LIFE IMPRISONMENT 30
WRITTEN BY: GRACE OLAYEMI
“Pray for your brother. That’s the best gift you can give him for his birthday this year. Pray that God would save his soul. Pray that his hardened heart would be soften.” Abraham continued to dish out prayer points to Comfort. She was so worried after their last conversation on the phone and had called back later that day to clarify her doubt but she was met with more confusion.
“I will just send money to orphanages here since I’m faraway from home.”
“No! That won’t be necessary. Please, pray for Da…. pray for your brother. He needs all the prayers he can get now. If possible, tell your prayer partners so you can start a chain prayer for him. All he needs now is God’s mercy.”
Comfort’s agitation increased.
“Just tell me what’s going on because I don’t understand your sudden over interest in my brother. I have been praying for him before and I’ll continue to pray for him. But, tell me whatever it is that has prompted this your hyper interest in praying for him.”
Abraham didn’t know what to say. He didn’t want to tell her yet. He wanted things to be right before telling her anything.
“Or, do you sense anything about him? Maybe a dream or something?” She asked and a spirit nugged him to affirm that but he knew that would be partially wrong. He kept quiet.
“The truth is I have been having frightening dreams about him for about three months now and I’ve intensified my prayers for him,” Comfort kept talking. She got emotional whenever she talked about Ranti.
“Let’s just pray for him.” Abraham seized that opportunity to turn the radar from himself and he sighed for relief when they changed the topic.
“How is Danger’s case going?” She asked and brought him back to the spot he was glad to have left.
“It’s going well.”
“Is he now co-operating?”
“You ask too many questions. Just keep on sending your prayers and taking care of yourself and the children. That is enough for me.”
“I’ll do that. When is the court hearing?”
“Haha! Comfort! You and questions, ehen, you are five and six. It’s on the 23rd of this month.”
“Wow! That’s on my brother’s birthday. I’ll surely remember,” she said casually and it dawned on Abraham that Danger would be prosecuted on his 40th birthday. He sighed and wished something supernatural would happen that would turn everything around for good.
“Can any good thing come out of Danger’s case?” He asked himself and sighed again.
“Sigh one more time and I’ll fly back home first thing in the morning,” Comfort’s voice brought him back and he wanted to sigh again.
“Let Jesus handle the case. He is more than able.” She encouraged him and they prayed together before they bade each other farewell.
“If only she knew how complicated everything had become.” he sighed again.
