FINAL EPISODE
Sarah has been in the garage for hours. Thinking of what to do, and where to go, the DPO called her, and she instructed him to release Lynda. She got the greatest shock of her life when she wanted to withdraw some money just for her to realize her account has been frozen.
“Where will I start from?” She lamented. Frustration was written all over her face. A woman walked up to her where she was standing.
“Good day my daughter, I bring you the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ” She gazed at the woman angrily and hissed.
“If you know my problem now, you will not be talking to me”
“That’s why I call it good news my daughter, You need to hear this; Jesus has bore our grief, our shame, our reproach, all of our worries…”
Sarah walked out of her. Then it struck her heart to go to the city where she did her NYSC. “Yes what I have here can take me there” she heaved and ran to the bus going to Abuja. She was surprised to see the woman beside her.
“Ah, my daughter are we going the same way?” She began to preach to her, even though there was no response.
After they highlighted off the bus, Sarah ran after the woman.
“Please ma, can I get small cash from you, I don’t even have where to stay.”
“I don’t have money my daughter, but I can accommodate you”
“Is just me and my husband, you can join us”
“And your children ma?”
“I don’t have for now”
“Oh, sorry ma” she looked at the woman trying to guess her age.
“She should be in her late 50s, why is she still without a child,” Sarah thought pitifully.
“Thank you ma” she gladly followed her.
“So what’s your name?”
“I’m Sarah Wills” They get talking and she narrated her predicament. The woman advised her she move on with her life and see how God will restore all that she had lost.”
“Sarah you are welcome to my little abode, here is my husband; Caleb. She introduced Sarah to her husband telling him she will be living with them. She could feel their joy of having a companion.
She started teaching Job some months after and became a bonafide Christian.
She was in class teaching one morning when she sighted a book.
“That book you are holding what’s the title”
“THE DRUMMER GIRL.” The student answered showing her clearly.
“Jesus!” She collected the book from her.
“Where did you get it”
“Is our literature ma, we all have it.”
“Borrow me this one, I will return it. When have you started reading this”
“Last month ma”
“Okay,” she put it in her bag. Curiosity could not let her wait till the closing hour.
She rushed home “Mom”
“Yes daughter I’m in the kitchen” Mrs. Caleb answered. She ran to the kitchen to show her the literature.
“I saw this with my student today, this is the current novel they are reading, and this is my story. The cover photo was even the picture I took on my 7th year birthday before the kidnap”
“Who is the author?” Mrs. Caleb asked.
“One Edward Jones I don’t even know him.”
“Sarah I would advise you to let go, you have gotten over this already.”
“No this is bad, how would you write about me without my permission. I will get to the root of this.”
She logged in to her system and searched for the author. Also booked an appointment with him.
She traveled to Lagos the following week and headed to Edward’s office.
“Sarah Wills?” Edward asked
“Yes do you know me?”
“When you chatted me I began to suspect and I guess right.”
“I have not seen you before so how do you know my story and you dare to publish it without my permission”
Edward was about to explain himself when his secretary walked in with a cheque.
“Ok ma, this is for you, just write your name.”
“I don’t understand 2million cheques.” She starred at it with disbelief
“Yes, that’s your profit so far from the story. We will get legal backing on this, you will have 70% of the profit every month. Miss Sarah this is the little I can do to apologize. I tried searching for you, sources claimed you committed suicide.”
Sarah held the cash with so much excitement. “And you have not answered my question, how did you get my story”
“My late friend John Mark started the research, I did not show interest when he told me. I even warned him to stop. I was called upon the day he had an accident. Then I removed his wristwatch which I knew to be a recorder. It was after I heard about your dismissal, that I played it and decided to work on it. You can’t be forgotten just like that.”
“Hmmm Lynda has worn this to my office countless times,” Sarah muttered.
“So how do you get other information.”
“I interviewed Taiwo’s mother, though she’s dead now.”
“Oh, it is well, thank you so much I wasn’t expecting this huge amount of money”
“That’s how you’ll get it every month, you have worked hard for it”
“My God will bless you” tears rose to her face.
“Are you traveling back immediately, I would have suggested we go out for a date”
“Next time” Sarah gave a genuine smile…
Mrs. Caleb was so happy about the turn out of things, “Did I not tell you, God will restore all you have lost? If only you believe and surrender yourself to him”
“This can only be God” Sarah confessed.
Edward and Sarah became friends. With the help of Edward she was able to get back all Simbi took from her though she never met her father as many people came pretended to be Richard Wills, so she stopped the search.
Her wedding with Edward never came as a surprise to many, what came as a surprise was Mrs. Caleb’s protruding belly.
“My life changed the day I met the Drummer girl, I knew she was in distress I took the privilege and preached to her, helping her in the little way I can, and I started praying for her.
So I was not surprised when the Doctor told me I’m pregnant for the very time in my life. That’s what God can do, that’s what praying for others can do.” Mrs. Caleb announced at the wedding reception. Sarah picked her drum unexpectedly and played some melodious rhythms to the amazement of the congregation.
