Diary of a single mother 18
Frank Left after dropping the money on the table. From the look on his face before he left, it can be deduced that he was shocked by how I behaved. I wasn’t moved by his presence nor his money. He couldn’t believe I was the same girl who couldn’t go a day without hearing his voice.
After he had gone, I counted the money he left on the table, it was #5000. I let out a very loud sigh.
Anyways, I wasn’t expecting anything from him, so the amount he dropped didn’t spoil my mood.
Later that night, he sent me a text saying;
“My Chi baby, watching you grow into a woman is the most faccinating thing that I have experienced. You’ve grown from that naive and shy little girl into a fierce and dedicated young lady. I know I have sinned against heaven and against you but please baby, I want to plead your indulgence ๐ฅบ. I was young and clueless. Let’s raise our babies together and make more babies in the future. I still love you baby “.
The text affected me greater than I thought it would. It broke down all the walls I have managed to build during the months of our separation. I realized I still loved him.
I tried myself to suppress these feelings that were surging so high.
“Chinyere, remember the times he made you cry without remorse”. A voice said to me in my head.
“But you still love him. He was the one that broke your virginity and the father of your boys”. Another voice said.
“Remember he never cared for you all through your pregnancy and you suffered alone while he was cheating”. The first voice said.
“He was young then. He is changed now. Give him a chance. Remember you are a single mother of not one but two boys. Think well”. The second voice urged.
“Being a single mother doesn’t reduce your Worth. You will get a better man when the time is right “. The first voice said.
I was in a tough dilemma. These voices kept on arguing inside of me.
“Which voice should I listen to?”. I asked myself amidst tears ๐ญ.
