Susan took Stanley to her parents and he broke the news to them. The news broke their hearts so much but at the end, they had no choice but to accept the current situation. Stanley promised to take good care of Susan till she delivered her baby. And he promised to be the baby’s Godfather.
Susan returned to school and with the help of Stanley and her roommate, she was able to gather the strength to write her second semester examinations. And when she was done, she didn’t travel back home. She remained in school where she kept receiving medical checkups from Stanley.
Lilian on the other hand, graduated from the University after her final examinations. Susan and Stanley showed up to congratulate and celebrate with her on that very day. When Lilian went back home after her graduation, Susan thought she would be lonely staying alone.
But Stanley made sure she didn’t feel lonely, sad, or lacked anything. He made pregnancy easy for her. And at this point, Susan realized how special and unique that Stanley was.
When they resumed, Susan didn’t attend lectures through out her final year.. As she couldn’t afford to get people talking. She missed lectures till she finally put to bed a healthy baby girl.
Three months after her delivery, Susan returned home to her family and they got to see her beautiful baby. She spent the remaining months with them till her mates graduated.
A year after, she returned to school to complete her education leaving her daughter in the care of her parents. But this time, life had taught her a great lesson that she wouldn’t want to forget in a hurry. She gradually picked up her pieces and started her life afresh.
One night, she met with Stanley who called her out saying he had important things to tell her. While they were drinking and eating in an eatery, Stanley broke the silence.
“I’m getting married.” He said.
Susan didn’t know how much she had fallen for Stanley until she heard those words from his mouth that night. It was like her wounds had been reopened. She suddenly lost appetite but had to pretend.
“Wow!. That’s good news. I’m so happy for you.” Susan said fighting back tears.
“Thank you dear.” Stanley said smiling so bright.
“So, who is she?. Who is this lucky lady?.” Susan asked totally curioused.
“Well, it might come as a surprise to you, but the truth is, she’s someone you know very well.” Stanley said sipping juice from his glass cup.
“Someone I know very well?. Who could that be?.” Susan asked dropping her fork and knife in her plate.
“It’s Lilian. Your former roommate.” Stanley revealed.
“What?. How did it happen?.” Susan asked totally amazed.
“I thought about it and I realized that if I want to get married, then i need to get married to someone I have little or more knowledge about. And after you, it’s actually Lilian who fits into this category.” Stanley said.
“Wow. How long has it been?. I mean you two?.” Susan asked trying so hard to hide her emotions.
“The truth is, Lilian hasn’t accepted my proposal yet. We got talking and I got to know more about her but she’s been avoiding the marriage part.” Stanley said.
“But why?.” Susan asked.
“Because she thinks it’s wrong getting married to the man you once dated. She feels it would look like she stabbed you at the back. So please Susan, can you please let Lilian marry me?. You need to help me convince her cause my family are already at my neck.” Stanley pleaded.
“Hahahaha… Fine….I will talk to her. I’m truly happy for you two.” Susan said fighting back tears. “Please excuse me I would like to use the restroom.” Susan said standing to her feet.
She found her way to the restroom where she sobbed bitterly. She steeped out acting like nothing happened.
That night, she couldn’t help but cry herself to sleep. The next day, she called Lilian on phone and urged her to accept Stanley’s marriage proposal.
“Are you sure you are okay with me marrying Stanley?.” Lilian asked.
With tears rolling down Susan’s eyes, she nodded saying, “Sure. There wouldn’t be any one suitable to marry Stanley other than you. You are a good person and your personality matches with him. I give you my blessings Lilian.” Susan said wiping her tears.
“Thank you so much Suzy. I really appreciate your kind gesture. I promise to be a good wife to Stanley. And I pray you meet a good man soon.” Lilian said fighting back tears.
“That would take time Lilian. I have a lot to think about and men are the least of them. Anyways, make sure you make good colour selections for your big day cause we will be painting the town red.” Susan said.
“Trust me on that babe. I will make good colour selections. Popping colours to be precised. The type that would blind my enemies from afar.” Lilian said and they both burst into laugher.
3 months after, Lilian and Stanley got married and Susan couldn’t help but celebrated with them. She was so happy and excited watching Lilian and Stanley exchange their marital vows.
After Lilian and Stanley got married, Susan went back to focus on her studies. And at the end, she graduated from the University. While she was getting ready to go home after her graduation, she looked back reminiscing on everything that had happened so far. With all the lessons learnt, she hoped and prayed for a future filled with gladness and no more regrets.
