DIARY OF A SINGLE MOTHER 3
One morning I was bleeding nonstop with an excruciating pain.
I tried to bear the pain so no one would notice but some pains are unbearable. I couldn’t stop myself from screaming out for help.
I laid in the pool of my own blood, slowly watching myself die.
My mum rushed to where I was and burst into tears.
Without asking any questions, she beckoned on my elder brother who assisted her in taking me to the hospital.
I had already passed out before we got to the hospital.
I felt a heavy slap on my face and jerked back to life. I don’t even know how long I was in asleep.
“You fool! How dare you bring disgrace to the family! Just die… Die!” My said while trying to further hit me.
She was dragged back by the doctor and my brother.
“Madam please calm down. The pregnancy is still unstable. Thank God you brought her here on time. Something worse would have happened”.
The doctor said as he tried to pacify my unconsolable mum.
I know this was definitely a huge blow for my parents. My mother is the president of the Diocesan CWO in my diocese. She’s big on religiosity. She’s one of those church women who always like to chastise indecent youths.
My dad on the other hand is the laity chairman of my parish. I can’t imagine what his reaction would be.
“Who got you pregnant Chinyere? Who’s the uncircumci*ed Philistine that did this to you”. My angry mother charged at me.
The last thing I needed that moment was all these noise and attacks. I just closed my eyes and allowed the tears to freely flow.
“Mummy please calm down. Daddy is already on his way”. My brother said.
As if my father has been waiting outside, he barged in with a bag.
“No need for all these. I am here with her clothes”.
My father said pointing to the bag.
“She will be going to her husband’s house from here. Congratulations Chinyere”. My father said sarcastically .
“What have I gotten myself into?”. I asked with tears ๐ญ
