John was pacing around his living room in so much rage.
Later on, he went on sat on the couch and waited for Linda to return. He was deeply pa.ined.
“How can my wife do this to me? Am I not enough for her? Was she forced? No, she didn’t mention that she was forced. I do all I can to please her and this is what I get in return. Who is even that man that she did it with?”
He brought the phone again and opened the video. He watched the video one more time looking so irri.tated.
“This video was well-edited, I can’t pick the man’s face, showing he has a hand in the black.mail. Linda, how could you be so gullible? Is this how stup.id this woman could be? We just discovered yesterday that she was pregnant. Could the pregnancy be a product of this extra.marital relationship? So many unanswered questions!” he said and heaved a sigh.
“This is so embarrassing. I must trace the man.”
He then checked the number that sent the message and discovered it had no name and there were no previous chats from the number.
He then picked up the number and dialled it on his phone. A name started showing, he cut the call and cross-checked to know whether there was a mistake but the numbers were the same.
“What is happening, I have this number on my phone, Gina. Who is this Gina?”
He became inquisitive and started searching through the phone. He checked the message inbox for the number and recalled who Gina was.
Gina was a girl that he wanted to marry a few years back. He had already fixed a date for their introduction ceremony when he found out that she was still in two different relationships. The girl pleaded with him that she would change but he cancelled the introduction. The girl boldly told him that she would watch and see that angel that he would marry. It did pain him but he was grateful that he didn’t end up with her.
“But what’s the connection, Was Johnphone stolen or is someone using her number? I’ll find out,” John said as he pressed his phone.
John was still baffled at the name he saw, so he decided to call the number with his other number. The person called immediately.
“Hello please am I speaking with Gina.”
“Yes, Gina. How may I help you?”
He immediately ended the call.
“Is this a set-up or something, i must get to the root of this. I know where to find her. This is complicated.”
He continued waiting for Linda to come back.
Linda was still not back till evening and she left her phone with her husband before she ran away.
Later that night, John’s phone started ringing and it was Linda’s mother. He then picked up the call and they exchanged greetings.
“My inlaw, please what is going on.”
“How mama?”
“I came back from my shop a few minutes ago. I learnt that your wife had been here since afternoon. She has been crying but refuses to tell me what the problem is.”
“Is she there with you?”
“Yes, my son.”
“Okay, don’t worry mama. We had a problem.”
“Problem? It’s already too late for me to bring her back. Please I will come with her tomorrow morning so you can tell me what the problem is because she has refused to talk to me about it.”
“No ma, she should stay back. I’m not ready to accept her yet.”
“Tell me what the problem is please.”
‘Another man had been sleeping with my wife.”
“What! Abomination! Linda! Is this how I brought you up? You have brought shame to this family. How could you, Linda? What fididou see in another man?” she yelled at Linda.
John later ended the call when he found out that Linda’s mother wasn’t talking to him but had faced Linda.
The following day, John went and reported the case to the police. Two policemen were later assigned to follow John to Gina’s parent’s place.
When they got to the place, fortunately, they saw Gina leaving with her handbag.
On sighting the police, Gina took to her heels, they chased her and she was later caught.
Her mother rushed out and was shouting.
“John, what has my daughter done to you?”
“Your daughter is a crim.inal, she is leaving with us to the police station,” one of the policemen shouted.
“My daughter is not a crimi.nal. John, if anything happens to my daughter, I’ll hold you responsible,” she kept on shouting.
As soon as they got to the police station, they started interrogating her. She was scared of being tor.tured by the police, so she opened up.
She admitted she was the one who sent the message.
“What is the relationship between you and John’s wife?”
“Nothing, I don’t know her from anywhere. I just ha.ted her because she was the one that John ended up marrying. When I discovered she was falling for my boyfriend, I decided to use that as an opportunity to destroy her marriage. We are not supposed to blackmail her but I noticed that my boyfriend was beginning to fall for her. So I had to stop them.”
