Maxwell’s father gave us a warm reception when we got to his office.
He was glad to meet mother, Ella and I as a family. His wife hugged mother warmly.
I have never felt this love in my life before, it’s seems a new realm was opened for us.
The room was filled with joy, laughter as Maxwell’s father spoke to us;
” Sister Ruth, the Lord has indeed done a great thing in your life. From the first day you entered into this church and Max introduced you as a friend I kept my eyes on you.”
His wife nodded in accord as he spoke on. Maxwell sat next to me holding my hands as we listened attentively to him.
” I’m not God, I don’t sit on the judgement seat. I’m an agent of reconciliation. So ..”
The door creaked open shifting our gaze on the intruder – it’s Ada.
She walked passed us and stood behind her father, who was taken aback by her countenance
” Father this girl is a snake” she said loudly
” Ada!! ” Her mom called out
” Yes. If you get to know what she has done, you won’t let her in here. Bisi told me everything about this whor..’
We were all aghast as she poured out her venom. I was surprised Bisi has been the one feeding her info about me
” Ada!!! Is something wrong with you?😠”
Maxwell yelled at her
” Everyone in church knows Father. She will dent our reputation”
” Young lady take a seat” Her dad ordered motioning with his hands where she should seat.
She was baffled by her father’s action.
” Maxwell told us everything Ada. I know all there’s to know about Ruth. That’s her past. I don’t not condemned I reconcile my child. ”
She felt beaten by her father’s words, probably she thought that would be a breaking news. Thank goodness I was open to Maxwell🥺🤲.
” Ruth, Maxwell shared everything movement with us. We know about your past and dear we do not judge you. Old things have passed behold you are a new creation. Rehab was a prostitute; she later became the great grandmother of our Lord. Who am I to judge you” Maxwell mom uttered
It felt like cold water was poured on me, I can’t believe my luck.
” Mrs Damilola Williams, I am glad you finally reconciled with your daughter. Let peace and love live amongst us. All bitterness and angered be consumed by love. ” Maxwell dad added
” Ada we don’t have a perfect church, perfect ministry nor any perfect being but we have a perfect God” Maxwell said
She couldn’t raise her face to look at us, she feels bitter I can see.
The meeting was lovely and joyous, we joined hands and prayed together.
It was indeed a blissful moment for us we heard.
” We need to start wedding preparations now we have met with your mother” Said Maxwell father.
We all laughed except for Adaora who seems aloof of our conversations.
” Yes o” Ella said happily😋
Maxwell led Ella and I outside as his dad asked to speak with mother privately with his wife.
We walked outside with smile plastered on our faces, Adaora took another way to avoid staying with us. Maxwell cared less about her action.
I wondered why Bisi would gang up against and spread rumors about me. I have never mistreated that girl to warrant such behavior.
We stopped in front of our car
” You see everything is going smooth Ruth” Ella said
I smiled at her
” It feels surreal” I said
” Yes dear. Max, did you also tell your father about her damage womb”
He held my hands looking intently at me
” I told to them what they need to know. About that it’s just between us”
” But…”
” No but Ruth. He who sent me to you is more than able🥰”
” Chai. Ruth you see” Ella yelled out
‘ See what?” Max asked
” True love bikonu ooo😍😍’
We burst into laughter at her facial expression like a village girl lost in the city
” I’m happy for you both. I can now rest knowing that my sister has found her soulmate. I have bore this pain in smile to see this day and if it be the last…”
” Ella!!” We both shouted in unison
” Don’t say that” Max warned
She reached for our hands and held it with a sad face
” I can’t do this anymore, I am dying. I just conceal this pain. I want it gone”
Maxwell bent to match her face
” He can take away the pain Ella”
” No” she shook her head
” Ella. ”
” Maxwell, living is of no use to me. I can’t accept life stuck in this wheels. I just want you both to remember my siblings😩🙏. I don’t…”
” Ella stop” I cried out ” you want to leave me alone”
” You are not alone Ruth. When I had that accident I kept calling my siblings. Ruth you know I got no one to take care of them but you both. I. ”
” You go no where” I hugged her in tears😥😥
” Just look after them” she whispered into ears in pains
” Ella look at me” Maxwell called out
” I have accepted my fate” she said
Just then mother walked up to us, confusion was written over her as she beheld the scene before her
” Ella wants to leave me” I cried out to her😭.
” She isn’t going anywhere” mother scolded me
She kept rebuking every negativity around us and assured Ella that she would take care of her.
Maxwell helped her into the car, we drove in silence.
Ella is getting me scared with her actions.

Today is Monday, busy day as usual. I went to the boutique to take stock of what we have in the shop.
I walked majestically into the shop, I met Bisi attending to the delivery man I ordered one of the staff to take over it.
Looking at her I wondered why she chose to discredit me in front of people using my past
” Bisi follow me’ I ordered
She walked behind me to my office. I motioned for her to sit then proceeded to remind her how I helped her with her widow mother.
” Bisi why did you do that?”?..
” I’m sorry ma. Jealousy got me😩” she pleaded
” I trusted you. So what did you gain?”
” Madam please forgive me, envy got the better part of me😩”
” I relieve you of your duties for now” I stated with a note of finality
She knelt down pleading but I dismissed her with a wave of hand. I asked her to turn in your keys in her possession before leaving.
I feel sorry for her because of her mother but that’s the least I could do.
I took stock of everything we had, and crossed checked the financial report.
It was an exhausting day for me after going through everything, making corrections and asking the rest of the staff questions where I saw discrepancies.
Before dusk we were able to settle all accounts and stock before I left for lunch.
Lunch time has passed, I couldn’t eat because of the busy day and the growling of my stomach is getting strong.
I drove into an eatery to fill myself, I went across the counter and order for rice and sauce plus a bottle of water. I took my meal to a deserted corner of the eatery after settling the bill.
I was enjoying my meal when a man walked to me
” May I?”
I raised my head to see who it was then glanced around to check if other tables were occupied for this stranger to come here. There were empty tables. I wondered why he chose to sit with me
” Sure” I muttered with clenched teeth
He is dark in complexion, tall probably in his late forties or early fifties.
I don’t feel like talking that’s was why I sat at this place yet some persons can’t just get it
” This meal tastes good” I said as he munched on
” Yes” I replied
” You frequent this place?”
” Not really. Once in a while”
” Oh really. ”
” Well I do”
” Nice of you”
” I’m an engineer”
” An entrepreneur”
” Nice one. I love seeing enterprising young people.”
” Congratulations dear” he said looking at my finger
” Thanks. Such a lucky man to have a beautiful fiancee”
I smiled and thanked him
” What are you into”
” I have fashion house, a boutique and a jewelry store. You can come by and patronize us” I said handing him my card
” Sure will. I will love to see this beautiful face again” he said in a flirtatious manner
I was disgusted by his act, I withdrew my hands as he tried to touch me. Some men are something else, with the ring on my finger he still wants to trespass.
He smiled revealing his uneven set of teeth
” Mr Udok”
” Miss Ruth”
” Nice meeting you”
” Well, I have to leave now. Business calls” I standing up from my seat
” Hey! I hope I didn’t make uncomfortable”
I smiled at him and walked out of the eatery.
Some men are unbelievable, he just ruined my lunch😒😒.
