The other side of forever episode 15

THE OTHER SIDE OF FOREVER
(Chapter 15) Final

At the hospital…

Wills: Grandma, can you please call Mommy for me? I want to see her.

Grandma: Of course, sweetie. I’ll call her right away.

(Wills’ grandmother makes the call and then Wills turns to his father)

Wills: Daddy, can you come closer to me? I want to tell you something.

Kelvin: (getting up and walking to Wills’ bedside) Of course, son. What’s on your mind?

Wills: (looking up at Kelvin with weak eyes) Daddy, I’m so tired.

Kelvin: (holding Wills’ hand) I know, son. You’ve been through a lot.

Wills: (taking a deep breath) Daddy, I want to ask you something.

Kelvin: (leaning in closer) What is it, son?

Wills: (his voice barely above a whisper) Promise me, Daddy…

Kelvin: (encouragingly) Yes, son?

Wills: (gathering his strength) Promise me you’ll never leave Mommy.

Kelvin: (surprised) Wills, what makes you say that?

Wills: (looking up at Kelvin with pleading eyes) I don’t want to lose you, Daddy. I don’t want to lose Mommy either.

Kelvin: (hugging Wills) Oh, Wills, we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to be right here with you, always.

Wills: (holding onto Kelvin tightly) Promise me, Daddy. Promise me you’ll never leave Mommy, no matter what.

Kelvin: (stroking Wills’ hair) I promise, son. I’ll never leave your mother. We’ll work through our problems, together, as a family.

Wills: (smiling weakly) Thank you, Daddy.

Kelvin: (hugging Wills again) I love you, son. And I love your mother. We’re going to be okay.

(Wills and Kelvin continue talking, holding each other tightly, minutes later Lucy arrives at the hospital.)

*******************

As Lucy entered the room, she was met with a sight that broke her heart. Wills, her precious son, lay in the hospital bed, his small body weak and frail. Kelvin, her husband, sat beside him, holding his hand and crying uncontrollably. Wills’ grandmothers stood at the foot of the bed, their eyes red from crying.

Wills looked up at Lucy and smiled weakly. “Mommy,” he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Lucy rushed to his side, tears streaming down her face. “Oh, Wills, my baby,” she sobbed, taking his hand in hers.

Wills’ eyes flickered to Kelvin, and he whispered, “Daddy.”

Kelvin leaned forward, his face etched with grief. “I’m here, son. I’m here.”

Wills took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling with effort. “Always…be together,” he whispered, his voice fading.

Lucy nodded, tears streaming down her face. “Yes, baby, we will. We’ll always be together.”

Wills’ eyes locked onto Kelvin’s, and he whispered, “Happy…never leave…each other.”

Kelvin nodded, his body shaking with sobs. “We won’t, son. We promise. We’ll never leave each other again.”

Wills’ gaze drifted to Lucy, and he whispered, “I…love…you…both.”

Lucy smiled through her tears. “We love you too, Wills. We love you so much.”

Kelvin leaned forward, his face inches from Wills’. “I love you, son. I love you more than anything in this world.”

Wills’ eyes began to close, and Lucy panicked. “Wills, no, baby, don’t go!”

But it was too late. Wills took one last breath, and his body went still. The room fell silent, except for the sound of Kelvin’s anguished cries.

Lucy collapsed onto the bed, holding Wills’ lifeless body in her arms. “My baby’s gone,” she sobbed. “My baby’s gone.”

*******************

As Wills’ body went still, the room erupted in a chorus of uncontrollable sobs. Lucy held Wills’ lifeless body in her arms, rocking back and forth in grief. Kelvin sat beside her, his body shaking with sobs, his face etched with pain. Wills’ grandmothers stood at the foot of the bed, their eyes streaming with tears.

The nurses rushed in, trying to console the family, but it was no easy task. “I’m so sorry,” one of them whispered, placing a hand on Lucy’s shoulder. “We did everything we could.”

Lucy didn’t respond, too consumed by her grief. Kelvin, however, felt a surge of anger and frustration. He wanted to push Lucy away, to lash out at the world for taking his son from him. But then he remembered the promise he made to Wills, to always be there for Lucy, to never leave her again.

He took a deep breath and reached out, wrapping his arms around Lucy and holding her close. “We’re in this together,” he whispered, his voice shaking with emotion. “We’ll get through this together.”

Lucy didn’t respond, but she didn’t pull away either. She just kept holding Wills’ body, rocking back and forth in grief.

The nurses tried to intervene, to gently pry Wills’ body from Lucy’s arms, but she wouldn’t let go. “Just a few more minutes,” she begged, her voice barely audible.

Kelvin nodded, understanding. “Just a few more minutes,” he repeated, his voice firm.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Lucy released Wills’ body, allowing the nurses to take him away. The room fell silent, except for the sound of their sobs.

“We’ll get through this,” Kelvin whispered, holding Lucy close. “We’ll get through this together.”

Lucy nodded, her eyes streaming with tears. “We have to,” she whispered back. “We have to, for Wills.”

Dear readers,

As we conclude this heart-wrenching story, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of marriage, relationships, and the impact they have on our lives and our children.

Marriage is a beautiful journey, but it’s not without its ups and downs. There will be times of joy, laughter, and adventure, but also times of tears, frustration, and uncertainty. It’s essential to remember that no marriage is perfect, and every couple faces challenges.

One of the most critical aspects of a healthy marriage is maintaining privacy from outsiders. While it’s tempting to share your problems with friends and family, be cautious about who you confide in. Not everyone has your best interests at heart, and some may even fuel the fire, causing more harm than good.

Fighting and divorce can have devastating effects on children. They may feel lost, confused, and guilty, wondering if they’re to blame for the breakdown of their family. As parents, it’s crucial to prioritize your relationship and work through issues together, for the sake of your children.

Communication is the backbone of any successful marriage or relationship. It’s essential to be open and honest with each other, sharing your thoughts, feelings, and desires. Don’t assume your partner knows what’s on your mind; take the time to talk things through, and listen actively.

Be wary of taking advice from just anybody. While well-meaning friends and family may offer suggestions, they may not fully understand your situation or have your best interests at heart. Seek guidance from trusted mentors, counselors, or professionals who can provide unbiased support.

Remember, every marriage is unique, and what works for one couple may not work for another. Focus on building a strong foundation of trust, respect, and communication, and you’ll be better equipped to navigate life’s challenges together.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for joining me on this emotional journey. Your support and engagement mean the world to me. I love and appreciate each and every one of you, and I hope this story has touched your heart and inspired you to cherish your relationships.

Thank you for being part of this community, and I wish you all the best on your own journeys of love, marriage, and happiness. Remember to always prioritize communication, trust, and respect, and never hesitate to seek help when needed. You are loved, appreciated, and deserving of happiness.

Best of luck in your marriage and relationships. ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜
