From frying pan to fire episode 5

(The last fight)

I tiptoed out of the compound and stepped into the streets. It felt deeply liberating to once again test freedom after many days in captivity during which I nearly died in the hands of Master the ritualist.

The day was bright and the sun was smiling at me as I walked on the street with happiness. I was happy that I was not dead. I’m still alive to seek revenge.

“I must now find my uncle Roland and kill him. I will also go to the village and kill my mother.” I said as I turned and entered Diobu street where uncle Roland lived. When I entered Diobu street, I suddenly remembered that I had no weapons with which to fight Roland.

“I have to go back to the ritualist house. I will go and steal a gun.” I said, turning back to where I was coming from. I didn’t know what was pushing me, but that seemed to be the right thing to do. My uncle always keeps guns at home and it would be dangerous and foolish to return to his house unarmed after attempting to kill him the other day. I have to prepare for the worse.

Soon, I was back in the ritualists house. I pushed the gate and found no one in the compound. It’s strange that after I killed Master with the rat poison, no one showed up. I went into the first dungeon where I was locked and it was open. The guard was sitting on a chair with his gun on his lap. He was deeply asleep. His mouth was widely open and flies were buzzing around his lips. At some points, I began to think that he was dead, but upon a closer examination, I saw his pot belly moving up and which means he is still breathing.

I tiptoed very close and carefully removed his hands from the AK47 riffle and lifted it up. It was so heavy. Suddenly, the guard woke up, I wanted to run but I remembered my suffering in the ritualist den.

I pulled the trigger and shot him dead. I put the gun into my gown. It was so long that I touched my lap and even stuck out in the collar of the gown around my neck area. I ran out of the compound hoping that the gun won’t go off and kill me.

Soon, I was back in Diobu street. I turned and faced the direction of my uncle’s house. I was moving very fast. I don’t know what time it was, but the sun seemed to be setting.

“I hope I will meet my uncle at home.” I said to myself as I approached the gate. I pushed the gate and it opened without hassles.

I removed the gun from my gown and got ready to shoot anything on my way.

“Finally, my day of revenge is here. After suffering sexual abuse in the hands of my uncle. After suffering in the den of ritualists. After my mother sold me to uncle Roland like a goat. I can finally kill my enemies.” I said. As I approached the door of my uncle’s massive mansion, I started hearing conversations from the inner house.

“The female voice sounds familiar. The person is talking like my mother. What is she doing here?” I asked myself.

“Where is my daughter?” I was now close enough to see that the woman questioning my uncle is actually my mother. It was shocking to see her sudden care for me. I never thought she would come looking for me in Port Harcourt.

“Where is my daughter, Roland? I’m dying! I have cancer! My time on earth is up and all the mistakes I have made are haunting me. I want to make peace with my daughter before I die.” My mother said. She was standing in the dining area where Uncle Roland was eating absentmindedly. He seemed unconcerned by my mother’s fierce countenance.

“I said I don’t know where she is. She tried to kill me and she did not succeed. Look at this mark on my head, she gave me the mark with a bottle. Thank God she did not succeed in killing me.” Uncle Roland said.

“I will succeed this time around.” I said softly as I entered the room. They head me clearly and both of them turned towards my direction.

“Today is your last day, both of you. I was planning to go to the village and kill you, but you made it easier by coming here.” I told my mother. I pulled the trigger and shot my mother’s leg. She fell and screamed in pain.

“Oh my God! You shot your own mother?” She asked. I shot her again in the second leg. Her blood was flowing like river. My uncle tried to run, but it was too late. I shot him on the head and it was over. He died instantly.

“My daughter what happened to you? Who turned you into this beast?” My mother asked. She was talking soberly and her voice was very remorseful, but I had no single pity for her. She tried to stand up, but she collapsed again.

“Please tell me the story. I know I made mistakes, please forgive me. Tell me what happened after you left the village. Who gave you this gun? Chai, chim o! See what I did to my daughter!” My mother said with her hands on her head.

“Mama. You don’t want to hear the story. The story has ended.” I said. I placed my right leg on her chest and shot her on the head and she gave up the ghost. I felt very satisfied and deeply happy. I walked out of the compound and surrendered myself to the police.

The END.
