Once in Love
Episode Three
Mommy, mommy, please open the door.”
That was Isabel knocking on her parents’ bedroom door at around 6:00 am.
She was breathing heavily, as if she had just escapėd from a life-thrėatening situation.
Mrs. Williams heard the voice first and without thinking twice, she jumped up to open the door for her daughter, who stood at the door expressionless.
“Come inside, baby,” Mrs. Williams said as she gave her daughter a hug, then took her to bed to sleep with them.
Mr. Williams didn’t seem bothered by the noise; he might have been so tired that he didn’t care about the commōtion.
They all slept until Isabel woke them up again around 7:00 am.
“Daddy, wake up. I can’t sleep,” she said almost in a whisper as she tapped her father to wake him up too.
“Do you still love my mother?” she asked her father, looking very serious.
Mrs. William switched on the light to see her daughter’s face and asked herself, “Did she seriously wake everyone up to ask such a question?”
Isabel is usually a happy child and doesn’t act serious about anything, so this was unusual.
Mr. Williams was confused; he didn’t know why his daughter asked such a question. “I love your mother. Can you go back to sleep?” he said, looking tense and exhāusted.
Mrs. Williams was expressionless, trying to figure out where the question was coming from.
Was it from school? She just couldn’t understand. “I had a bad drėam,” Isabel finally broke the silence, causing everyone to panic.
“What did you dream about, baby?” Mrs. Williams asked, while her husband just listened.
“In my dream, you and dad were separated, and he said he didn’t love you anymore,” she said, her voice shaking. “That’s just a dream, baby.
Nothing will happen to your dad and me. You already know your father loves me.”
Mrs. Williams tried to convince her daughter and defend her husband, who didn’t even have a clue about what was going on.
He didn’t say anything. I didn’t even know what would cause such a separation from someone he had been married to for three years.
He didn’t say anything. “Go and get ready, baby. Don’t be scāred, nothing will happen.
Daddy and I are still together, okay?” she reassured her daughter, who seemed excited as she rushed to take her bath for school.
Mrs. Williams didn’t talk about it with her husband again.
On the other hand, Mr. Williams did not believe in such things. They were all bārbaric to him.
He didn’t even believe in anything related to God. He also got up and prepared for work.
The dream made Mr William eager to take his daughter to school.
Mrs. William on the other hand had to prepare breakfast, putting some fried eggs and plantain in Isabel’s school bag for break time.
When they were done, they headed out.”
Days passed and Mr. Williams was about to go on a business trip.
Everything was set – his clothes, documents, and everything else. Isabel was crying because she would miss her father, who was supposed to be away for months.
“I hope you will come back home after a month,” she asked her father with tears in her eyes.
“I will only answer that question when you wipe away those tears,” he said, using his hands to wipe away her tears.
“That’s my baby,” Mr. Williams said as he lifted Isabel off the ground and then put her down.
“I’ll be back in a month, be good to mommy, don’t bother her too much.” Isabel nodded and gave her dad a hug.
Then he drove to the airport, and his wife and child went back home.”
But before heading back inside the house, Isabel spotted a shop.
“Mom, please I need some biscuits” she said. Mrs. Williams turned and realized that she didn’t have her credit card.
She said, “Don’t worry, baby. We will buy more biscuits when we go out again. I just need to get my card from the house.
Isabel nodded as they went inside the house.
“As they just entered the gate Mrs William’s phone rings. The caller is her mother.
“Hello Mom, I was just about to call you.
I hope the everything is fine,” she says.
“Everything is fine, but can you come over for dinner?
I have something important to discuss with you,” she responds.
“I hope dad is okay?” she asks, curious about what her mother wants to say to her.
“Your dad is fine, don’t worry.
Her dad just got dischargėd from the hospital a week before after being diagnosed with hypėrtėnsion.
Which was the reason she was even more curious.
It’s nothing serious. When you come, we will talk about it. By the way, where is your husband?” he asks.
“He just went on a business trip and will be back in the next month.”Over the phone, the network breaks and she couldn’t hear her mother again.”
Then she says, “The network is bad, don’t worry, just come over. I have something important to tell you.”
The call ended. As Mrs. Williams goes inside to prepare to meet her mother.
Isabel was also excited that grandma will prepare something special for her.
“Let’s not delay mom, I can’t wait to see grandma” she screamed excitedly.
