MOTHER!
Episode 2
I was born in a very small village or maybe not village but a small underdeveloped town with just little amenities like boreholes and public schools, I was born in a home where we don’t beg for food but we still lag behind in necessity of life, My father is a government worker who only comes up during weekend and my mother? hmmmm, out of my father’s little hard earned has established my mother on a business twice which got ruined and since she could not do a business successfully, my father then decided to enrol her in handwork, so he made her learn tailoring which my mother learnt very well and faster, she had only learnt everything within a year and as usual my father opened shop for her, put most equipment even though he does not have much, he did this because he had always know that women are supporters to their husbands. He is always saying it too that no one makes it from working for someone so the best way to give us better life is establishing on my mother.
Growing up I seems to get confused if my mother is truly the one that birthed me or I am her step daughter ? in fact countless times I have asked my father similar question, but my father will always let me assume I am younger and so I have little knowledge of what I am saying.
My father doesn’t know what happen in the house anytime he leaves for work as a government worker who have to work in the capital city of our state will only come back during weekends.
My mother had hate my father so much for a reason I understood later and then has passed the hatred to me, there is nothing I do good in my mother’s sight, and everytime I go to bed with tears.
Slowly my mom’s tailoring business started collapsing too and before we know it, she could not handle it very well and it got ruined.
My father had then said he won’t establish her anymore result my mother being an housewife.
My mother has always force me to hawk palm oil and kolanut for her anytime my father is not around and if I dare tell my father, she will beat me to pulp and also threaten to turn me to an outcast in the village that I am a witch, she withdrew me from school and made me start hawking squarely. She also made me know that i must sell all goods she might put on my head for hawking.
Since I was younger I had been a vibrant kid who do well in school and at age 12, after my Primary school leaving certificate I was was withdrawn, nevertheless my mother will still collect little tips from my father on my behalf and won’t do anything about my schooling.8
