Frank woke the next morning with a strong sense that someone was staring at him. He opened his eyes, and smiling down at him was Ana. They had such a great night, and now she was fully dressed. “I got to go.” She said and tapped the tip of his nose with her index finger.
“What time is it?” Frank asked as he sat up in bed.
“It’s 6:30 am.” She said, looking at her wristwatch.
Frank rubbed his eyes a few times before saying, “Let me drop you off.”
She gently pushed him back when he tried to get off the bed. “I already ordered a ride, and the driver is almost here.”
“Wait, it’s a Saturday. Where are you rushing off too?”
“I have a few errands to run for someone.” She said and looked at him long, with a smile on her face before leaning in and kissing him. She pulled back and continued to look at him excitedly. “I had a great time last night. Call me later, you hear?” She added before getting off the bed and heading towards the room door. She looked at him one last time at the door before stepping out.
Frank rubbed the back of his neck, and looked around the room. She had cleaned the place while he slept; it was cleared of the pizza box, wine bottle, and every other thing from last night. The clothes he had given her to wear and his clothes were neatly folded on the bed, next to him. He got off the bed, grabbed his phone by the bedside stool and headed out the room. As he walked over to look out the living room window, he caught her stepping out the gate, and heard the sound of a car engine. A few seconds later, he heard the car door open, and slam, and then the car zoomed off.
He called up his friend, Wale as he headed towards the door.
“What’s up?” Wale said on the end of the line, excited when he picked up.
“I’m cool.” Frank said and yawned as the locked his entrance door. “She just left. I think I will need her over again tonight.” He said and his friend started laughing. “So, I will probably just send you 40k for yesterday and today. You can let her know I want her over tonight too.” His friend kept on laughing. “Why are you laughing bro?”
“I have to tell you something.”
“What?” Frank said and froze, wondering what his friend could want to tell him.
“She’s not a call girl.”
“Yeah, I understand she just does it once in a while.”
“No, you don’t understand. She has never done anything like this before.”
“What? I don’t understand.”
“She’s my colleague.”
The line was silent for a while and then Frank asked, “She’s your colleague?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t understand. Why…why would she do this for money?”
Wale laughed a little more before saying, “Long story short, she saw you at my sister’s wedding earlier on in the year, and fancied you. She has been asking me to connect her with you ever since.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah; But you kept shutting me down whenever I brought up the conversation of hooking you up with someone.” He stopped talking to whisper something to someone and continued with, “She stopped asking of you after a while, but then she saw you again at the Salah party I invited you for a few weeks ago.”
“Hmm…”
“I knew she really liked you, and I had to come up with another way to hook you guys up.”
It was Frank’s turn to laugh now. “You’re mischievous genius.” He said between laughs.
Wale laughed some more before saying, “Thanks for the complement.”
“So…”
“She thought it was a ridiculous idea at first, but I spent time convincing her that it would work.”
Still laughing, he said, “This is really crazy. It’s like something from a movie.”
“Bro, I have to go now. I have a girl here with me and she is getting inpatient. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay.” Frank said and ended the call.
He leaned on the door, and went through everything that happened last night. He shook his head with a smile on his face. He dialed her number, and waited for her to pick up.
“Hey… Hi.” She said on the other end of the line.
He laughed a little before saying, “I just got off the phone with Wale. He told everything.”
“Oh. I see.” She said and laughed lightly.
“I love it. I actually love it.” He said and there was silence.
“So…”
“I’d like to you see you tonight.”
“Okay.”
“I want to take you out some place; I want us to go on a proper date.”
“Cool.”
“Wait, but your name is really Ann, right?”
“Yeah, my name is Ann.” She said between laughs.
“Okay. I can’t wait to see you tonight.”
“Me too.”
“Have a nice day.”
“You too.”
When the line went dead, he stood there, still amazed at how unconventional the idea was, and how he probably would never have agreed to meet her if Wale wanted them to go on a regular first date. He couldn’t deny the fact that he admired her, and he already knew she liked him, so their plan worked perfectly. Now they just had to get to know each other some more, spend some quality time together, and let the love grow naturally.
“What an experience. What an experience.” Frank said to himself, looking into space, with a smile on his face.
The End
What an amazing story
