MY DAUGHTER MY WIFE
Episode 12
“My Donna, what is the problem? Why are you covering yourself with this thick duvet by this time of the day? Are you okay? Do you feel sick?” I asked Madonna as soon as I got home and rushed straight into my bedroom to find her totally covered under the duvet.
“Leave me alone. You decided to ignore me since morning, and left your mother to do as she wills with me, why are you now asking as if you care?” she asked me, beginning to sob.
“No baby, you can’t say that. How could I have abandoned you when you know you’re the only one that matters to me in this life?
“I went to work and had a very busy day, but as soon as I could, I ran home, but not before I got you your favourite. See? I got all these for you” I told her, lifting up the bag containing her usuals and got her forcing herself to hold her smile back.
“Come on, you can smile you know! It’s me!” I told her, tickling her sides, and she began to giggle loudly, turning me on.
One thing led to another, and we had our ‘welcome home sxx’ before she began to devour her food and I walked to the sitting room to say hi to my mother before she came to my room in annoyance.
I noticed how she looked at me as I rushed past her sitting in the sitting room, and I knew even though she seemed to ignore me, she’d certainly come banging on the door sooner than later.
Pleasing my wife and my mother had become almost like flying over the infamous ‘Bemuda triangle’ because their interests were clearly opposing.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t any of them I was willing to let remain màd at me, so I was always fighting to keep each of them happy.
All my life, I never knew a time would come when I’d have to find a way to please the two people that now matters so much to me.
I never imagined that a wife can be so important and so clingy, and never did I think that my mother would ever choose to come live with me.
My younger brother told me she decided to stay because she told them I was under spell, so she needed to keep an eye on me.
It’s funny, but I know they won’t understand why I feel the need to indulge my wife, so it’s okay that they think what they like, but what worried me as I walked into the sitting room and didn’t see my mother where I had left her when I was running into the room to attend to Madonna, was why my mother was becoming too quiet about things I expected her to talk about.
“Iyà mí, I got you something on my way back” I told my mother and was surprised that she asked about my job instead, totally ignoring what I had said.
“Very well iyà mì. I was able to deliver the presentation my boss needed, and everything is okay.
“You see? You have to stop worrying too much about me and my job, I have everything under control” I told her, trying to sound very convincing, even though I was still worried about the trip to Chicago and how it’ll affect my relationship with Madonna.
“Look Andrew, I know you’re an adult and should be allowed to take your own decisions, but you see the way you’re going about this girl, there’s no mother who would sit and watch things get out of hand with her son and do nothing.
“You said the reason you wanted to marry her was to ensure your first biological child doesn’t get taken away from you, but it seems she’s on the way to taking your life and everything it’s worth away from you!
“I saw your friend that came to pick you up earlier today, and I can tell that something isn’t okay in your work place, and now, you still rushed home before closing time.
“Tell me, have you been fired? Did you get dismissed already?” She asked me with worry showing all over her face.
“Ah ah! I didn’t get fired. I was asked to come home before closing time because I need to prepare for a trip to Chicago. My boss is sending me and some others on my team to Chicago for a business deal.
“The trip is supposed to last for two weeks and I’m expected to put my house in order before I leave, that’s why I was allowed to come home now” I liked smoothly.
“Oh really? You were asked to put your house in order or your room in order Andrew? You are not talking to a little child. I am only hoping that you aren’t playing with your life” she told me
“I just had to go in to be sure Madonna wasn’t having any of those moods swings pregnant people are known for. Please understand iyà mì, all I’m doing is because of the baby” I told her, forgetting that I had already told her that I love Madonna.
She looked at me and decided to ignore my slip. “When are you leaving for your trip?” she asked me instead, brightening up in a way that made me think she was happy about the trip.
And so, before I left my mother’s room, I had been able to calm her fray nerves and made her smile happily again.
The news of my planned trip kinda brought peace to my house, because my mother had miraculously chosen to ignore whatever Madonna did, and Chuks my friend, had now taken it upon himself to always come to pick me up in the morning, so I didn’t have any issues with my boss again.
The General Manager seemed very happy with his decision to give me a salary raise, because he assumed the hope of the raise helped me calm my home and now enabled me work as expected.
My days began to run smoothly and peacefully, and before I knew it, the day for departure had come and Madonna was crying as if she just lost her husband.
She rode with me to the airport and nearly created a scene with her cries as I was forced to get out of her hands to check in.
Chuks my friend had offered to drive me to the airport, and even though my mother had insisted that Madonna stayed at home, she insisted on accompanying me to the airport and Chuks agreed it was okay, promising to return her home after dropping me off.
“I’ll be back before you know it my Donna, I’ll be in touch every second of the day, and I’ll make sure that my friend Chuks delivers your usual every day” I promised her as I walked away, almost crying myself.
Chuks my friend was finding it hard keeping her from rushing after me, and when I turned back to look again, she was crying pitifully, resting her head on Chuks shoulder.
“I didn’t know your wife is this young” Sola, one of my colleagues told me as we boarded.
“Oh, she is” was all I could say, and took my seat, looking as sad as I could be, and wishing I hadn’t agreed to go on the trip.
Since the first day I made love to Madonna, I’ve never had to stay a day without her, so while we were flying to Chicago, my mind was preoccupied with what I’ll do with myself when I start missing her.
