I’m a lazy stay-at-home mum and I don’t care

A mum-of-two has been slammed for embracing a ‘lazy’ lifestyle where she openly admits to ‘hating’ cleaning and lets dirty laundry and half-eaten food pile up for days.

Amanda Rose, from the US, is a stay-at-home mum who regularly showcases her everyday activities in the form of vlogs.

The 25-year-old was recently criticised for the ‘disgusting’ and ‘gross’ state of her home.

Amanda revealed that her entire floor is covered in dirty clothes and she simply ‘does not care’ enough to spend her whole day cleaning.

She would rather spend the time taking her children to the park or on a hobby, as she is ‘a mum, not a maid’.

In a recent video, Amanda took her followers on a journey through her messy kitchen.

‘This is my morning as a lazy mum,’ she said. ‘A lot of people ask me how I let my house get this bad, but to be honest – I just don’t clean up after myself or my kids.’

Amanda’s kitchen was piled high with dishes and had rotting food smeared over the counter.

There were clothes, shoes, crumbs, and toys covering almost every surface in the house, with boxes and cleaning instruments scattered throughout.

The mum doesn’t usually clean up after dinner and hence ends up throwing away her leftovers the next day.

‘Honestly, it’s gotten to the point where we can’t see the floor and we’re just walking over clothes all day. If we need an outfit we just get it out of the dryer.’

She added, ‘sometimes I will forget I’ve done laundry and I leave it in my washer for two days and I have to start the process all over again.’

‘Some people can’t go to sleep knowing their house looks like this, but I’m the complete opposite. I just close my eyes and fall asleep.

‘I feel like if I were to clean constantly through the day, that’s the only thing I would have time for.

‘I’m a stay-at-home mum, but I’m not a maid. Cleaning is the duty of being a stay-at-home mum and I am cleaning but I will just do one big clean and then let my kids mess it up all day.’

Amanda shared that she was ‘fine’ with strangers criticising the way she lives and that it doesn’t bother her.

Many thanked Amanda for being honest about what her house was like.

‘By the time I’ve cooked, fed the kids, bathed the kids, and put them to bed – I’m not cleaning!’ a mum said.

‘Girl! This is life! Cleaning with kids is like trying to brush your teeth while eating Oreos,’ another wrote.

‘It’s so easy to fall behind on chores and cleaning, and we shouldn’t feel bad or embarrassed about it,’ another said.

But others slammed her for the ‘unsanitary environment’ she was raising her children in.

‘Aren’t you worried about all the cockroaches, ants, and mice probably crawling all over your home?’ a man asked.

‘I have five children under five-years-old and my house has never gotten this bad,’ a mum said. ‘What’s wrong with you?’

‘No, I couldn’t wake up to that. You have a dishwasher and a dryer – why is it so hard to use them? You wash and dry clothes until the mess is gone,’ a woman wrote.
