Change of rules Episode 12

*EPISODE 12*
((CHANGE OF RULES))

“Hello…..hello…” Chief Afolabi called waving at Abeni, who was completely lost in thought.

“If my father is an acquaintance of ex-governor Adekunle Lawan, does that mean he was the politician my father worked for 18 years ago?” Abeni wondered deeply.

Just then, she felt a tap on her hand that helped bring her back to reality.

“Huh?” Abeni asked, looking confused as she stared from her father to Adekunle Lawan.

“What’s the matter with you and why were you staring at me like that?” Chief Afolabi asked looking at her suspiciously.

“I’m sorry daddy. I just got carried away by some random thoughts.” Abeni apologized.

“That’s okay. You may leave us now.” Chief Afolabi said waving her off.

“Thanks, Daddy,” Abeni said, bowing to him.

The next day at 12 noon, Killer K flew into the country. He booked a hotel room after which, he went to Chief Afolabi’s house. As he had earlier told him that he would be waiting for him at his house to avoid his daughter and Bayo finding out the truth.

When Kunle arrived, Chief Afolabi presented Kunle with the pictures of Oye and her grandmother as well as their home and store address.

“I’m sure you know what to do.” He said.

“Yes, Chief. Consider it done.” Kunle responded with an optimistic smile.

At Oye’s house.

Kunle, having gone to Oye’s pharmacy store without finding her and her grandmother there, decided to check her out at home. He arrived looking like a harmless fellow. When he tried to knock on the gate, he found out it was open. And as such, he went inside the compound.

“Hello…” He said as he walked in, with his eyes scanning the whole area.

It was confusing as he didn’t get an answer from anyone. And so he continued walking towards their door while slowly reaching for his gun.

As he approached the doorstep, he suddenly heard the gate closing. He quickly cast a sharp look at the gate, where he saw a good-looking young man walking towards him wearing a thick dark sunshade.

“And, who are you?.” Kunle asked, staring confusedly at the young man who gently took off his sunglasses and walked up to him.

“I’ve been hearing about you for a long time. And so I thought it would be nice if I could see you today. But from what I see, you don’t look like what they described you to be at all.” The young man said, shaking his head in disappointment.

“Who are you?.” Kunle asked again with curiosity written all over his face.

“I’m just someone who came to share some truth with you.” He finally said as he stood in front of him.

“I’m asking again. Who are you?” Kunle asked.

“I’m Bayo. Nice to meet you.” Bayo said holding out his hand for a handshake.

“I’m Kunle,” Kunle said, shaking his hand.

“Please, kunle, why don’t we have a seat?” Bayo said, pointing to the wooden bench that stood on the corner.

Hearing this, Kunle gave him a look filled with confusion and curiosity. He reluctantly went ahead and sat on the bench. Then Bayo sat down next to him.

“I know why you are here and I also know who sent you here” Bayo began.

Hearing this, Kunle gave him a sharp look.

“Yes. And I must tell you that, this is a trap to eliminate you for good.” Bayo lied.

“What do you mean?.” Kunle asked.

“Chief Afolabi met with Adekunle Lawan last night. And they both discussed how to discard you once you fly into the country.” Bayo lied.

“What?.” Kunle exclaimed in disbelief.

“It’s shocking, isn’t it?. The thing is, Adekunle Lawan plans to eliminate you to avoid anything interfering with his son’s campaign. He thinks you know many of his secrets. Why do you think you were asked to come kill an innocent girl and her grandmother today?. It’s so they can get something on you. That’s why they had me install a secret camera inside this very room to record you killing those people.” Bayo said when in fact it was he who fixed those cameras.

“What?.” Kunle exclaimed standing up angrily.

“If you doubt me, you can go in there and see for yourself. Besides, you only had this conversation with chief Afolabi and no one else.” Bayo said, pointing to the door.

Kunle hastily pushed open the door and walked into the living room, with Bayo following him from behind. While inside the room, Bayo showed the hidden cameras to Kunle, who couldn’t believe his eyes.

“So, let’s just say, I saved you from going to jail,” Bayo said.

“But why? Why are you doing this?” Kunle asked.

“Because I know what it feels like to be used and thrown away by those old folds. And also, I would like us to work together and give those men a taste of their own pills.” Bayo said with a mischievous smile curling his lips.

Flashback to last night.

As Abeni took a few steps away from the living room, she heard Adekunle Lawan ask:

“Have you recently heard from Kunle?” He asked.

“Yes. He will be flying into the country tomorrow.” Chief Afolabi answered picking up his glass of alcoholic wine.

“Did you call for him or did he choose to come voluntarily?” He asked.

“I actually called for him.” Chief Afolabi answered.

“It’s good that you called for him. At least now I can use him to run small things for my son’s upcoming campaign,” He said with a smile.

“Sure. You can always count on Kunle to do what you tell him to do. Trust me, he’s good at what he does,” Chief Afolabi said.

Hearing this, Abeni tiptoed fast and slow into her room, where she pressed her back against her door as soon as she walked in, closing the door behind her. She took a deep breath, with her mind beating faster.

Without hesitation, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Bayo’s number.

“Hello, Bayo.” She said as soon as Bayo took her call.

“How far?.” Bayo answered.

“Bayo, I just met Adekunle Lawan discussing with my father.” She said.

“You mean the ex-governor?” Bayo asked.

“Yes, Bayo. The same politician from 18 years ago.” Abeni revealed.

“This clearly shows that they both knew each other and maybe they were somehow involved in the death of our parents,” Bayo said, clenching his fist in anger.

“Exactly my thought. Because I asked my dad how long they’ve known each other and he said it’s been 18 years,” Abeni said.

“Just why?. For what reason exactly did they do it?” Bayo asked trying so hard to stay calm.

“Look Bayo, that’s not the problem now because as we speak there’s a fire on the mountain.” She said walking to her bed where she dropped her bag.

“What’s happening?.” Bayo asked curiously.

“I just heard my father say he called for Kunle. The man who usually does bloody and shady things for him. And if my guess is correct, then I believe he summoned him to kill someone. But Bayo, what if this someone turns out to be Oye and her grandmother? Don’t you think we need to move them to a safer place to avoid heart-touching stories?” she said.

Hearing this, Bayo sighed deeply and asked. “So where do you think it’s safer for them to stay in the meantime?” He asked.

“How about we just fly them to another state in the meantime? Because there’s no way we can process their passport before kunle gets into the country tomorrow,” Abeni said.

“I think I have an idea on how to protect them in the meantime. By using Adekunle Lawan.” Bayo said.

“And what are you planning to do?” Abeni asked.

“Im going to plant a seed of distrust amongst them. They are still cooperating because they trust themselves. But that would change the moment I give them a dose of their pills” Bayo said with a mischievous smile.

That same night at Oye’s house.

Bayo drove to Oye’s house where he explained everything to her. After which, Oye made up a lie to convince her grandmother to follow her to Bayo’s house.

Bayo brought them to his house. And throughout that night, he took his time to do his full research on Adenkule Lawan and his son who was currently running for the governorship position of the state.

The next morning, before he went to plant the secret cameras, Oye made him promise that he would not take anyone’s life in the course of his revenge. Bayo agreed to use other necessary means that do not involve bloodshed.

Present day.

Bayo convinced Kunle to return to Chief Afolabi with the news that he had successfully killed Oye and her grandmother so he can avert their plans. While he secretly starts plotting on how to deal with Adekunle Lawan and his son. And Kunle returned to Chief Afolabi with the news of an accomplished task.

Two days later, Ahmed returned with his investigation reports, which he gave to Abeni in her car.

“Are you sure you want to go through what’s in there?” Ahmed asked as she tried to open the envelope.

“Sure, why not?.” Abeni asked, looking at him curiously.

“That’s because, by the time you’ve looked through those records, you may not be able to stand your father anymore. I was equally shocked by the things I discovered during the course of this investigation. And I will advise you to keep this away from Bayo. Because this information will hurt him very much.” Ahmed said.

“Just one question Ahmed. Were the two families killed by one person?” she asked.

“Hmmm.” Ahmed sighed deeply and said: “As painful and unbelievable as it sounds, both of their deaths were ordered by one man and carried out by your father Chief Afolabi.” Ahmed revealed.

“What?.” Abeni shouted out with disbelief.
