EPISODE 14 (Finale)

ME: waooh. Now that everything has been settled, I can now have my wife back and re-unite with my darling and my son.

SEGE: *** mood changed***

SANDRA: ***mood changed also***

BETTY: hmmmmm Onihaxy, I wish we can come back together but it’s late.

ME: ***felt sad again*** Dear, but why?

BETTY: ***flashed her left hand and showed me a wedding ring she was putting on**** I am married with a baby girl for another man

ME: ***** cried again from scratch******

Betty, Sandra and Segun came closer to me to persuade me but the more they do, the more I continued crying until minutes later when I eventually stopped crying and Betty continued.

BETTY: it’s alright Onihaxy, let’s just accept that God wanted our Journey to be like that. I loved you so much then and if not for what happened as at that time, I have made up my mind that I would love you forever. But what happened has happened, let’s move on.

ME: you got married to the same guy you ran away from?

BETTY: **smiled** not at all. He got involved in drugs three years back and NDLEA arrested him and he was sentenced to five years jail.

ME: hmmmm. Who did you now got married to?

BETTY: He is also a Nigerian man based in the UK, we met a year after you left.

ME: *****took a deep breath and almost cried again**** How about your dad?, have you re-connected back to him?

BETTY: yes, about three years ago. He forgave me for running away and he accepted my new husband.

ME: it is well. How about Henry?, how is he?

BETTY: He is fine; his wife just gave birth to a baby boy last month.

ME: waoh!!!!!. He remarried?

BETTY: yeah.

ME: I hope he has forgiven me?

BETTY: ofcourse yes. He is even aware that I am here. Or should I call him so that you can talk with him?

ME: No need. Maybe later **** crying again**** So, that means I Have lost everything now?

BETTY: its ok now Onihaxy, you still have a son with me, you just have to move on with your life and find a wife. I heard you on phone when you were telling uncle Segun that you don’t have a girlfriend. Is that true?

ME: why should I have a girlfriend when I am still struggling to get back to my feet?, there is no girl on earth I can date that will be loving and caring as you Betty.

BETTY: that’s a lie Onihaxy, there are many of my type out there, just open your heart and love again.

ME: alright, I heard you. Thanks so much.

BETTY: you are welcome. If you are still willing to relocate back to Lagos and if you don’t mind, there is a job waiting for you there.

ME: **smiled** a job?

BETTY: yes. There is this firm owned by a friend of my father, I have discussed with him about you, I even dropped copies of your credentials with him and he said you can resume this month.

ME: ***still surprised** haaaa.

BETTY: we also discussed about remuneration and he said he would be starting with you on a salary of N2.5 million naira per annum aside other benefits.

ME: me?, N2.5 million? *** I jumped up and hugged her with tears rolling down on our faces***.

BETTYY: I love you so much Onihaxy but I am sorry, we have to go on separate paths. History will forever have it that you are a man I once loved with the whole of my heart.

ME: I love you too ****crying continued****.

With tears rolling out of our eyes, our heads came closer and our lips locked into each other. We kissed passionately and we never mind that we have companies, the kiss lasted for about five minutes before we pulled off. She gave me the complementary card of the man whom she talked about as regard the job issue and we had some conversations before Sandra and Betty finally departed, leaving Segun and I at the house.

ME: *****hugged Segun***** thanks so much bro, you are indeed more than a friend. You are a brother from another mother.

SEGE: you are welcome bro. I am so happy for you that you will be relocating back to Lagos.

ME: But I am unhappy that I lost my dearest Betty to another man.

SEGE: just accept your fate and move on bro. that’s how God wants your paths to be.

ME: I wish I could still marry Betty, I can never find any other girl like her.

SEGE: that’s a lie, you will always find girls that are even better than her. You just have to be focused and this time, you have to put an end to womanizing.

ME: womanizing?, do you have to preach to me again?. Segun, I have learnt the bitter lessons of life in this past five years. Funmi that I loved so much then, did she helped me when I was deported?, who among the other girls did I see when I was in problem?, none.

SEGE: that’s life my brother, you have learnt your lessons. You should be grateful that Betty cared to look back and help you, several girls will never care.

ME: that is true. But I am still confused about something

SEGE: what is that?

ME: all what Bimpe sent in that texts were all lies, she never raped me and neither did she drugged me. It was a mutual romance that led to sexual intercourse.

SEGE: ***smiled*** yeah, I know. It was my handiwork

ME: your handiwork?, how?

SEGE: when I saw that the suffering was too much for you and the only person that could help you out is Betty, I had to communicate with Bimpe on Facebook and I plead with her to declare you innocent to Henry’s family so that they could return back their helping hands and she agreed.

ME: ***screamed*** waoooh, you did that?. Thanks so much Segun, I am very grateful.

SEGE: you are welcome bro.

ME: how far with you and Sandra?, now that you are back together, what is the next plan?

SEGE: we will be getting married next year, I have gone to meet her family in Abuja earlier late last year.

ME: late last year?, where was I then?

SEGE: you were here. Remember that Betty wanted everything to be a secret as at then, that was why I didn’t disclose it to you.

ME: hmmmmmmm. What was her family’s impression about you?

SEGE: I think they like me. Her mum always calls me and I do call her daddy too.

ME: waoooh. Congrats bro.

SEGE: congrats on your new job and new life too.

The following week, I packed my bags and luggage and I relocated back to Lagos. I resumed immediately at the firm and I was putting up with my cousin in Mushin for few months before I finally got my own two bedroom flat accommodation. Before the End of my second year at the firm, I bought an Honda accord car (Evil Spirit), the exact type that Betty gave to me when I was still with her. I so much like the car and I intentionally bought the exact type and colour to keep the memory of Betty evergreen in my heart.

Segun got married to Sandra a year later and I was his best man at the wedding ceremony that was held in Abuja, the event was so glamourous that politician and high personalities were present at the occasion. After their wedding, Sandra’s dad made Segun the manager of one of his companies in Lagos and we both based in Lagos and continued our friendship.

I found my own missing Rib Becky, one of Nigerian senator’s daughter during Segun’s wedding. I told her all my past including my children with Betty and Bimpe.

A year later, we got married . During our wedding, Bimpe came with my daughter Daniella and she gave her to me as my wedding gift. My wife accepted her warm-heartedly and we all relocated to Canada.

Ten years later, we were blessed with three kids, 2 boys and a girl.

Now, I’m planning to come back to Nigeria and contest for Ondo state governor.

We’re only human, right? Everyone makes mistakes at some point. But when someone decides to forgive you and gives you another chance, you should grab it with both hands — because you might not get a third one.

When it comes to life in general, second chances are basically new opportunities that we should take advantage of. Sure, life might seem ruthless and unfair at times, but not always.

Some people literally get a second chance to live, while others find a new love. We just have to learn to recognize and appreciate a new chance when it’s given to us.
