MY ROOMMATE AND THE MAN FROM THE GRÀVEYARD
Episode 7

I felt pity for her. I thought of going to the toilet to help her; to save her but Fear didn’t let me stand up from the bed, let alone going towards the toilet. I remained calm, quivering and wishing that my boyfriend or Victoria’s boyfriend would come and save us.

After some minutes, Victoria came out. There was strains of blóod all over her body. She could not walk properly; she was weary.
I quickly went to her and held her. She was walking as though, she was going to fall down.
“What happened to you? Why do you have strains of blóod on your body?” I whispered.
Victoria couldn’t answer me. She had been sobbing and as soon as I asked her why she had strains of blóod, she started crying out aloud.
“Talk to me Victoria. What did that man do to you” I whispered again.
Victoria didn’t say a word. Instead, she cried more and more.
I took her to her bed and started cleaning her up. While I was cleaning her up, I asked her again what the man did to her. As she opened her mouth to talk, the man appeared.
“Do you want to try me?” He asked Victoria angrily. “You dare not open your mouth to say a word!” He warned and refused to disappear or should I say he refused to become invisible.
After cleaning Victoria’s injuries on her legs and hands, which were the only part of her body she allowed me to see and clean the injuries. She had injuries on other parts, from her laps up to her chest but she didn’t allow me see it. I sat on my bed and wondered why my boyfriend and Victoria’s boyfriend hadn’t called or come to check on us. It’s not in their habit to stay for an hour without calling or coming over to see us. Knowing that we didn’t return the same time with them, should be a good reason for them to call or come check on us.
I was still lost in thought when my phone rang. I looked at the caller. Finally, it was my boyfriend Michael. I reached out for my phone and the man shouted at me:
“Do not answer that call! Else…!”
I startled; my hand shaked and the phone fell off. I didn’t pick up my phone. I was scared. I didn’t want him to do to me what he did to Victoria even though I didn’t know what he did to Victoria. But whatever he had done to her was terrible because she had bloód stains all over her body.
My phone rang for five more times and I didn’t answer. Then Victoria’s phone began to ring. It was James her boyfriend calling. She also didn’t answer. The phone rang and rang and non of us answered. The man asked us not to answer with a threat that he would do something terrible to us. I began to pray in my heart that Michael and James should suspect that something was wrong with us and as such, they should run over to our house to rescue us.
“I know that in some minutes time, your boyfriends will come here” the man said. “When they come, you must pretend like nothing happened to you. You must pretend like I’m not here and you must not tell them about me. If you do, I will kîll them and I will still do to you whatever I wish to do to you”
My heart started to beat fast. I imagined him kîlling our boyfriends if we tell them about his presence. I wondered what he had been doing to Victoria and I imagined what he would do to me.
I don’t want him to do to me whatever he was doing to Victoria yet I wished to tell my boyfriend and my family about him and I must tell at any chance I get. I told myself.
“Now go change your clothes!” The man ordered Victoria. “Also wash your face and put on a smile”
Victoria refused to get up. She remained lying down as if she didn’t hear what the man said.
“I said go change your clothes!’ the man roar and sudden cold wind blew, shaking our door, cottons and wardrobe and scattering out books, clothes and other lite things in the room.
Fear gripped me. Victoria quickly sat up. The man dragged her out of bed and made her to go change her clothes and wash her face.
The moment Victoria came back to her bed, Michael and James came knocking at the door.
“Oh thank you God! We are safe now!” I exclaimed in my mind. “Once I go to get the door open for Michael and James, the first thing I will do is to tell them about the man” I told to myself.
The knock at the door came again and I stood up and made to go get the door opened but the man ordered me to remain sitting.
“Don’t move an inch!” He ordered. I will get the door opened.
He flew or disappeared. I don’t know which one he did but I know that he went to the door and got it opened within a twinkle of an eye. And he came back to the room and showed himself to us, then he became invisible.
Michael was the first to come into our room. I didn’t know what James was doing outside or at the sitting room.
“You guys didn’t lock your door?” Michael asked in a half statement and half question tune.
“There is a ghost man in our room! He has been tormenting Victoria!” I shouted to him quickly
“A ghost man in your room?” Michael asked confused.
“Yes! There’s a ghost man tormenting Victoria and I” I replied quickly and in that same quickness I got up, running to him. But before I could get to him, the ghost man gave him a resounding slap that sent him straight to the floor and Michael became unconscious.
“I warned you! You must not talk!” The ghost man said to me.
I rushed Michael and held him on the floor.
“Babe! Michael! Please wake up!” I cried, shaking him. That moment, James came in and was surprised to see me crying and calling out on Michael who laid unconsciously on the floor.
To be continued.
