you are free to walk away.” Stanley said.

“Alright. I will let us date on one condition.” Susan said.

“Anything Susan. As long as it’s for the good of our relationship.” Stanley said without hesitating.

“Can we date for three months without s*x?.” Susan said.

“No problem. If that’s what you want. I’m in for it Susan.” Stanley said with a broad smile. “Can I drop you off?.” He asked pointing at his car.

“Sure.” Susan answered smiling back at him.

When he dropped Susan off, Lilian was over excited to see them together for the first time in three months. She applauded her roommate for taking a step forward.

Stanley and Susan started going out on dates. Gradually and slowly, Susan’s heart started opening up to Stanley who was nothing but a perfect gentleman. He was a family oriented man who had better plans for his future family. He was the first man to ask Susan of what her dreams were. And this made Susan realized how carried away she had been all these years. Through Stanley, she came to redefine her purpose, ambitions and dreams.

He was a very intelligent and romantic man who treasured her with everything in him. Three months passed and he never asked Susan for s*x. It was a thing of surprise to Susan who was now willing and ready to let him have a taste of her. She was planning to sleep over at his place for the first time during weekend. While she was getting dressed, a text popped up on her screen.

She unlocked her phone and tapped on the message only to realize that it was a text from Gabriel. She opened the text and it read,

“Hi sugar. I’m truly sorry for everything. I’ve realized my mistakes and I’m ready to build a serious relationship with you. There are lots of things that I would like us to talk about. Please don’t say no or else I would kill myself. Come meet me at King’s hotel I’m in room 203. Please I would be waiting. See you soon. I love you ๐Ÿ’•.” The text said.

Seeing this text, Susan’s heart wavered. She was now stuck in between going back to her ex, or remaining in her new found relationship.
