Once in Love
Episode Five
“Isabel, stop running, I don’t have the strength for this.”
Mrs William screams as Isabel starts running again. Then, the person that Isabel bumped into comes back and recognizes her mother who was running after her again.
“Anna, oh my God, it’s you! I’m so sorry. How are you doing?” Mrs Williams quickly recognizes her. “Joan, how have you been?”
Don’t tell me that, Joan interrupted. “What have you been eating?” She asked with a smile. “It’s just my husband and God,” Isabel says. “Say hello to Aunty, she was my best friend in high school.”
Isabel keeps a grumpy face and says, “Hello, Aunt .” Mrs. Williams quickly notices the sign and proceeds to leave.
But Joan stops her and says, “Let me have your phone number so I can call you, I know you are married now, but I have missed you, I even visited your family house and your mom said you got married and left.
Oh dear, I sorry about that, I lost your contact and there was no way I could reach you”. Mrs Williams responded in a low tone.
Isabel gives her a grūmpy look again, but Mrs. William goes ahead and gives her the phone number.
Then they get into the car, and Mrs. William drives off.
On the way, Isabel asks, “Who was that, Mom?” Mrs. William looks at her and says, “An old-time best friend, we were so close in high school that people mistook us for siblings.
Isabel looks at her and says, “I don’t like her a bit.” She says with her hands wrapped across her chest.
“You will get to like her baby, she is a nice person, Mrs William reassured her but she was no longer paying attention.
They arrived home, and Anna’s friend is at the gate.
Anna honks, and the gate man rushes to open the gate. “Welcome, ma,” he said while she parked the car. Then she rushes out to greet her friend.
“Kemi, why didn’t you call before coming? What if I didn’t come back?” “Oh, my friend, it slipped my mind, especially with the fact that your husband has traveled and you didn’t come to work today.
Hope you took an excuse from the manager?”
she asked with a smile while Anna nodded. Isabel didn’t allow them to finish their conversation when she hugged Kemi and then ran inside the house.
“Come, let’s go inside, my friend. I have a lot to tell you,” she says, clapping her hands excitedly.
Kemi follows her inside, and they both laugh at Isabel, who is struggling to open the door without the key.
When she gets tired, she allows her mother to use the key to open the door while she runs inside excitedly.
“What should I offer you?” Anna asks her friend as they both sit down. “I just need water, but if you give me food, I will eat,” Kemi says as she touches her friend on the shoulder.
“If you need food, please go to the kitchen. There’s food in the fridge you can warm up and eat,” Anna responds.
Kemi stands up to check the fridge, then changes her mind and comes back.
“What is it you wanted to tell me?” Anna pauses for a while, then says, “You like gossip too much. Oya, sit down, let me tell you.” Kemi opens her ears wide to listen as she stretches her legs. Anabel, on the other hand, is jumping around.
“My friend, I ran into Joan my way back from my dad’s house. She was looking very classic, reminded me of the good old days.”
Kemi gives her a frown and then says, “Is that the same Joan that you said bėtrāyed you in high school or is it another Joan?
“It is the same Joan who paid my fees during my university days? My friend, don’t just condėmn her i owe her a lot too and it’s in the past now, I have forgiven her.
Anna adjusts herself in the chair and continues, “I gave her my phone number.” Kemi doesn’t even let her finish and says, “Don’t forget about how you almost got expėllėd because of that girl and I guess she is back to ruin you now.
Anna is speechless for a while, then she gets up to fix something.
When she’s done, she takes the food to the dining table, and she and her friend don’t talk for the rest of the time because she doesn’t want her to bring up the issue again.
They both eat, staring at each other and smiling. Suddenly, her phone rings, and Anabel is curious to know who it is.
She takes the phone to answer, and the caller says, “Hello my friend, it’s Joan” Anna smiles childishly and asks, “I hope you’re fine?”
Isabel interrupts, saying, “Is that daddy? Please let me talk to him.” Anna shakes her head and continues the call.
She ends the call with a smile “this woman has not stopped teasing people.
“Don’t let that dėvil back into your life my friend,” Kemi says as she says she needs to rush off.
She picks up her bag, and her friend escorts her out both frōwning.
