MY PERFECT MARRIAGE
EPISODE 25
Patience quickly washed her hands and walked out, Tisa remained in the toilet while Patience kept observing to see her back at the table but Philip was alone for a long time. He kept talking on the phone as if arguing with someone until he finally left and did not return. Patience immediately concluded Tisa was uncomfortable to return.
Elvin told Patience that they needed to leave early because he wasnât feeling very well. Patience wasnât so happy about leaving the wedding as she wanted to talk to her friends Kassy and Petrina who were on the line up.
When they left the wedding they went straight to Elvinâs house. He told her that he needed to take some pain killers then he would drop her home or she would pick his car and drive herself home. When they arrived he asked Patience to get him his medicine from the dressing mirror while he remained sitted on the couch.
Patience got water from the kitchen put it on a table next to Elvin then rushed to the bedroom to get his medicine.
However, when Patience got to the bedroom her eyes were shocked and she held her mouth as tears quickly rolled down her cheeks.
Elvinâs king sized bed had rose petals that formed the words âWILL YOU MARRY ME?â
As Patience held her mouth Elvin walked in and knelt down in front of her. Patience was shivering and covered her face, itâs like she was dreaming but it was really happening.
âMy love, I once told you that if God allowed me in this life time I would wish for nothing more than being your husband. I love you Patience, I love you and Thandiwe so much. You complete me and that is why I want nothing more than having you by my side for the rest of my life. So please honey allow me the chance to give you your happily ever after. Patience will you marry me?â Elvin said
Patience nodded her head as she covered her face, he then pulled out a box that had a 32 carat white gold and diamond ring.
Patience cried so much as she extended her hand to receive the ring. When he slipped it on her finger they embraced and kissed.
âCalm down honeyâ Elvin whispered as he held her close.
âI love you Patience and I dreamt of you every night after Siavonga, I constantly asked God why he let me love you when you were already taken. You coming back into my life has taught me to trust God more in all I doâ Elvin said.
Patience had held back for so long, she had never told Elvin how she felt. A lot had been stored up inside for fear of what would happen next.
âI love you too, I always ask what I did to deserve you. You are a blessing to my daughter and i.â she cried.
âHoney she is our daughter nowâ.. He interrupted.
âHush my love hush, hold the tears for the weddingâ.. he teased.
Patience stayed at Elvinâs home until midnight watching a movie as she they shared the couch. However, he respected her not to touch her.
âHoney I guess its time I dropped you homeâ Elvin said.
Patience looked at the time and agreed, in her heart she was racing the idea of her mother seeing the ring.
When he parked inside the yard he looked at her and smiled.
âI love you honeyâ. He said
âI love you tooâ she said.
âMy people will be coming next weekend, is that too soon?â he asked her.
âno absolutely not, well I will hear what mum says just in case she may need more time to get my dadâs relatives hereâ.. she said.
âok honey. Sleep. Greet my angelâ. He said.
When Patience walked into the house and turned on the living room light her mother was sleeping on the couch.
âMum, whatâs the matter?â she asked.
âNothing is the matter,.. well actually there is a problemâ.. Her mother responded.
âWhat is it?â she asked.
“Please sit down here next to me,” her mother said as she sat upright.
âOk, what is it mum?â Patience said as she sat down and hid her hands under the bag on her lap.
âPatience my baby you are divorced, people talk. The man you have been hanging around with is good quite alright but you just can’t be in a relationship as a divorced woman. You have to be serious and committed. You move around together freely and very soon people will start concluding the rumor Philip has been feeding people that you actually left with another manâ.. her mother said.
âmum, I love him and that is why I am with him. people can talk quite alright but I know what I wantâ.. she said.
âBut my daughter does he seem serious, like ready forâŠâ
Patience quickly interrupted her mother as she showed her mother the ring.
âMum do you mean thisâ she said as she showed her mother the ring.
âHe asked you to marry him?â her mother asked in shock as her eyes widened.
âYes mum todayâ.. Patience responded.
Her mother immediately knelt down and lifted her hands in the air as she cried in a song
âWho can say a thing and it comes to pass? Until the lord allows itâ.. Her mother sang.
Patience knelt down beside her mother and worshiped with her as they cried.
It was a touching moment, no one could explain the joy that the two shared but it was from above.
Patience then explained to her mother concerning Elvinâs relatives and she agreed to have them over the following weekend.
âMum I want to start the teachings right awayâ.. Patience said excitedly.
âNo problem my daughter this time you will go through the full traditional teachings and you will be fully baked for itâ.. Her mother laughed.
âMum we have to pick a day for fasting every week and in fact we have to fast the day before they comeâ.. Patience said.
âThatâs right my daughter, my heart is at peace, I know this is Gods doing. Iâm not angry or overwhelmed like I was on your previous marriageâ.. Her mother said.
Patience took her motherâs hand and smiled.
âWhat would I do without you? She said.
Patience immediately called her sisters on a conference call and broke the news to them.
The excitement in south Africa and America was contagious. All her sisterâs accepted to come and even her two immediate older sisters who had initially failed to come for her first marriage confirmed they would be coming from America.
Elvin came from a family of two children, his older sister was married in the United States and she met with Patienceâs sisters as they agreed to fly for the wedding together. Elvinâs mother danced when she received the news of Elvin getting a wife and when he introduced Patience to his mother, she was even more happy and proud and congratulated her son for having such great taste.
Elvinâs mother accepted Thandiwe whole heartedly and the bond she created with Patienceâs mother was like they had known each other for years. It was almost like Elvinâs mother and Patienceâs mother were sisters from another mother. They were both widows and had similar interests.
Tisa had fallen pregnant again and unfortunately miscarried when she realised Philip was dating his secretary. Philip was verbally abusive and they often argued over money that he rarely brought home. Philip lost his job without official notice and he was running from one court to another to sue for his benefits. Tisaâs boutiques brought the money home and it was much harder to survive.
