CHAPTER EIGHT
I turned and looked for the voice that had called but I didn’t see anyone. At first I thought I was imagining things or hallucinating, but the voice called again and I turned around and looked again but still yet no one.
I concentrated on my phone till the driver tapped me pointing to a gentleman who was crossing the road. He said the guy has been calling me since. Looking to that direction I discovered it was indeed Chris. He was so smartly dressed and looking even more handsome. My eyes almost popped out in shock and disbelief. I ran towards him and hugged him very excited. He to open his arms and held me tightly not wanting to let go.
“ Chris!?” I shouted in disbelief.
“ is this really you?”
“ Hahaha, Annie I should be asking you that Question. What are you doing here? How did you get here in the first place?. How have you been Annie?”
“Hahahah one question at a Time Chris” I said whipping a one road river tear that had made it way down my cheekbone
“ I thought I will never see you again” I continued
“What are you doing?. Please let’s look for somewhere and talk.”
“ Okay that would be only after I have dropped my sister’s goods at home” I pointed to the truck.
“ Okay then I will get them and we go drop it together and then go somewhere and talk. I have missed you so much my Annie”
“And I have equally missed you so very much Chris. I miss your smile, your laughter and most importantly your stories.”
He took out all the things with the help of the driver and then he handed him a 1000frs for his troubles.
Few seconds later we were home already. My friend came out and I introduced them.
“wow! That was fast” Maria said.
“Yeah, right. I had a helping hand” I said pointing at Chris who was unpacking the good from the car to the living room.
“And who is that?”
“ That’s Chris!” I said smiling
“ You mean the Chris!” she said with her eyes wide open.
“Chris! The Your military boyfriend?”
“Mm hmm!!. Wait ! What?. I didn’t say he was my military boyfriend.”
“Well you Loved him and he loved you and you guys share so much together, so definitely he is your military boyfriend”
“Aww!! He’s cute though” she exclaimed in excitement as she made her way to the seating room.
“ Hi!” Maria greeted
“Hello!”
“You must be Chris, the lost love of my sister” she said smiling
“ Yes am called Chris” he said blushing.
“ And you must be maria the sister and Best friend of Ann?”
“Yeap! The one and only!!!” Maria Answered as we all burst out laughing
“ Heard a lot about you! Nice to finally meet you Chris”
“Same here Maria.”
I told Maria Chris and I are going out somewhere to talk a little. I promise to come back and help her out.
Chris and I entered his car and left. He knew everywhere in town and so he promised to take me to his favorite places each time we were free to hang out, finally found themselves unshackled from the chains that had bound them. Their love, once veiled by circumstance and obstacles, now stood bare and unyielding.
“Ann, our love has weathered storms, scaled mountains, and crossed vast oceans. It’s as if the universe conspired to bring us together.”
Ann’s eyes brightened with tears of joy.
“Chris,” she replied, “our hearts navigated treacherous paths, but here we are
She leaned her head on his shoulder.
“Chris,” she confessed, “I’ve loved you since the first moment I saw you at the roadside walking majestically towards me.”
He chuckled. “And I,” Chris said, “was smitten by your determination, your unwavering spirit. To go against all odds to make us work”
I thought this was the ending of my suffering, I thought it was to end like this but little did I know that my real love journey had just started. I didn’t know what awaited me was ten times worst what I had faced.
As we continued talking, Chris’ phone rang. The very moment he set his eyes on the phone, his bright and Smiley face became gloomy, his dimples disappeared and his eyes darkened. He hurriedly rejected the call and pretended like nothing had happened.
