Linda was speechless, so her husband left her alone.
“For real, Jenny wants my husband after advising me against him. I believe what my husband said because I know the man I married, it’s just the way he said it. Jenny that knows all my secrets, what is all these? The same person who advised me to cheat on my husband that he doesn’t have vibes wants the same man that I’m married to. What is even her plan when she said I should tell her when I’ll be resuming work? Jenny can use my secrets against me,” Linda thought.
Her husband was watching her from the lobby because she looked distracted. He then went closer.
“What is bothering you?”
Linda was startled and suddenly returned to her normal state.
“It’s nothing,” she said trying to fake a smile.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, there’s no problem.”
“Ok,” he said and left her alone.
The following morning, Linda claimed she was feeling fine and was good to go to work.
She quickly prepared and left the house.
She drove to Kelly’s place.
She quickly got down and went to his apartment. The door was locked and the windows shut. She knocked and called his name severally but nobody opened the door.
A neighbour who heard her knocks came out.
“The person staying there had moved out.”
“It’s Kelly that I want to see.”
“Yes, Kelly had moved out.”
“What?! When?”
“Some days back.”
“Jesus, I’m finished.”
“Is everything alright?”
“Yes,” she replied and quickly turned and left the place.
She went back to her car and sat crying.
“I’ve been the f00l all these while. Kelly whom I loved and trusted had abandoned me. How can I save my head from all these? Should I pay the money? My savings are not up to ten million. If I should take it from the company purse, my husband will be notified. Maybe I should tell him I need money for something. But what is the possibility that the bla.ckmail.er won’t demand more or even release the video? What if Jenny finally tells my husband? Oh my God, my husband doesn’t deserve all these. He’s a good man.”
Linda was glued in the car and didn’t know what else to do.
After about thirty minutes, she drove back to the house.
Her husband came out as soon as he saw her driving in.
“Are you still feeling sick?”
Linda shook her head in negation. She walked into the house looking downcast.
Her husband followed her.
“What is the problem?”
Linda was mute and suddenly started crying.
“Tell me what the problem is. How are your parents?”
“They are fine.”
“What happened in the office.”
“I didn’t go.”
“What then is the problem? Why didn’t you go?”
“I don’t deserve you. I have not been a good wife to you.”
Her husband looked confused.
“How do you mean?” he asked.
“I was deceived to che.at on you and now I’m being blac.kmai.led.”
“I still don’t understand you.”
“I che.ated on you, someone slept with me,” she confessed.
“What! My wife? What came over you? Another man slept with you? How could you allow such a thing to happen?”
She knelt and started begging him to forgive her.
“Jenny misled me. I’m so-rr-yy,” she said amidst tears.
“Who then is black.mailing you?”
“I don’t know.”
“Which one is ‘you don’t know’, how then are they blackm.ailing you?”
Linda was mute and downcasted.
“Are you not the one I’m talking to?”
She then stood up and brought out her phone from her bag. She opened the chat and gave it to her husband. He opened the video and shouted.
Linda was frightened and quickly ran out of the house.
“Linda!!!” What is this?!!”
He then rushed out but didn’t see Linda anywhere around.
“How could she be deceived? Linda! Wherever you are, you will come back here and meet me.”
He angrily went into his house.
