Self Bondage 3
It wasn’t till after school I had my first real relationship.
I met Kunle when I went for an interview and we started off with been friends.
After a month he asked me out and I accepted because I was already into him.
He was the only guy I have ever introduced to Branda and he wasn’t all over her.
I thought I have finally found the right one and it was the best moments of my life.
Things went on well till he proposed and I accepted and we fixed a wedding date.
Branda was to be my chief bride’s maid and she went with me to get all we needed for the wedding, been the supportive friend she has always been.
A week before my wedding, I was in my room putting things together when my phone rang and it was the tailor.
“Hello, good afternoon,” I greeted upon picking the call.
“Good afternoon, please ma, I have finished with your finance’s suit and want him to come for fitting but I have been trying to reach him but to no avail,” he said.
“Ok, I will get to him and get him to meet with you, thank you,” I said ending the call.
I put a call through to Kunle but his phone was switched off which has never happened.
I became worried and paranoid, scared of the unknown.
I left me house going to his house when I couldn’t bear it anymore.
On getting to his house, I found the door locked but I opened it with my spare key, i got inside to see the sitting room messed up with drinks and food.
“Hope he isn’t drunk?” I asked myself going into his room.
I opened his room door to see Brenda on Kunle both lost in pleasure.
“Brenda!! Kunle !!” I shouted in shock as they stopped and looked at me.
“Babe, it’s not what you think, I can explain,” Kunle said while rapping himself with the bedsheet.
I turned and ran out with tears falling from my eyes.
I called off the wedding after vowing never to forgive the both of them even with the plead from Kunle and his people.
Kunle and his family still went on with the wedding but I wasn’t the bride, Brenda was.
They relocated after the wedding and since then I have heard from them.
“That is all that happened,” I said to Pastor Mike as I cleaned my tears.
“I understand you pain, I understand how you feel, I know the feeling of betrayal but it’s time you let it go,” he said.
“They caused me pain, they betrayed me,” I said crying.
“Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Matthew 6:14: “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” he said quoting the Bible, “To get the father’s mercy we have to forgive.”
“Colossians 3:13: “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Luke 6:37: “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
Matthew 18:21-22: “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’”
Psalm 86:5: “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.”
Mark 11:25: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
Psalm 32:1: “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”
Matthew 6:15: “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
“I will try my best, I wish it was easy, but how does it relates with my problem?” I asked still confused.
“Unforgiveness hinders blessing, it’s like a chain tied to you waist and tied to a pillar, when you try to move forward it pulls you back, forgiveness is breaking free from those chains,” he said.
“Now I understand better, now I know how I have been my own self problem but what about those that offended me, those that betrayed me?” I asked.
“When Jesus was been crucified and stephen stoned to death, they both said one thing, ‘father forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing’ you forgive even when the person doesn’t realize their mistake and let God fight your battle for you,” he said opening my eyes to alot of things.
