Precious couldn’t sleep tonight, because she was thinking about what David have told her earlier, she never imagined that the man would be asking her to marry him.
Well she wanted to get married, she wanted a man to ask her that question, but definitely not the way David did it.
She couldn’t believe that she could be receiving another indecent proposal from him, though she knows that David was just desperate because of his inheritance, that he couldn’t get unless he get married.
She slept off, she wake up very early in the morning to prepare a breakfast, immediately she finished preparing the breakfast her mother walk inside the kitchen.
“Good morning mummy”
Good morning my beautiful baby girl, how are you doing this morning? And you already prepared breakfast for us?, Her mother asked her.
Yes mum i decide to prepare breakfast today, you have been the one doing it. So how is my father? Is he still sleeping?.
Yes he’s sleeping, he felt tightening on his chest but he is okay now.
Mum i think we should take him to the hospital for check-up, you know he has a heart attack before.
Alright i will go and wake him so that he can have his breakfast first, then we can take him to the hospital.
“P—precious, please call the ambulance, her mother shouted on top of her lungs as soon as she got into their room”.
She felt like her heart stop breathing, she hurriedly went into their room.
M—mom what happened, she could see that , her father’s eye’s were closed.
Please go and call the emergency hotline, her mother shouted again.
She quickly went out to call the emergency line, tears was already dropping on her cheeks.
She gave them the address of their house and went back to check on her father.
It didn’t take a while and finally the ambulance arrived.
Inside the ambulance, her father was given the first and they connected the oxygen to him and other apparatuses in his body.
“What happened to him,she asked one of the medical team.
I think it’s potential cardiac, but we need to confirm first.
Is he okay?
To be honest he is in coma and we have to pray that he is okay, and his brain was not affected, he was lacking oxygen earlier when we arrived.
It didn’t take long and finally they arrived at the hospital, as soon as the ambulance stop her father was taking to emergency room.
Precious felt pity to her father.
“The patient have a severe heart attack, and we need to perform surgery, the doctor said to her mother”.
She saw how her mother felt like a melting candle, she couldn’t hold her tears and she cried.
Iam sorry if this happened, the patient need to be in ICU until the surgery happened so that we can monitor him closely.
Doctor I’m the daughter of the patient, what do we need to get the surgery done.
Let’s go in my clinic and we can discuss further, he said and started to walk away.
She felt like a bucket of ice was poured on her, she didn’t know what to say after everything the doctor said.
Precious and her mother walk inside the doctor’s office.
Hello ma’am we will be needing 20 million naira for the surgery and you have to deposit half of the money so that we can start the treatment.
But doctor we can we get that kind of amount of money, her mother said and she started crying again.
I understand ma’am, so I’m encouraging you to reach out to charities and organization for heart patient.
That would help you and also to remind you that we need the operation urgently and it has forty percent chance that it will be successful.
Is that the only thing that we could do? Doctor, is there any other alternate for my father to be well.
No this is what we recommend and it’s up to you as his family member to decide wether to take it or not, the doctor said to her and her mother.
Precious was on the hall way when her phone rang.
Hello David, she answered the call as soon as she saw her name.
Where are you no one is at home? You didn’t tell me that you are leaving the house today.
No I’m sorry we have an emergency today, we are at the hospital, she said while trying to hold back her tears.
What happened? Who is in the hospital?.
It’s dad we brought him to the hospital, because he lost consciousness, she told him the name of the hospital before she hang the call.
Few minutes later David arrived at the hospital.
She was thinking on how to raise the money when David called her name.
David she called him and broke down in tears.
Don’t worry everything is going to be fine, he rub her back.
Tell me what is wrong with your father.
Dad needs to have surgery and we needed a huge amount of money she said, we cannot afford the money and i don’t know what to do.
He hold her hand precious Money is not a problem here.
Precious was shocked to hear what David just said.
Go and tell the doctor that you will have your father undergo the surgery as soon as possible, David said in a firm voice.
But David i don’t have that kind of money.
Look precious we are talking about your father here, Money can be earn but you cannot bring back your father’s life and I’m not referring to your money, i will pay for the surgery.
Precious could see the sincerity in his face.
No you cannot do that, she said.
Why? Tell me? Would your pride be more important than your father’s life, he said straight to her face.
You know i can’t afford to pay you back, I’m not yet working and my mom is earning a little in her business
Precious pay me when ever you can.
Is he really think 20 million naira is a coin, she couldn’t believe that the man is doing everything for her.
Look I’m not doing it for you or for any other reason, if that’s what is running in your head and you are having a problem of accepting my offer, your mom has been so kind to me when I’m still in Italy, so i consider it as a pay back for being grateful.

Just tell me when you need the money, and i will provide it for you. He pulled her so closely and hug her.
I know that you are in pain Inside, i know that you love your father so much, i know that you are afraid for what could happen to your father.

She felt cold in her heart
