The Evil Bridesmaid episode 5

THE EVIL BRIDESMAID
CHAPTER FIVE

“What’s happening outside?” I asked in confusion.

“I don’t know, I think there might be a fight outside.” While we were discussing, a security guard ran inside and went straight to Mr. Williams and whispered something in his ear.

I was just a step away from them, so I literally heard him say, “Sir, your sister! She’s…” He stopped to catch his breath.

“Young man, can you tell me what happened?”

“She… she jumped, I mean, was pushed…”

“Move aside!” Mr. William angrily pushed him aside and followed the crowd that had gone out to see what had caused the commotion outside.

To our greatest shock, we found the lifeless body of the bride on the floor. This time around, her arms and legs had been dislocated, her face completely destroyed and scattered. Mr. Williams’ mother, who had just gotten a bit better from her illness, fainted, and despite everything we did to revive her, she never woke up.

The happy event changed its face to a gloomy and mournful one. Their corpses were both taken to the mortuary.

The guard had called the police. They came and arrested Lisa’s cousin, who happened to be Miranda’s cousin as well.

“What happened?” the manager of the hotel, who happened to be Mr. Alex, asked.

“I was sitting beside the gate when suddenly I heard someone screaming from the last floor. I looked up and saw Miss Lisa and this girl. She had been begging her not to kill her. Many of my other colleagues tried so hard to convince her, but she didn’t listen.”

“She threw her off the building and started laughing in a hysterical manner.”

“Hey, that’s not true,” Lisa’s cousin hastily denied.

Despite everything, Lisa’s cousin was caught and jailed. She was later sentenced to life imprisonment. Months have come and gone, and nobody can explain what has been happening. In the space of months, two girls have been killed in the same manner. The funny thing about this is that the girls in question were close friends. This I got from Miranda, whom I had met at the burial of Lisa and her mother.

According to her, Lisa, Ella, and herself were best friends from secondary school. They practically grew up together. I didn’t know what else to think, because Ella’s situation is completely different from Lisa’s. Ella committed suicide, while Lisa was pushed. The only problem that had not been resolved was to find out why Lisa had to push her cousin down that building, which of course I never got because obviously, I wasn’t a family member and could not be allowed to visit her in prison.

I was sitting in my living room one evening when my phone rang.

“Hello!”

“Hello, Trish.”

“Please, who’s on the line?”

“Oh, sorry, it’s William. Before you start asking me where I got your number from, please allow me to speak.”

“Okay.”

“Firstly, I got your number from Sandra, and I’m calling to thank you for the help you offered from the wedding to the burial ceremonies.”

“Don’t mention it, Willy.”

“No, seriously, I appreciate it. I will be sending you something this evening just to show you how grateful I am.”

“No, no, no! You don’t have to do that.”

He insisted, yet I still refused. Then he decided he would take me out for dinner since I refused to take his money.

That was how Mr. Williams and I became a thing. My relationship with him grew every day, and we loved each other so much.

Sandra had boldly told me she was not interested in her boss but in Mr. Alex. They also got together and started dating since he was, in fact, interested in her too.

One morning, while passing by Mr. Bichong’s house, I saw Miranda driving into his house. As much as I wanted to greet her since we had become acquainted, it was not the best place to do such.

Her visits to Mr. Bichong’s house became frequent, and I later heard they were now dating. I decided to mind my own business and stay away from her.

Three months later, I decided I was going to find out what was really going on. I was going to lure her into telling me her story. There were just so many things lacking and bad things happening, and I had the gut feeling that she was linked or had something to do with it.

I approached her one day, luckily she was struggling to cook one of our traditional meals but had no idea how to go about it. I helped her out, and from that time, we became friends. Bit by bit, I started engaging her in conversations about her life.

According to her, she was the first child out of three to her father but was an only child to her mother, who had passed away.

She had five best friends with whom she grew up. Three of these friends died in the same way, all on their wedding days, in their wedding gowns.

She went ahead to tell the story of another girl who passed away too on her wedding day.

The story goes thus: Vanessa, a very talented and successful fashion designer, fell in love with a well-renowned business tycoon. They got together and got married. She was part of the bridesmaids. She witnessed this incident live. Vanessa’s husband, right in front of the crowd, shot her dead. When he realized that Vanessa was lying on the floor, he started crying and wailing.

The funny thing is, the guy, just like Lisa, denied committing the crime. When his mother and the people around him insisted he was the killer, he denied it and said it was the lady in the bloody wedding gown that made him do it. When he saw that no one believed him, he pointed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger…
