SLEEP WITH MY HUSBAND
Written by Rejoice Jeremiah
Chapter One
As the black jeep approached me, I knew it was the one I have been waiting for and I was right. It pulled up in front of me.
I took a deep breath took, fully aware of the deep water that I’m about to dive into and I’m hoping that it doesn’t drown me, that I swim out safely, get my pay, walk out for good and wipe the memory off my head forever.
It wasn’t easy deciding to do the job. It took me fourteen days of thinking about it. I would have rejected, yes I would have… but the money… it’s just too much for me to ignore. A money that will change my life forever.
A lot of people sin everyday, yet get nothing in return, but this sin is something that is going to pay me millions of naira. Money that I might never have in the next years to come.
With it, I would expand my mother’s business and then use the rest to travel abroad and start a new life.
Isn’t it worth it?
I did struggle to decline… I did at first.
.
“How can I do such thing for money?!” I had yelled at Lora.
“I’m not interested,” I added afterwards, but I was told to think about it and after fourteen days, here I am.
Don’t blame me.
.
The driver’s glass went down and Lora smiled at me and said, “Get in the backseat.”
Ten seconds later, I was inside the SUV with a chocolate skin lady in dark shades beside me. Everything about her spoke of richness. Her dress, her hair, her shades, the jewelries she wore, her bag, her nails, her phone, even her skin!
A complete rich woman.
“Hello ma,” I greeted, aware that she must be the rich wife who wants to pay me five million naira to sleep with her husband.
She didn’t respond to my greeting and a tensed silence took over as Lora drove.
But not for long.
“Are you ready to do the job?” she finally spoke, her face straight and the dark shades still on.
“Ye…yes,” I answered.
“You sound like you’re unsure,” she said.
“I am, I’m ready,” I said, sounding bolder.
“I’m sure you know that there are hundreds of girls out there who are ready to take a lesser price to do this job,” she said.
“Yes..” I answered.
Ofcourse they are, but Lora had already told me why she wanted someone like me to do the job.
“I don’t need to ask you questions because I know Lora had already put you through on everything.”
“Yes ma.”
“You’re…” she glanced at me, “…quite beautiful. I’m sure you’ll be able to seduce him into a bed.”
I inhaled.
I had no slightest idea why this lady who I bet wouldn’t be more than three years older than me is paying for her husband to cheat on her.
A reason Lora refused to tell me when I asked her.
.
“All you need to do is, a clean job, get an evidence while making sure your face is hidden on the evidence and after that, leave with your money and never tell a soul forever,” she had said after refusing to tell me the reason.
Lora is someone I’ve known for three years. We met as colleagues but she left few months later to become her own boss, a boutique owner.
Fourteen days ago, she came to me with a five million naira job.
“What kind of job will pay me five million naira in this country?” I had asked curiously.
“I don’t need to beat about the bush, so I’ll just go straight to the point,” she said and I listened.
“There’s this rich woman that want her husband to cheat on her..” she said.
“What??” I was shocked.
“She came to me and paid me to find a lady that will do the job well, and… you know Desire, you’re the only trustworthy friends I have. The others aren’t trustworthy and might overstep their boundary. And I know you need this money. You’ve always wanted to travel abroad and find a better job there. This money will solve it all for you. All you have to do is sleep with the man, only once, get some evidence and that’s it.. nothing more.”
.
“Do not betray me or try to overstep your boundary. Your job is to sleep with my husband and you have only seven days to ex£cute it. I do not want delays. Do you understand?” the woman who I don’t even know her name said.
Lora had already told me all these.
“Yes I do,” I answered.
“Your flight to Abuja would be in two days. You’ll stay at the hotel and await his arrival the next day. All expenses will be taken care of, but you must not fail. My money must not go to waste,” she said.
“I won’t fail you ma,” I answered.
“I repeat, you must not overstep your boundary. Once you do the job, leave and never try to contact him, ever.. whatever you tell him about you should be fake… And do not try to tell him your mission or disclose whatever to him. If you do…” she removed her shades, turned her face to me and stared into my eyes in a d£adly way.
“..you won’t like the outcome,” she said.
Just like she wanted, I got frightened by her words.
“I won’t,” I said.
“Good. I hope you are aware that you’ll only get your pay after the job is done?”
“Yes I am.”
Lora will see you later today,” she said and immediately, Lora stopped the car by the side of the road.
The lady opened her bag, brought out some One Thousand Naira notes and stretched it to me.
“Your transport fare,” she said.
I was awed.
A journey of Two Hundred Naira, and she’s giving me Five Thousand naira.
“Thank you,” I appreciated after taking it.
“We’ll meet at the usual by 3:30pm,” Lora said.
“Okay.”
In ten seconds, I was out of the car.
As I boarded a Tricycle home, thoughts of how the five million naira will change my life wheeled into my head and the more I thought of it, the more my mind get bolder on doing the job.
There’s no going back anymore.
I will do the job.
