MOTHER!
Episode 6
… I took it to the room and I found Papa laying still on the bed with his eyes opened, I had been communicating to him, on how extra mile I went to get the food, I know he can’t communicate but my father have a way of demonstrating to compliment anything I am saying, I realized I didn’t get any demonstration and for once I stopped talking and everything was silence, went to his bed to touch him and he did not move nor shake, I got frightened, his hands were cold and his breath seems not to be working, I had read in a book that when you are looking suspicion over someone dying just place your head on their chest, I had done that when I realize he wasn’t breathing, I gasp in fear and rushed outside to call my mother, she was nowhere to be found and I was screaming to everyone at our environment to come and help me.
Not so long I saw my mother, I despised her so much and I have conceal a lot of dirty acts this woman kept as secret, I got more surprised at my mother’s reaction when I saw her wailing profusely, jumping up and down and crying for people to help her carry her husband, after she knew she is probably the cause? they took my father to the hospital where he was confirmed Brought In Dead. Apparently he died from the sight of what he had experienced some hours ago, My father felt betrayed before he died. I cried so much because he did not deserve to die. He has been a good father to me and I hate that his struggle have to end this way.
We carried him back and after few days he was buried.
After my Father died I knew my life is finished, I knew I am going from frying pan to fire but do I have a choice?
Few weeks after, the family of my father, came to sympathize with us and they came on how the apportion the small properties my father had, they released the only land my father possessed and the house we are currently in for us and decided to go with every clothes, shoes and other material properties, they had also asked my mum to pick out of my father’s relative to remarry her, they made it known that it is a tradition that they “shu iyawo lopo” that is, it is necessary they remarry her to our family by the deceased relatives, and my mom boldly picked Uncle Frank. I was pissed, I wanted to spill out that Uncle Frank and my mother had use their nonsense to kill my father but I fear my life, she had always threaten to kill me or turn me to outcast if I ever say anything about the issues. I am not surprised she had picked Uncle Frank just pissed she want to boldly continue whatever they are having together without anyone putting them to check. Without anyone castigating them.
Uncle Frank remarried my mother, moved to our house and that is the beginning of my suffering…
