LOVE IN THE APARTMENT
EPISODE 8
The next day, Emily was still fuming about Alex’s behavior the night before. She couldn’t believe he had been so flirtatious with Sandra, and she couldn’t help but wonder if he was interested in her friend.
Emily was busy with her own activities when she heard a knock on the door. She opened it to find Sandra standing there, looking apologetic.
“Hey Emily, I’m so sorry to just show up like this,” Sandra said. “I tried calling you, but your number wasn’t going through.”
Emily was surprised. “Oh, weird. I didn’t know that. What brings you here?”
Sandra smiled. “I was in the neighborhood and thought I’d drop by to say hi. And I wanted to see Alex again, we really hit it off yesterday.”
Emily felt a pang of unease, but tried to brush it off. “Oh, yeah. Alex is…around here somewhere.”
Sandra walked in, and Emily couldn’t help but notice how she was dressed – in a cute outfit, her hair styled perfectly. Emily felt a twinge of jealousy, wondering why Sandra was going to so much effort.
As they chatted, Alex walked into the room, looking surprised to see Sandra. “Hey, again!” he said, smiling.
Sandra smiled back, and Emily noticed how they exchanged a warm glance. She felt a surge of jealousy, wondering if Alex was interested in Sandra.
But Alex didn’t seem to notice Emily’s unease. He chatted with Sandra, laughing and joking, and Emily couldn’t help but feel left out.
As the visit went on, Emily found herself growing more and more uncomfortable. She didn’t like seeing Alex and Sandra together, and she couldn’t shake off the feeling that Alex was interested in her friend….
Sandra, oblivious to Emily’s unease, continued to chat and laugh with Alex. They talked about everything from their job and school to their favorite TV shows, and Emily couldn’t help but feel like an outsider.
At one point, Alex got up to get Sandra a glass of water, and as he walked back into the room, he accidentally brushed his hand against Sandra’s. Emily saw the touch and felt a surge of jealousy.
Why was Alex being so friendly with Sandra? And why did he have to touch her?
As the visit came to an end, Sandra thanked Emily for having her over and hugged Alex goodbye. “I’ll see you around,” she said, smiling up at him.
Alex smiled back, and Emily felt her heart sink. She didn’t like this one bit.
As soon as Sandra left, Emily turned to Alex. “What’s going on with you and Sandra?” she asked, trying to sound casual.
Alex looked at her, confused. “What do you mean?”
Emily shrugged. “You two just seem really friendly. That’s all.”
Alex laughed. “We just met yesterday, Emily. I’m just being nice.”
But Emily wasn’t convinced. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that Alex was interested in Sandra, and it was driving her crazy….
Alex’s response did little to alleviate Emily’s concerns. She couldn’t help but wonder if he was just being polite or if there was something more to it.
As the days went by, Emily noticed that Alex and Sandra were texting each other more and more. They would laugh and joke around, and Emily could sense a connection between them.
One evening, as they were all watching TV together, Sandra came over again. This time, Alex offered to make her dinner, and they spent the evening cooking together.
Emily watched as they chatted and laughed, she kept sneaking around watching them, she felt more and more left out. She couldn’t help but wonder if Alex was developing feelings for Sandra.
As the night came to a close, Sandra thanked Alex for dinner and hugged him goodbye. “I’ll see you soon,” she said, smiling up at him.
Alex smiled back, and Emily felt her heart sink. She knew she had to talk to him about this, but she didn’t know where to start, she didn’t even know why she was acting this way or feeling jealous .
As they went to bed, Emily couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was losing Alex to Sandra. She didn’t know what to do, but she knew she had to do something.
The next day, Emily decided to confront Alex about his relationship with Sandra. She waited until they were alone in the kitchen, then turned to him and asked, “Alex, can I talk to you about something?”
Alex looked at her, concerned. “What’s up, Emily?”
Emily took a deep breath. “It’s about you and Sandra. I’ve noticed you two are getting pretty close, and I was wondering if there’s something going on between you.”
Alex looked surprised. “What are you talking about, Emily? We’re just friends.”
Emily raised an eyebrow. “Just friends? That’s not what it looks like to me. You’re always laughing and joking together, and you seem really comfortable around each other.”
Alex shrugged. “So what if we are comfortable around each other? That doesn’t mean anything.”
Emily sighed. “Alex, I know you. I’ve seen the way you look at her. You’re interested in her, aren’t you?”
Alex hesitated, looking away. “Even if I was, what’s it to you?”
Emily felt a sting from his words. “What’s it to me? I know its none of my business but You’re my friend, Alex. I care about you. And I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
Alex turned back to her, his expression softening. “Emily, I appreciate your concern. But I can take care of myself. And even if I was interested in Sandra, which I’m not saying I am, it’s none of your business.”
Emily felt a lump form in her throat. She knew she had overstepped. “You’re right. I’m sorry. It’s just…I feel like I’m losing my friend.”
Alex’s expression changed to one of surprise. “Losing me? Emily, I’m still the same person. Nothing’s changed.”
But Emily knew that everything had changed. She had seen the way Alex looked at Sandra, and she knew that their friendship would never be the same again…her heart beats faster at the thought of that ….
