Challenges Of A Teenage Girl

CHALLENGES OF A TEENAGE GIRL.

Chapter One

It all started when Melona came home one evening with a large veil on her head. I didn’t pay attention to it because I had other things to do. When she stepped into the room she went straight forward to the Bathroom and made two hours.

I got pressed and wanted to ease myself, so I got up went to the door of the bathroom and pushed it. I had forgotten she was around Because she had spent too much time in the bathroom. I thought she was bathing since it usually takes her about 1 hour 30 minutes. I stood Infront of the bath and tapped on it three times before she responded

“Melo please I need to ease myself. What’s happening to you?” I asked sounding really concerned and worried.

“It’s alright, am coming out already” she responded.

Immediately she opened the door, the very first thing my eyes fell on, were her swollen eyes, her large beautiful eyes. Her eyes had dark circles round it and which made it looked like a bee had tampered with them. On her neck behind you could easily see a swollen spot.

In as much as I would have loved to mind my business, she was my sister and I couldn’t have seen something like that and stay quiet.
“Melo! Jesus Christ!” I exclaimed as opened my mouth to express how shock I was.

“Who did this to you?” “What happened to you??”

I stood there waiting for a response when she gently passed me by and sat on the bed.

“Am so sorry sis I am tired of Crying please let me have some rest. Once I am up I will let you in on what happened “

“But what happened to you?” I persisted you told me you were at Alex’s place right? Did someone attack you on the way here?”

She simply ignored my many questions and went straight to bed till when I said,
“Did Alex do this?” she gave me a reassuring look, accompanied by long steaming tears running down her chicks.

“I am so tired Ash this is not what I bargain for when I made up my mind to find a lover” she said as she wept bitterly

“If he did this to you then you should have rushed down to the police station and reported him. This is a very huge crime punishable by law, coupled with the fact that he hadn’t any right”

“And what are they going to do? Bill money on me which I don’t even have?”
She disagreed.

“Well ok let’s think of another way because this can not just go unpunishable.”

“Try getting some sleep your eyes are really looking bad. And your neck too. I will go get you some drugs and food to eat too.”

Alex was a guy Melona dated back then, who made life very unbearable for her. He had already made it a habit of beating his girlfriends and my sister was just one of his victims. It had only been six months into the relationship and he was already showing his true colours.

He was also bent on making her hate everyone around her as well as keep them far away from her. He told her to cut off all connections with the male friends she had and promised to cheat on her if she Dared disrespects him.

Melona had only been in the dating game for some time she had dated few guys but had never really fallen in love like she had with Alex.

Alex was no ordinary guy. He was a sadist and a psycho who enjoyed seeing people in pains. He was a scammer, a manipulator and a liar. He went as far as framing me and lying to Melo that I Ashley tried flirting with him once. I tried explaining to her that he was the one making such advances and was only trying to frame me up so that she could hate me. But as you know Women. She actually kept it from me and later used it against me one day when we had an argument.

Melona and I go a long way back in primary school. we lived in Buea for Ten years, grow up in the same neighbourhood, but later separated after she left to Bamenda for her secondary Education.

After eight years of not hearing or seeing each other, fate draw us back together again.I gained admission to study in the University of Bamenda in the faculty of education. While she also had admission into the same University. I was passing by one day and met her on the roadside, waiting for a taxi. we greeted casually as relatives would after being apart for a long time. I noticed a lot had changed about her.

She looked quite well like the daughter of a well to do man very healthy and dressed well, I even noticed her phone was one of the rarest marks. We exchanged contacts and continued with our journey.

When I reached home, she texted me in the evening and we discussed so much.she told me so much about her life and how she had managed to reached this level of education. I knew her parents couldn’t have afforded it since they were just farmers. Her father had longed passed on while her mum could barely feed on the little crops she cultivated.

At that time life was not equally easy for me too at the moment because I had to leave from Town to school every day. I spent at least the sum of 1000 FRS CFA every day to go to school.

As time went on I also discovered she went through the same problems and I managed to persuade her to come rent with me in the School milieu. We brought the things we had and put them in the house and little by little we managed to get the other things. That is how Melo and I became roommates.

That’s how Melo and I began living together. Unlike her I was more experience when it came to boys because I began dating as early as secondary school, but she had just started in the University. So it was difficult for her to identify a good guy for herself.

Melo was a good girl. She was just weak at heart and it made it possible be easily hurt by men who pretended to love her. She loved deeply too for that was her own weak point.
