HER GHOST 6
…. my face suddenly turned pale like all the blood in it was drained.
Right in the room was Jenny staring at us.
With a great force I jammed the door. And hurried off.
“Abby are you okay?”
Joy asked running after me. I gradually reduced my pace.
“What’s going on with you?”
She asked placing a hand on my shoulder, with confusion written all over her face.
“Did you see anyone?”
I didn’t know when I said those words, but they gave me out finally.
“I saw no one”.
She replied and stared intently at me.
At that moment I knew opening up to Joy was the best thing to do. I was sure she was going to understand me.
“Let’s get out of here please”
We walked a few distance before settling down in a restaurant close by.
“Joy…”
I began
“Do you think ghosts exist?
Dropping the battle of malt she was holding on the table she looked into my eyes searchingly, like she lost a treasure in them. Obviously she wasn’t expecting such a question from me.
“It’s just like asking me if aliens really do exist.
The universe is a large place, a lot of things are in existence which we do not know about. As long as I have never met one, I can’t tell””
She said shrugging her shoulders.
“I have seen and lived with one…Jenny was actually a ghost Joy.”
Joy stared at me in shock and utter bewilderment. She opened her mouth, closed and repeated the same action. She obviously wanted to say something but words failed her. All she could do was to shift uneasily in her seat.
I lowered my head in self pity. Just what have I gotten myself into? How could I have trusted a total stranger to the point of moving in with her? I was the architect of my own troubles. My heart tightened and I could feel tears making their way down my cheek.
I wiped the tears with the back of my palm and exhaled. A sudden rush of relief came upon me. Indeed crying is therapeutic. Now that i am out nothing is ever going take me back there.
So I thought. Little did I know that it was just the begin
Ha, just what?
