The Narcissist Pastor episode 19&20

Narcissistic Pastor

Episode 19: The Breaking Point

Daniel sat in the church office, staring at his reflection in the glass window.

He barely recognized himself.

For years, he had been the one in control—the one giving orders, the one deciding how things should be. He had built his authority on power and submission, convinced that he was always right.

But Ruth’s defiance had shaken him to the core.

For the first time, he felt like he was losing.

Losing his grip.

Losing his wife.

Losing himself.

At home, Ruth felt none of the guilt that used to consume her.

She was free.

She no longer asked for permission to live.

Her business was growing beyond what she had imagined. Customers were recommending her work, and Mama Bisi had helped her secure her first major contract.

She had money of her own.

She had a life outside of Daniel.

That evening, when Daniel returned home, he found her at the dining table, working on a new design.

For a moment, he just stood there, watching.

She looked… happy. Peaceful. Unbothered by his presence.

Something inside him snapped.

“You’re disrespecting me, Ruth.” His voice was low but filled with quiet rage.

Ruth put down her pen and met his gaze. “I am choosing myself.”

Daniel’s fists clenched. “A woman’s place is beside her husband.”

“No,” Ruth said calmly. “A woman’s place is wherever she wants to be.”

The silence that followed was deafening.

Daniel took a step back, his breath unsteady.

This wasn’t just defiance.

This was liberation.

And for the first time in his life, he was the one who felt powerless.

Episode 20: Redemption and Renewal

Daniel sat alone in the church, staring at the empty pews.

For years, he had stood at this altar, preaching about love, kindness, and leadership. Yet, in his own home, he had been everything but kind.

He had mistaken control for love.

And now, he was watching his wife slip away—not because she wanted to leave him, but because she had finally found herself.

Tears stung his eyes as he whispered his first genuine prayer in years.

“God, I have failed.”

Back at home, Ruth sat in her sewing room, finishing her latest design. The fabric felt different in her hands today—lighter, freer.

She had fought for herself.

She had found her purpose.

And she had survived.

Just then, the front door opened.

She turned to see Daniel standing there, looking… different. Weary. Vulnerable.

For the first time in years, his voice wasn’t filled with authority or anger.

“Ruth,” he said, his voice cracking. “I was wrong.”

Ruth’s breath caught in her throat.

“I thought I was leading our home,” Daniel continued, stepping closer. “But I was destroying it. I was destroying you.”

Tears filled Ruth’s eyes. She had dreamed of this moment, but she had never thought it would come.

“I don’t expect you to forgive me overnight,” he admitted. “But I want to change. I want to be better—for you, for us.”

Ruth stared at him for a long moment, searching his face for sincerity.

And for the first time, she saw a man truly broken before God.

She nodded slowly. “Then start by treating me like your partner. Not your possession.”

Daniel swallowed hard and nodded.

It was a small step.

But it was the beginning of something new.

As Ruth returned to her work, she felt something shift—not in fear, not in control, but in hope.

She had won her freedom.

And now, he was willing to learn how to love her right.
