Episode 3
Around 12am, we left the bar together, entered his black Mercedes SUV and headed towards concord hotel. We stopped at a junction close to where lots of young runs girls were standing and waiting for customers. We sat silently in the car, saying nothing while my heart raced quickly. I couldn’t help but wonder the operation they were about to embark on.
Soon Kelvin’s phone alarm rang.
‘’2am’’ he announced, throwing a quick look at his guys who were seated at the back.
‘’now this is Zack, Fred and Natt’’ he finally introduced them to me. I nodded
‘’you wanted to know what we do, here is your chance’’ he added as Zack jumped out of the car, opened the boot and returned with a sack bag which he opened, bringing out two AK 47 rifles and two pistols which he shared to everyone apart from me. I held my breathe. I was filled with excitement. I wasn’t scared a bit.
Quietly we stayed in the car and waited till one range rover speed sped by and Kelvin chased after him with his car. It wasn’t long before he blocked the car when the driver slowed down at a bad spot. The three guys at the back jumped down, firing shots into the air as they pulled down the driver and his female friend.
They pushed the man into the back of his car while one of them took over the wheels and quickly speed off . Kelvin followed after them, diverting when we got to another junction and headed towards my hotel.
‘’why aren’t you following them?’’ I asked. He said nothing and only smiled.
‘’I will pick you up tomorrow. Are you interested?’’ he asked when we got to my hotel.
‘’sure I’m’’ I answered without wasting time.
‘’goodnight then’’ he muttered as I jumped down. And yes that was how I joined Kelvin’s gang of kidnappers.
The next day one of his guys Fred showed up at the hotel and picked me up, together we headed to a big mansion at Egbu. It turned out to be Kelvin’s residence. And I noticed there wasn’t any sign of the kidnapped victim in the residence.
Inside the house I met seven more men among the ones I met yesterday. It was a full house

‘’let’s toast to our newest member’’ Kelvin announced, opening a big champagne bottle.
‘’he will be replacing Tosin’’ he added happily and they all cheered.
‘’so what happened to Tosin’’ I couldn’t help but ask afterwards
‘’he was gunned down during a failed kidnap attempt’’ was the answer I got and it sent chills down my spine. I wanted a rough life and was getting it double fold.
‘’so how about the guy we got yesterday?’’ I couldn’t help but ask when I got the chance.
‘’he’s at the safe house, well cared for. We have houses and people who are in charge of that. Once we kidnap, we hand them over to the guys at the safe house till when we reach agreement with the victim’s people. At the end of the day the proceeds are evenly shared across many departments’’ Kelvin explained.
