Her Ghost Episode 10

HER GHOST 10

PRESENT

I stared intently at Jenny whose gaze was also fixed on me. I was at a loss of what to say. Truly, I had verbally bullied Deborah years ago but I didn’t mean whatever I had said to her back then.

“Who is Deborah to you?”
I asked but she only flashed me a mischievous smile..
“Look Jenny, I am sorry about what I did to her back then. It was just a joke and…”

“Just a joke you say”
She cut me sharply and I almost jumped out of my skin.

“To you and others it was just and joke. But did you ever cared about how I…felt?”
My eyes almost popped out on hearing the word “I”. Does it mean Jenny is actually Deborah?

“Do you have any idea how far your joke went in shattering my self esteem? ”
She asked with a cold tone snapping me out of my thought.

“Do you have any idea just how I hated myself whenever I looked into the mirror? Why?
Because….you were right. Everything you said back then about me was actually true.”

She said with a shaky voice, blinking continuously in a bid to hid the tears which were now gathered like a little cloud in her eyes.

“At night I cried my eyes out. I questioned my own creator. Just why did he have to create me so different? Why didn’t he make me like you guys? I hated my mom for birthing me into such a cold world”
She paused and turned her back at me, in a bid to hid the tears she were now making their way freely down her cheeks

“And then that cold night when I couldn’t take it any longer, I had ended my own life”
Her words were followed by a long silence. The room was so quiet that one could even hear a pin drop. Suddenly she faced me with red blazing eyes like an erupting volcano.

“Now tell me with was just a joke.”
She said angrily taking a step closer, slowly I took a step backward.

“Tell me you never meant all you said”
“Do you know what my family suffered because of my death?”

“Mom had died of a heart failure because she couldn’t bear losing an only child.”

“You killed me. You ruined my family.”
She thundered angrily taking two steps closer to me with each words she spoke and I kept moving backwards.

Chattering of glasses rented the air as I had unknowingly knocked down the glass cup which was on the table behind me.

Just then the door flung open and I was met with my mom’s inquisitive eyes.
Looking back into the room, I heaved a sigh of relieve.

“She’s gone ”
I muttered
