Episode 14

Nobody noticed exactly what was going on as Frank and his parents left. A few that noticed rather turned blind eyes on them.
Frank didn’t say a word on their way home, and neither did his parents.
When they got to the house, Frank’s parents went into the living room and sat on the couch.
Frank was still restless. He entered the living room and paced around for a while. He then went and sat on the couch opposite his parents.
“Frank calm down,” his mother said.
“Mummy, you don’t understand.”
“I perfectly do.”
“I’ll just wait for a few hours for their service to dismiss, then I’ll go and bring back my wife.”
“Frank things are not done that way. Relax, we all will go and bring her back. There are things you must accept to do before she comes back to your house,” his father said.
“Things like what?” Frank said looking inquisitive and attentive.
“You will always be available as a husband to her, you need to get her occupied, don’t forget that an idle man’s brain is the devil’s workshop. You either get her a job or set up a business for her.”
“Is that all, I can do all that but how should I be available when I’m managing different branches of your company.”
“Don’t worry about that, I’ll employ more hands. You won’t be going to far branches anymore. For now, your home is your priority.”
“Okay, Dad. Your suggestions are okay. I think she is in a better position to choose between getting a job or setting up a business for her”
“It’s a nice idea, we will go to their place in the evening,” his mother added.
Frank was so happy to hear that.
After that, they all left for their different rooms to change.
A few hours later, Frank was already dressing up to go to his in-laws’ place.
They had earlier bought a crate of beer drinks, one expensive wine and three pieces of kola nut.
Later on, they were all prepared. They moved the items they bought into their car and left.
About an hour later, they got to Sarah’s place.
Sarah’s parents came out to welcome them. They exchanged pleasantries.
They then carried the items they bought into the living room and kept them on the floor.
“Make yourself comfortable my inlaws,” Sarah’s mother said.
They all sat.
Both parents started discussing their affairs.
When Sarah heard their voices, she came out from her room but she did not go to meet them. She was rather peeping through the blinds of the inner lobby door and her heart was racing.
When both parents were done discussing their affairs, Frank’s parents brought up the reason why they came.
“My in-laws, we are here for our wife. I wouldn’t want to bring up the reason why my son sent her away. I believe we all are aware of the issue, so no need to bring it up. Let bygones be bygones,” Frank’s father said.
“Thank you my inlaw, you have spoken well. My daughter committed an atrocity, if you noticed I haven’t called you since then to talk about it because I want her to suffer for her sins,” Sarah’s father said.
“Please, sir, I have forgiven her and I know it wasn’t entirely her fault, I contributed to it. Please I want her back,” Frank pleaded.
“Currently, she is excommunicated in our church and she must complete the punishment.”
“I have already forgiven her, you people should end the punishment please.”
“It’s the tradition of our church and it must be completed. Your father knows me too well, my yes is my yes and my no is no.”
“Okay sir, can I at least see her.”
“Yes, you can.”
He then told Sarah’s mother to go and call her.
When Sarah saw her mother coming to call her, she ran back to her room and sat on the bed.
Her mother entered her room looking so excited.
“Your husband and his parents came to see you.”
Sarah was happy but ashamed to go and meet them. Her mother took her by the hand and they left the room.
When they got to the living room, Sarah greeted them.
She then gently knelt before them and started shedding tears.
“I’m sorry for what I’ve done. Please forgive me, I will never try such a thing again.”
“It’s okay my daughter,” Frank’s father said.
Frank then helped her up and wiped her tears.
“I’m soo-rrr-yy,” she continued weeping.
“It’s ok, I’ve forgiven you.”
He then hugged her passionately.
“I’m glad that your husband has forgiven you but you will not go with them until after your excommunication. You can go back to your room,” Sarah’s father said to Sarah.
Sarah continued weeping and gently went back to her room.
