LIFE IMPRISONMENT 23
WRITTEN BY: GRACE OLAYEMI
Dropping the case was not easy for Abraham and his conscience troubled him all through the night. He prayed but his heart was not clear. He knew without doubt that he was to handle the case and if he should drop it, that would be disobedience against God.
“What then do I do about my family’s suffering? I can endure it, Lord, if I was the only one suffering from my choice to obey you. But, my wife and daughter are equally suffering and that is making me so unhappy?” He cried out loud that night after rolling from one side of the bed to the other.
“Send them far away from you so you can focus on the assignment I have given you,” he heard and he immediately knew what to do.

Travelling out of the country at that time didn’t go down well with Comfort. She could not afford to leave her husband alone in the lion’s den but he insisted that she went and she had no choice. She was on leave from her place of work since she had her second child so there was nothing she could hold on to as an excuse to stay back.
She informed Edward and he was relieved that the trouble would come to an end. He had seen all the insults being sent to his sister’s social media platforms and he was not happy at all.
He also could not come to terms with the reason Abraham gave for wanting to defend Danger in court and he had also tried to talk him out of it to no avail. He had advised his sister to persuade him but that had also yielded no result. Travelling to another country would save them from further insults from the people and all she had to do was stay away from her social media which he believed would be easy for her.
“Why are you not happy?” He asked his sister after she informed him and also told him that she didn’t want to go.
“I can’t leave my husband in this our trying time.”
“But, he was the one that asked you to go. And you are not leaving him. You are simply going to a safer place. Remember what you said happened to your daughter? Please, think of these children. Don’t let them have a traumatic childhood.”
“But, Big Bro’s birthday is close by. I don’t want to miss it.”
Edward hissed.
“Is that why you want to risk the life of your children and yours? See, God knows we have tried in our capacity to look for our brother and I’m sure he has forgiven us for ditching him. I don’t see a reason why we have to die because of that.”
“Hmm,” Comfort sighed.
She had been seeing her brother in her dream lately and each time, she saw him in chains sitting close to her but whenever she tried to reach out to pull the chains off him, something would drag her far away from him. She had been praying and hoping that her brother was not behind bars. She had made up her mind to visit all the prisons in the State in search of him before Danger’s case happened and spoilt her plans.
“Go on, Sis. Save yourself. Call me when you settle down,” Edward said and ended the call.
