“Even if you ki.l.l me now, your health status won’t change.” Blessing said slowly and my hands slipped off from her neck as the realization of her statement dawned on me. I slumped down onto the floor, feeling defeated.
“But why? Why’d you infect me with HIV. What did I even do to you?” I asked her solemnly.
“You shouldn’t feel bad about this deal. Do you not know the numbers of women that have suffered because of you? You used and dumped girls on whim because of your attractive features and your father’s money. You’d brutalize women, with the claim that you don’t enjoy s.e.x unless you see blood on your partners, and wouldn’t care about their wellbeing. You’d assault and give them permanent scars and be claiming it’s for your enjoyment. You aborted for some and even damaged their wombs. And yet, you don’t think you deserve me?” Blessing inquired calmly. Even her calmness infuriated me.
“Are those women your family members? Did they do that for nothing? They gave me their bodies and I gave them my money, why are you so concerned?” I snapped at her.
“They’re victims of your atrocities just like me…” I didn’t allow her to land before butting in.
“Your case is different. I should be the one to say I’m the victim of your atrocities. You purposely seduced me. I’m not the one who abused you when you were a teen, remember? So, why’d you take out your revenge on me?”
“So, do you have to fall for every seduction? Why didn’t you say no? You brought this upon yourself. Enough of all these, let’s enjoy our wedding night.” She said and winked at me.
“I can’t do this…I really can’t. You’re not even my ideal woman. I can’t be with you. Waking up to see you beside me everyday will be the death of me.” I yelled at her in fumes.
“Not your ideal woman to marry but you could chain me down and have s.e.x with me? You’re very funny. I believe you remember our deal, if you walk out of this marriage, the whole world will watch your videos and they’d know the kind of a person you are, your father will know your health status and you can say goodbye to your inheritance. What will become of you if you lose your father’s support? Nothing!” She reminded me and I sobbed quietly. I couldn’t risk that. I knew my principled father, he’d even be the one to hand me over to the police for assault and to protect his image in the country, he’d disown and abandon me, then my innocent mother will possibly d.i.e of depression.
“So, that being said, let me inform you of the rules of our deal. As long as we’re married to each other, you can’t cheat on me, that’s not because I’m a jealous wife, but because I don’t want you to infect innocent persons out there. So, that means, you can’t go to clubs or parties unless we go together, I know you dread that anyways, and you have to always come home from work on time. Secondly, you must always eat at home, so people won’t suspect that we aren’t like the normal couples. Thirdly, you will stop doing drugs and abstain from smoking, I know that’s the cause of your abnormal and wild se.x.ual performance. Fourthly, you can’t touch me without my consent, and finally you must be th. I’m sure you will definitely stick to the rules, my husband. I’m looking forward to your cooperation.” She smiled sweetly at me. I seethed with anger.
“And what if I do not stick to your absurd rules?” I demanded exasperatedly. She scoffed.
“You already know what will happen to you, hubby. Don’t try me. You will forever be in my grasp as long as I’m still breathing.” She sneered at me.
I peered at her face with disgust and fury, and at that moment, I figured I could be free of her only when she disappeared and never return. I made up my mind to start planning how to get rid of her without raising suspicion. I smirked and pulled her closer to my face by her neck and kissed her lips roughly. She looked taken aback.
“Oh, wifey, I’m sure you know there are many simple ways to make someone you’re living with, stop breathing.” I smirked at her and wiped off the stain her cheap lipstick left on my lips.
