“So the boy in the video is your boyfriend.”
“Yes sir.”
“Where does he stay?”
“He’s currently staying with his friend. We both left his house because we believed Linda would come for us. After all, that’s the only place she knew.”
“You will lead us to that his friend’s place.”
“Ok, sir.”
A few minutes later, two policemen left with Gina while Linda’s husband stayed back at the reception and was discussing with one of the policemen.
About thirty minutes later, they got to a place that looked more like a slüm. Gina asked them to stop indicating that they had reached the place.
The driver stopped and parked the vehicle and they got down. Gina led the way while the policemen followed her up close.
Gina got to a room and stopped. The policemen drew back and watched her from a distance.
She then knocked and someone came out.
“Our wife, how far?”
“Fine, where is Kelly?”
“He’s here, come in.”
“No, let him come out.”
The young man entered inside and told Kelly that Gina wanted to see him. He then went out to see her.
“Babe, any update? what are you doing outside? Come in.”
Gina stood outside without saying a word.
“Are you alright?”
Gina looked at the officers and pointed at Kelly.
They quickly went and held him, he tried resisting arrest but they overpowered him and handcuffed him.
“What is happening Gina? Officers, what did I do? Gina say something.”
Gina refused to talk.
“Young man you are under arrest for extortion.”
“What do you mean?”
“We will explain to you better when we get to the station. Move it!”
He was taken to their vehicle, Gina joined them and they left.
As soon as they got to the police station, John came out to see the man who had been sleep.ing with his wife.
They all got diwn from the vehicle. The police ordered Kelly and Gina to move inside the station. Kelly looked up and immediately recognised Linda’s husband. He started walking with his head down.
Linda’s husband saw him, his face looked familiar but he couldn’t recall where he met him. He later went back to the reception and sat.
Later on, Kelly was taken to the interrogation room. He was slightly tortur.ed and he immediately corporated.
“So it’s you who recorded her and was black.mailing her for money,” an officer queried him.
“Sir, please I didn’t mean to hurt her, I loved her so much.”
“Shut up there, you dey love person wife?” The officer rebuffed.
“No sir I mean it’s all Gina’s idea.”
“And you danced to her tune. Both of you are crim.inals.”
“I’m sorry sir.”
John was seated at the reception when it suddenly struck his mind where he had seen that face.
He stood up and rushed to the interrogation room.
“So it’s you,” he said holding his neck tightly and trying to strangle him.
“Oga, calm down. I understand how you feel. Just allow us to do our job,” the officer said as he pulled John’s hands off Kelly’s neck.
“This boy here slept with my wife, you want to mock me by impregnating my wife!”
“No sir, I did n..” Kelly said.
“Shut up id!ot,” the officer cut in.
“Let him talk,” John pleaded to the officer.
Then Kelly continued talking.
“Sir please, I never sl£pt with her without protection. I was very careful sir. Please the pregnancy is not mine.”
“Are you sure!” the officer shouted.
“Yes sir
“When I’m done with you, next time you see person wife, you go run.”
John left the room as the officer was still talking to Kelly.
He came outside, entered his car and drove off.
He got home looking downcast and tired. He just laid on the bed and was pondering over all the happenings.
“I can remember the day we met that boy at the party. Linda couldn’t take her eyes off him, I’m pretty sure they weren’t seeing each other then. But I decided not to react to her behaviour because I thought my wife had sense. Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if I had complained about her behaviour towards him. What about the pregnancy, what if he’s not telling the truth? I need to see my doctor for some clarifications.”
He later slept off.
The following day, John left for the hospital.
When he met the doctor, he explained to him the circumstances surrounding his wife’s pregnancy.
“Is there any way to determine the father of the child at the stage of her pregnancy?” John asked.
“Yes, it can be determined by how long she had been pregnant compared with when she first met the man or simply by carrying out a DNA test.
“I thought a DNA test is done only when the baby is born.”
“No, it can be done when a woman is still pregnant, From week 7 upwards.”
“That’s great. I know my wife made a big mistake but I can only forgive her if the baby is mine. Thank you for the explanations.”
“You are welcome, I wish you luck, sir.”
John stood up and left the doctor’s office.
