Final chapter
I was woken up by the alarm clock in our room around 7: 45am. I jolted from the bed as I called my children and wife so that we would have our morning prayer.
Immediately we finished praying, I dashed into the bathroom and had my bath. My wife made food for me and I ate hurriedly so that I would go and meet the woman.
I noticed that my wife was suddenly silent. She had not uttered a word since she woke up. I asked her if she was ok but she just nodded her head in affirmation.
I tried to find out what was going on with her but she refused to divulge her reason of keeping quiet since morning.
I was thinking already of how the money will change our lives forever.
I can’t wait to make my wife happy and send my children to school again.
My mind was made up.
I didn’t want her mood to stop me from doing what I planned already so I stood up immediately and wore my cloth.
I kissed her on the forehead as I banged the door and left the house.
As I was going to the woman’s shop, my heart was racing. I couldn’t hold my emotions. I wasn’t feeling alright but I had brace myself up for the consequences of my impending action.
I knew I have tried to make my family happy but nothing had worked for us.
Immediately the woman sighted me from afar, she let out a seductïve smile.
She knew I would eventually come back.
“Good day ma, I am here to tell you that I have agreed to do everything you said”, I said.
“Wow, this is great news and I am happy you made the right choice”, she chuckled.
“Welcome to the world of riches…I will make you comfortable and rich only if you always make me happy”, she giggled.
She called her sales manager to get her bag for her as she stood up from her chair….
She came towards me and whispered into my ears..
“Enter the car, let’s go to the hotel immediately so that you will show me what you’re made of”
I was surprised!
“Madaaaam,madam…but you said that you will transfer the #500,000 immediately I agree to do what you want me to do”, I stammered.
“Don’t worry, immediately we’re done with the business, I will transfer it to you…I won’t fail you”
I entered her Venza as she drove to one hotel in town. She paid for a room and we entered the room.
I was just feeling uneasy!!
I have never cheated on my wife before but my situation has bent my will.
She sat beside me and planted a hot kïßs on my forehead.
“Let me freshen up so that we can get down to business”, she smiled as she entered the bathroom.
I started to plead for forgiveness from my wife in my heart.
“Would she ever forgive me”?
I was still thinking about my wife when my phone rang!!.
It was an unknown number. I picked it and a voice that I didn’t recognize started speaking…
“Is this Mr Emeka”?
“Yes” I replied.
“This is Mr Abdul from merchandise company. We are deeply sorry for sacking you because of the lie Mr Ebu told against you. We’ve discovered that he was the one that stole the device in the company”
Eeerm….eerrrm…
“We plead with you to come back to the company immediately as a new apartment and a car had been made available for you”
“Is this a dream”?, I asked.
“10 million naira will be paid into your account within 20 minutes from now to compensate you for all the troubles we’ve put you through”
I was about to ask questions but he ended the call…
I stood up like a goat that had already been tied to be slaughtered from the bed and made my way to the door.
I was about to leave the room when the woman came out from the bathroom…
“Where are you going to”, she asked.
“Madam, with all due respect, gettat abeg”.
I rushed out of the hotel room immediately as i boarded a taxi that took me home.
I got home and told my wife how I have been reinstated back to my position in the company.
She was dumbfounded. Tears of joy was just dripping uncontrollably from her eyes.
I quickly carried her into our room as I made lóve to her like never before.
Who could have thought that our condition would change in a twinkle of an eye??
All thanks to God and my priceless jewel, my wife!!!
