The Evil Bridesmaid episode 4

THE EVIL BRIDESMAID.

CHAPTER FOUR

When I arrived at her place, she wasn’t home. I had her keys, so I opened the door and entered. I couldn’t focus on anything without my mind drifting to what Mr. Leo had said. It was around 6:30, and places were becoming dark. I sat on her sofa, switched on her big flat-screen TV, and put it on high volume. I called my cousin and informed her I was home. I told her to return early, that I had something important I wanted us to discuss. Well, there was nothing important; I just wanted to escape the thought of being hunted by the so-called Evil Bridesmaids.

“Sandra! Where have you been?” I asked my cousin, who had just come in.

“I left work and had to help my boss run some errands.”

“Oh! Helping your boss, huh?” I said, smirking.

“Come on! Don’t be like that. Don’t give me that look.”

“Hahaha, someone’s feeling guilty,” I teased her further.

“Not really! I just helped the poor guy run a few errands. His mum is in the hospital, and his sister is getting married soon.”

“Poor guy indeed. I can imagine how devastated he is now.”

“Well, God has it all figured out; we pray it’s in his favor. So, what brings you to my house that’s so important?” She asked curiously, waiting for an answer.

“Is visiting my cousin not important enough?”

“Oh! Is that so? But you sounded really worried on the phone.”

“Nah, nothing seriously. Just wanted to see you.” I got up, smiled, and hugged her. She kept on staring until I couldn’t hide it anymore.

“Okay!! fine!! You got me.”

“Yes! I said it. You can’t just visit me like that without a reason, so spill it.”

“Well, I’m quite sure you remember my neighbor, Ellen?”

“Ellen?” she asked.

“Yes, Ellen Bichong. I think you might know her as Ella.”

“Oh, you mean that pretty neighbor?”

“Yeah! She’s dead.”

“What! What happened?”

I went on and told her everything and how scary the whole situation had become. She, too, was surprised at the fact that Ella could commit suicide.

It was a weekend, and exactly six months since Ella’s departure. I decided I would spend a few more days with my cousin Sandra. She was bent on helping her boss not only in the office but also at his sister’s wedding. Since I couldn’t stay home alone and bore myself to death, I decided to follow her to the event.

The wedding had already taken place, and what was to take place was the wedding ceremony. My cousin and I helped out with the décor and made sure everything was well placed. This ceremony took place in one of the halls of the most prestigious hotel in town.

It was an eight-story building, well-furnished five star hotel. The groom and his bride were to be accompanied by the groomsmen and bridesmaids. When it was time for them to enter, the MC addressed them and gave the DJ a sound to accompany them in.

Among the bridesmaids, I spotted a familiar face. I thought maybe I was actually hallucinating, but when they came closer, I discovered that it was, In fact, someone I knew. It was Miranda. I decided to inquire from Sandra, who later informed me that Miranda is one of Liza’s friends. From then on, I became so scared again. Liza was the bride and was a friend to Miranda.

Despite everything, I decided to avoid evil thoughts and focus on the wedding.

The bride and groom had now entered. Food and drinks had also been served. People were now dancing, and more games were being introduced.

Sandra took this opportunity to introduce me to her boss, who had been staring deep down into my soul.

“Hello, sir, this is my sister Trisha,” she said.

“Hello!” he extended his hand.

“Trish, meet my boss, Mr. William,” pointing to her boss, who had already extended his right hand.

“Wow, Trisha is a beautiful name for a beautiful lady like you. How have you been?”

“Been great, sir, thank you.”

“Oh, come on, don’t call me that. Call me Willy.”

I smiled and nodded. “Okay, Sir Willy.”

“Sandra, please can you help me usher Mr. Alex to his seat?” As Sandra and his friend Mr. Alex disappeared into the crowd, he took it as an opportunity to ask for my number.

“I would like to get to know you some other time. Can I have your contact? That’s if you don’t mind.” I was reluctant because of my cousin Sandra and so I decided to play hard to get so he would get off my back.

“Actually, I just got a new SIM and I haven’t crammed it yet. Why don’t you give me yours, and I will text you once I’m back home.”

He figured I was trying to get away with it, so he asked to call him on the spot so he would have my contact.

I had no option but to do so.

“Willy!” his mum called out. “Please come; I need your help with this speech.”

Luckily for me, his mum cut our little conversation before I could even call, and so I avoided it.

While the occasion was ongoing, I took the opportunity to check out the environment. I left the venue and wandered off. I spotted the bride going up the stairs. I didn’t think much of it because I knew she was going to her room to maybe rest. As much as I wanted to ignore it, her posture and body movement were strange. She moved as though she was being controlled by a spiritual force. Her eyes were fixed; she wasn’t showing any emotions. What made things even more scary was that her cousin followed suit with the same behavior. I thought of following them but changed my mind. I ran back to where Sandra was and told her about the strange movements of both the bride and her cousin who was one of her Bridesmaid. She told me to get over it. That I was maybe just tired and must have been imagining things.

While we were talking, we heard people screaming outside…
