Heartbreak 4.
I was tensed and my heart was palpitating. I kept dialing her number but it wasn’t going through.
I kept trying to reach her but all to no avail. I was almost about giving up when it rang,
“Hello, hello. Nancy, where are you now”
“Why are you sounding like this. I am….”
“You’re where?….Nancy, Nancy, say something.”
She ended the call. I tried calling her again but this time around, her number was switched off. I almost developed high blood pressure that day.
I decided to step out at least to clear my head. I went to a beer parlor close to where I was staying.
I grabbed two bottles of alcoholic drinks as I settled down on the seat there. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Frank my Friend told me about my wife, Nancy.
As I was gulping down the drink, I noticed that this slim lady wouldn’t stop staring at me.
At first, I thought it was nothing as I kept drinking my beer.
Immediately I tried to open the second bottle of drink, I noticed someone standing in front of me.
“Good day Sir. My name is Catherine. Can I get to know your name?”
“Alright. I am Emeka”
“Sorry to disturb your night. I’ve been watching you from a distance and I can tell that you look troubled. Do you mind sharing the problem with me?”, She asked concerned.
“Errrrm, I don’t want to bother you with my problem. I really don’t want to talk about it now”, I smirked.
“Alright thank you but we can be friends,right”
“Sure”, I echoed.
She brought out her phone and collected my phone number. We didn’t talk much but I became attracted to her instantly probably because I was tipßy.
I spent some time before I left the beer parlor.
When I got home that night, I slept off and forgot about what Frank told me about my wife.
I woke up in the morning to receive a text message from the lady I met in the bar.
“Hello good morning. Just wanted to know whether you got home safely yesterday. I was so worried about you”
I read the message over and over again before I replied her.
“Yes, I got home safely. Thanks so much for your concern”
After some minutes she called me back..
“Would you be free today after work? Let’s go and grab few drinks. Bills on me!”, She chuckled.
I agreed to go out with her after work because I needed to clear my head. We had few drinks that evening as we chatted as if we’ve known each other for ages.
Catherine was so lively and fun to be with. Soon enough, I started forgetting what Frank my friend told me about my wife, Nancy.
Catherine cared for me and made sure I was never sad or worried again.
I began to fall helplessly in love with her unconsciously.
