Chapter Ten

-LORA-
‘I’ve never been so pissed off by someone’s call, only Tana’s. Her calls pisses me off. She pisses me off so much! And I can’t wait to trash her for good when I finally get what I want from her!’
“So what do you think they’re doing now?” she asked two minutes after I answered her stup!d call.
When I picked the call, she had asked if I was sure that Desire will sleep with Eric tonight. Ofcourse I gave her a positive answer, besides there’s no way the id!ot will miss such opportunity unless she’s a f00l. If he doesn’t want to sleep with her, he wouldn’t invite her for a drink in his hotel room.
“Well.. probably he’s cheating on you right now,” I answered.
‘Probably? Nah it can’t be probably, it’s happening and I can’t wait to get my money’
But I’ve been wondering since today, if the man that is cheating on his wife right now is really the Eric who pushed me away and told me how he will never cheat on his wife.
“Good. I love the way I’m feeling right now,” she said.
I scoffed within, ‘Oh well you should be’
‘Six years of marriage, he’s never cheated on you and you feel so bad for him because you’ve cheated on him a couple of times, so you’re trying to make him cheat too, and you think I’m a f00l? Tsk’
All along, I knew that there was more to this, although I have no idea what it is but i’ve had that strong feeling that there is more to this than just trying to make her husband cheat because she cheated.
When she came to me with the job offer, I had asked her why she wanted her husband to cheat on her and she gave me an unbelievable reason which she thought I believed.
‘But I don’t care… yeah.. I don’t care. That is because i’m so happy about it ’cause when he finally cheat on his wife, he’ll be ready to cheat again and that will be with me, and before she grabs it, her dearest husband will become mine’
‘She had been feeling like an Empress all these years, wealthy husband, mansion, expensive cars, luxury lifestyle and making me feel like she’s better than me and everyone else. But… that will end soon. I will ruin her with what she started with her own hands.’
‘Tana you have no idea what is coming for you’

“Mmm” I groaned as I felt a banging headache immediately I woke up.
Pressing the tip of my finger on the side where it was p******g, I opened my eyes and that was when I realized that I was laying on the cold tile floor and I needed nobody to tell me that I slept on the floor.
Still wondering how I ended up sleeping on the floor, I realized again that I was still on the dress from last night with my heels and purse laying beside me.
“What happened?” I asked myself, my head banging hard and my finger still pressed on the side.
I tried to remember and I did. From Eric Wilfred being aware of everything, to him disclosing about Tana’s plan to k!ll Lora and I, to him offering to pay me ten million naira to break his fidelity and then finding out who Remi truly is.
On the part of Remi, I did doubt him.. yeah I did… but then I was pushed to make a research and that was when reality hit me. When I found an old Facebook account of his with his name as ‘Frank Okoye’ that was when I realized that I’ve been betrayed by someone I called my good friend.
But for what reason?
Thinking about it, he’s been trying to make me get attracted to him. He’s been trying so hard to achieve that.
Now that I think more of it, he indeed was desperate, right from the very day he walked up to me. He kept persisting until he got my contact and then he sent me a pencil portrait of me the next day because he knew I would love it and that would make me become friendlier with him.
Did he even draw it himself? Is he really an artist because his old Facebook profile said otherwise.
What did they plan? What did Lora plan to use him to get from me?
Could it be just to spy on me without me finding out or there’s more to it just like Eric Wilfred said.
Why didn’t I notice? I should have.
I’m such an id!ot for getting attracted to someone I just met four days ago.
What do I do? How do I find out without him escaping before I can get the answer?’
I tried to think but nausea took over. I rushed up to the to!let and threw up.
‘Tana is at one corner trying to k!ll me, her husband is at the other corner trying to force me into having s£x with him for some senseless reason, and the person in this mĕss with me who I thought wouldn’t even think of harming me is also there plotting some mischievous thing towards me with her cousin.
Oh Desire what did you put yourself into? How do I get away from these people? How do I end this all?!’
Tears rolled down my eyes.

I have no idea how long I stayed in the to!let but when I finally returned to the room, I met the iphone vibrating in my purse.
I knew the caller would be no one else but Lora.
Picking the call, I waited for her to speak.
At first, I wanted to ignore the call but realized that there was no need for that. Everyone is trying to play smart on me, Tana Wilfred, Eric Wilfred, Lora and her cousin. I need to play smart as well. Rushing into conclusion or rushing into an action won’t be of any help to me in this. I have to play smart or end up in their web.
First, I have to find out the plans of Lora and her cousin, then I’ll know what next do do.
As for Eric Wilfred, he’s quite the only person I could give a little bit of trust right now, but I can’t give him what he want and that is okay because I have the evidence to give to the police if he refuses to stop his wife from trying to k!ll me… and Lora.
Although Lora is now a suspect of mischievous plot, there is no way I’ll let her d!e. I have to save her as well.
“Whatsup nah. I thought you would have called me by now,” she said.
“Yeah…I’m just…. I was in… in the to!let.. yeah..” I stuttered, not knowing exactly what to say.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
“Yes sure..”
‘If only I know what you planned with your cousin’
“So did you sleep with him?” she asked.
Now this is the time to play smart. My answer determines how soon I’m going to find the truth, and I know exactly what to say.
I took a quick breath and answered body, “Yes..”
“Really?? You succeeded?” she asked, her voice brightening.
“Yes and I got the evidence,” I said.
“Wow wow… Good one Desire. You’ve done well babe. Your millions is waiting for you already.. Oh sh!t I have to tell Tana, she’s been expecting a news,” she said excitedly.
“No Lora.. don’t tell Tana yet. Tell her it didn’t work out.. but that I promise to keep trying my best,” I said.
“Really? Why?” her voice went cold again.
I inhaled, ” He wants us to meet tonight and tomorrow night as well, and he promised to give me some money. You know I need money Lora. Five million naira is much but it’s not bad if I make a little more. Don’t worry, you’ll get a good amount from it.”
“Hmmm.. like how much?” she didn’t sound pleased.
“Like a million. I’ll give you 400k from it plus the 300k. Check am nah,” I said.
“But Desire.. you know you shouldn’t be sleeping with him more than once. Tana clearly told you that,” she said.
“I’m aware Lora but there’s nothing wrong there as far as there’s no feelings attached. I need more money babe abeg,” I said.
She chuckled, “See you. Bad girl. But you were here shouting that you can’t sleep with a married man for money. Now you wan do am again and again. No wahala. 700k is not bad, your secret is safe with me but I have to tell her after next tomorrow o.”
“Ofcourse..”

Grabbing my phone from the bedside table, I left the bed and the nak£d sleeping beauty on it, and went into the bathroom to answer Lora’s call.
“Hey Lora.”
“Guy… you just dey wake up abi?” her pissed but also happy voice came on.
I sighed, “No mind me abeg. Enjoyment too much last night that I overslept. How far?”
“She has done the job, now it’s time for you to do yours. Good thing she’s staying two more days, but don’t wait anymore.. If it’s possible, I want you to run the sh!t today.”
I smiled, “No wahala. You don’t need to worry. Na clean job I go do for you. Finally, our cousin-ship is going to pay off.”
“Good. But guy there’s a bigger fish,” she said.
“Really.. tell me about it.”
“She wan runs girl for the man small for some cool cash wey the man don promise am. That’s the reason why she’s spending two more days…”
‘Hmm smart girl’
“….so I need you to run that sh!t today so we can bill her bigger cash. When we do that, she’ll have no choice than ask the man for the money…and i’m 70% sure that he’ll give it to her,” she said.
“Ah Lora. I thought we are to bill her when she collects the 5m?”
“We can bill her twice man. We’re the one with the key, we can unlock and lock her anytime we want. Just do the sh!t and book the first flight tomorrow so we can make some money..” she said.
“No prob.”
“Guy no sleep with the babe. Just drug her, run the sh!t and leave,” she said.
I smiled, “Sure na.”

“You can’t tell your wife the truth now,” I said immediately Eric Wilfred opened his door.
“Okay, I wasn’t planning to,” he said.
‘I know, because I didn’t agree to sleep with you!’
“I lied to Lora that I slept with you last night and I did that because I want to find out her plot with her cousin,” I said.
“Did we?” he asked.
“I said that I lied we did,” I snapped.
“Well.. It could become true in the next ten minutes,” he said.
I almost rolled my eyes.
“I was already done with this talk yesterday,” I said and started walking to my door.
“Do you need my help?” he asked.
‘Well.. You should have asked that instead’
