Sophia’s world was crumbling around her. She stood in her living room, her eyes blazing with anger and sadness, demanding answers from her parents. “Dad, Mom, what’s going on? What did you do to Henry’s family?”
Nicolas and Maria remained silent, their faces etched with guilt and regret. Finally, Nicolas spoke up, his voice calm and collected. “Sophia, I’ll explain everything. But first, let’s sit down.”
As they sat down, Sophia’s mind raced with questions. What could her parents have done to warrant such harsh reactions from Henry and his family? Nicolas began to explain, his words painting a picture of betrayal and dece!t.
“Andrew and I were once close friends, colleague at work, but I gave him some bad advice that hurt his family. I told him to prioritize work over family…I forced him to force his wife to work when the babies were small, and it ultimately destroyed their relationships.”
Sophia’s eyes widened in shock as Nicolas continued. “I pressured him so much that I even used your mom as an example while she was pregnant with you…my l!es destroyed his family. I’m so sorry about that. I was angry with him because he refused to lend me money, and in a fit of rage, I told l!es to dece!ve him to destr0y his family…I’m so sorry, Sophia. I never knew my past would find its way back to me. If only I could turn back the hands of time…”
Maria spoke up, her voice filled with emotion. “We’ve wanted to apologize to Andrew for years, but we didn’t know how. I was the one misusing your father’s money and forcing him to take loans from different people. We’re so sorry, Sophia, that our actions have hurt you and Henry’s family.”
Sophia felt a mix of emotions: anger, sadness, and confusion. She didn’t know what to think or feel. But one thing was certain – she needed to talk to Henry and his family again. And she needed to take her parents to apologize to Andrew.
Later that evening, Sophia dialed Henry’s number, her phone trembling in her hand. But the call went straight to voicemail. She tried again and again, but Henry refused to answer.
Determined, Sophia dialed another number – Harry’s. But Harry’s response was curt, his warning clear. “Sophia, don’t call me again. Leave us alone.”
Sophia also tried reaching her would-be mother-in-law, but she didn’t pick up. Sophia calmed herself and decided to visit Henry the next day. The next day, Sophia rushed to Andrew’s place very early, but she wasn’t allowed to cross the gate. The security man had been given strict warnings not to open the gate for Sophia. While banging on the gate, the security man told Sophia clearly, “You are not welcome here.” Sophia felt devastated. She returned home and sent countless messages to Henry, but he didn’t reply.
After over a week of not hearing from Henry, Sophia decided to visit him unannounced. She had the spare key that Henry had given her. Henry wasn’t home; he was at work. Sophia decided to prepare his favorite food. Later, Henry returned from work, opened the door, and smelled the aroma of food. He checked the kitchen and saw that food was already made. He dropped his bag in anger and went to the room, where he met Sophia sleeping peacefully on the bed.
Henry angrily woke Sophia up, screaming at the top of his lungs,”What are you doing here?” Henry asked.
“I came because you ignored my calls and messages for a week,” Sophia said.
“Leave! I don’t want anything to do with you or your family,” Henry said.
“You said you loved me, but you’re treating me badly. Is it because of what my dad did?” Sophia asked.
“I loved you, but your family hurt mine. I can’t forgive that,” Henry said.
“Please don’t be angry. Don’t punish me for my dad’s mistakes,” Sophia begged.
“I’m done with you”Henry said.
“You only wanted my body, Henry. Now that you’ve got what you wanted, you’re ready to discard me like trash.” Sophia ask.
“Please just leave,I don’t want to discuss this topic further,” Henry said.
“I’ll leave in the morning. Can I serve you food?” Sophia asked.
“No, I’m not hungry,” Henry replied.
“Henry coldly gathered his belongings from the wardrobe, changed into his nightwear, and abandoned Sophia in tears, retreating to another room where he showered and slept, leaving her heartache behind.”
Later in the night, Henry was alerted by Sophia’s persistent crying and went to check up on her. Upon arrival, Sophia reported severe abdominal pain. Henry promptly gave her medicine to help with the pain, but it didn’t work. He remained by her side throughout the night, providing emotional support and comfort.
The next morning, Henry escorted Sophia to the hospital for a diagnostic imaging procedure (scan) to determine the cause her stomach pains.
Following the scan, the radiologist informed Henry that Sophia’s symptoms were related to her pregnancy, as she was found to be gestating a fetus.
Henry asked the radiologist, “Do you mean she’s pregnant?”
The radiologist replied, “Yes, she is pregnant.”
