NIGHTCLUB CHRONICLES
Chapter 4
He came close to me and pushed me. His breath stank of cheap alcohol and this got me annoyed the most. I fell on the soft sofa in the VIP section. As I tried to support myself while falling backwards, the bottle I was holding, fell on the floor and broke.
I picked the bottle and aimed at his head. He dodged just in time and gave me a hard punch in the tummy. The force of the punch almost knocked me out. He was big and huge, reason why they had selected him to fight for them. I realized that I was in a difficult situation and decided to change strategy.
I climbed onto the soft sofa so that I could match his height. I aimed a kick at his groin that made him stagger for some fifteen seconds and bent double, holding his crotch, his eyes in excruciating pain. The fifteen seconds was all I needed. I jumped down from the chair and punched his stomach hard. He staggered backwards, regained himself and came at me. I sidestepped quickly and pushed him from behind. He fell heavily on the sofa and I gave him another solid kick in his stomach.
By now the club was in disarray. People were running helter skelter for safety. Girls were screaming and ducking behind tables. The DJ didn’t seem to notice us. He kept playing his music. I didn’t see any bouncer too who could help stop the fight. I was going to finish him off with a punch in the face when I was held from behind by his there friends. I was in danger here but just then, four hefty bouncers showed up and separated us.
“What happened here?” The one who seemed to be their leader asked.
“These guys attacked me?” I said, breathing heavily. “I had to defend myself.”
“What exactly happened?” The bouncer asked, turning in the direction of the guys.
They refused to answer. As a result, they were all escorted out of the club. One of them raised his hand as they were leaving and made a motion at me as if to say “this is not over yet”. I ignored him.
Tercy and Nessa came to me and wiped my body with their handkerchiefs. I told them I would be ok.
Ten minutes later, everything was back to normal and we were drinking and nodding to the sound of music. The DJ played a song that Tercy loved very much. She got up and started dancing, alone. The guy in white made a motion for her to come over. She ignored him. The guy walked up to her and tried to dance with her. She refused. The guy applied force and she spat a good dose of Bavaria in his face.
He was blinded for a while as he moved back to his seat. After he had wiped his face, he started moving towards us again. I immediately knew another trouble was coming. Before I could make a move, he had reached where Tercy was dancing and slapped her.
I sprang from my chair like a trapped animal and would have loved to hit him but I realized I was just from fighting a bunch of guys. So I stood between her and Tercy to prevent any further escalation. Tercy however was having none of my peace making. She was screaming and struggled to hit the guy but I kept separating them. Finally, she used the half empty Bavaria container and shot at the guy, spraying the non-alcoholic lager beer all over his body.
He came forward, trying to hit her again. I stopped him. With great difficulty, his friends succeeded in taking him back to their table. Nessa and I also dragged Tercy to our table. Tercy was fuming.
“Ric, it’s not over yet. I have to get that guy.” She said angrily.
“But you can’t.” I replied. “He’s a man and you can’t stand him.”
“That’s what you think.” If I don’t get him here, I will get him in town.”
“Ok! Get him in town if you want. But as far as I am concerned, there will be no more fighting here.”
Just when Nessa and I thought we had succeeded to calm her down. We saw the guy in white coming again. He moved up to our table, went on one knee as if to apologize to Tercy for being violent on a woman. I was happy that finally we were going to resolve this peacefully. Little did we know that Tercy was still greatly aggrieved and spat on the boy’s face again.
He retreated back to his seat, got his friends and they moved towards our table.
