Family secret
Episode 6
25years later
Twenty-five years ago, Andrew’s family was torn apart. His two sons, Harry and Henry, grew up in different worlds, unaware of each other’s existence. Anita, their mother, only told Henry that his father had passed away when he kept asking about him. Henry had no idea he had a twin brother somewhere. Anita avoided contacting her parents or Andrew because she feared they would force her to return to him, and she didn’t want to go back to the painful past.
Harry lived with his grandparents, who showed him pictures of his mother and told him she was gone. They said his twin brother was nowhere to be found, and Harry grew up believing his father had ki!!ed his mother and brother. He hated Andrew, even though Andrew visited him occasionally at his grandparents’ house.
Despite his success as a businessman, Harry felt a void in his life, a sense that something was missing. He couldn’t shake the feeling that his mother and brother were still alive somewhere, and he prayed they would cross paths one day.
On the other hand, Henry grew up with Anita, who worked hard to provide for him. She never spoke about the past or Andrew, but Henry became a brilliant young doctor. Anita was proud of him, but she never forgot about Harry and Andrew.
Andrew’s life had fallen apart. He was now a well-known drunkard, and his once-successful life had crumbled. He regretted destroying his family and found solace in drinking. He missed Anita and his sons but didn’t know how to make things right. He felt like a shadow of his former self, haunted by the pain of his mistakes.
Henry is a renowned cardiologist, celebrated for his exceptional skill in treating heart conditions. His expertise is sought after by top hospitals, which refer patients to his hospital, trusting his ability to deliver outstanding care. Henry’s reputation as a master cardiologist precedes him, earning him a reputation as a go-to specialist in his field.
Sophia rushed her father, Nicolas, to the hospital in an ambulance, sirens blaring. The paramedics had already started oxygen therapy and electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring, revealing a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) – a severe heart attack.
Upon arrival, the nurses swiftly transferred Nicolas to a Stretcher, attaching him to a cardiac monitor and pulse oximeter. They quickly assessed his airway, breathing, and circulation (ABCs) and started intravenous (IV) access.
“Get the crash cart ready!” one nurse called out, as they wheeled Nicolas into the emergency department.
The team sprang into action, connecting him to a defibrillator and administering aspirin, nitroglycerin, and morphine. They performed a 12-lead ECG, which confirmed the STEMI.
“BP is 80/50, heart rate is 120!” a nurse shouted, as they inserted an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) to stabilize Nicolas’s cardiac function.
Just then, Dr. Henry, the cardiologist, burst into the room. “What’s the situation?” he asked, scrubbing in.
“STEMI, Dr. Henry. We’re trying to stabilize him,” a nurse replied.
Dr. Henry quickly assessed Nicolas’s condition and ordered an emergency cardiac catheterization to open the blocked artery. The team rapidly prepped Nicolas for the procedure, attaching him to a cardiac monitor and injecting dye to visualize the coronary arteries.
With Dr. Henry’s expertise and the team’s swift action, Nicolas’s heart began to recover. The blocked artery was opened, and blood flow restored.
As Nicolas was wheeled into the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU), Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Dr. Henry,” she said, tears in her eyes.
Dr. Henry smiled reassuringly. “We’re not out of the woods yet, but your father is in good hands.”
When Nicolas was transferred to the ward, Sophia dedicated herself to his care, showcasing her compassion and devotion. Whenever Henry visited to check on Nicolas’ progress, he was struck by Sophia’s selflessness and attentiveness towards her father. As Henry continued to witness Sophia’s unwavering dedication, he found himself drawn to her kindness and empathy.
As time passed, Henry and Sophia’s interactions evolved into a strong friendship. Henry, who had grown up without a father figure in his life, had been taught by his mother to appreciate the importance of family. However, seeing Sophia’s love and care for her father made him yearn for a similar relationship. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of longing for a father bond like theirs.
After Nicolas recovered and was discharged from the hospital, Sophia and Henry remained in touch. Their friendship continued to flourish, and soon they found themselves spending increasingly more time together. As they grew closer, their friendship blossomed into something more, and they realized that they had fallen deeply in love.
