Chapter Five
Jessica’s POV
“Lunch is ready..who wants some fruit salad”I say as Ana joins me in the dining room..
“Me..me..!!”Ana says as she sits on one of the chairs…ana is a sweet little girl and a replica of her mother..it feels so good to have my friend stay with me for sometime..I won’t say I like the fact that she left her husband but I really enjoy the little girl’s company..Naomi has been really devasted since she came..she hardly talks or eat.. I understand her..she’s heartbroken just like me.. thankfully I didn’t marry Jide if not my case would have been similar to nao..
“Where’s your mummy..go call her to come have lunch..”I say..
“I did so but she told me she isn’t hungry yet..”Ana says..
“Okay..you continue eating..I’ll go get her..”I say going upstairs as I entered the room..Naomi seated on the bed watching the windows..as I joined her..
“Nao..lunch is ready..I made your favorite..you’re gonna love it..fruit π₯ salad..”I say with a very huge smile on my face..I just want to see my friend happy..I know it must be really hard for her now but I pray with time she ll get pass it..
“Thanks..I’m not hungry..”she replied..
“Oh come on nao..don’t be like that..see let me tell you something..I know what you’re going through isn’t easy but you have to be strong..for your daughter..for all of us..please eat something..even if it’s just a little..”I say..
After few seconds of silence Naomi nods..in agreement as we both went downstairs to eat..
“This is delicious..”Naomi says complimenting the salad..
“Yes..right..I knew you would love..it..”I say..
“You’re a fantastic cook..”Ana says as she stands up from the chair..
“Going to play videogames..?”I asked..
“Yes aunt Jessie..please come and join me..”she pleaded..
“Alright..go on..I’ll join you soon..”I say as I watched Anna leave I and her mom alone .
“Thank you Jessie..you ve been such a great friend..if it hadn’t been for you I’ll be on the streets by now..”Naomi says .
“No don’t thank me..thank yourself for being a wonderful woman..and you can always count on me on whatever you may need..I’ll be glad to help..”I say..
“First thing is how do I get a job..my stories pay aren’t that enough to pay Anna’s school fees..and..”
I cut in not letting her finish her statement..
“What..I thought your husband paid the school fees already…”I asked..
“Hmm..no..nelson didn’t pay anything..”
“So how much is it then…?”I asked .
“It’s thirty thousand..”
“Oh..well first thing tomorrow we’ll go to the school and pay..”I say..
“Easy for you to say..I don’t have any money on me..”Naomi says .
“That doesn’t mean I can’t pay for you..”I replied..
“No..no..you can’t be serious..”Naomi says shaking her head..
“Well I am..I’m going to pay for the fees..and don’t worry my friend.. everything will be alright..”I say..
“Really..thanks but I’ll pay you back..I can’t accept such huge amount.. you’ve already done enough by giving me a place to stay..”
“And I’m not complaining..infact there’s a vacancy in my company..one of my accountants need a secretary..and you will be the ideal person for that job..”
“Really nao..thank you so much..thank you.. God bless you..”Naomi says as her phone beeps..
“Speak of the devil and here he is..”Nao says .
“Answer it..”I say as I sipped my orange juice..
“I don’t think I should..”Naomi says .
“Let’s just see what he wants..c’mon.. answer it..”I persuaded till she finally picks it.
π±What is it now..?”Naomi says loudly..
π±”Where the hell are you..don’t play this games with me..you must return to this house immediately..”Nelson yells..
π±”You don’t get to tell me what to do with my life..what..are you tired of sleeping with your new girlfriend..just get used to the fact that I’m not coming back to that house anymore..”
π±You won’t separate me from my daughter..you better show up soon or you’ll regret it .
π±”You know what nelson.. I’m not afraid of you anymore and if you really loved your daughter..you should have thought about it before fooling yourself around with some cheap sluts..
π±”You’re lucky I’m not seeing you..Naomi..come back to this house right now..or else..
π±”Or else what you coward.. you’re gonna beat me because that’s the only thing you can do..that was then but not anymore..I’m a strong woman now and I won’t let you pull me down again..”Naomi says .
π±”Your friends..your friends are advising you to do this right..I should have known..they want you to be single just like them right..?”
π±”No one is advising me..and this better be the last time you call me..cause I don’t want to hear from you ever again..”Naomi says hanging up immediately..
“What did he say??”
“What he says doesn’t matter to me anymore..let’s just focus on the bright side of our lives..”Nao say as I nod..
Abigail’s POV
I cannot believe this.. after ten years of marriage..Arnold just throw it all away..seeing him with that woman makes me want to throw up..I can’t stand her..i lay down on the couch thinking I can be able to rest without having to think too much but no..it doesn’t happen..maybe I should just go visit angel and the others.. perhaps that would do me some good..I stand up on my feet and just then Arnold walks in through the front door..
“Babe..baby please we need to talk..”Arnold says..
“I don’t have anything to talk about..”I say facing another side..I can’t bear looking into Arnold’s eyes..
“Baby I know you’re mad at me but please give me a chance to explain myself..”
“What’s there to explain..you’re enjoying yourself..you’re free to..I don’t care..”I say even though that’s a lie.
“Abby..Abby..I’m sorry for not believing you when you told me my mother bribed you just to stay away from me.. I should have trusted you..I shouldn’t have left the house and I regret ever leaving this house..you know I don’t get drunk unnecessarily..and that woman..that woman wasn’t with me.. infact I don’t remember sleeping with her..I just woke up and I saw her on my bed..baby please you have to believe me..”
“Liar..take a good look at me..I’m not a stupid teenager..I know you’re lying..how can a woman just appear on your bed just like that..come on..you really think I’ll believe such nonsense?”I yelled at him angrily..
“It’s not nonsense babe..it’s the truth..I swear..baby I think my mom is behind all these..I swear..”
“Hmm..now you’re putting the blame on your mother..you were drunk..you possibly don’t know what you’re saying now..”I say..
“Honey please I beg of you..please forgive me..please..”
“Hmmmm..I don’t know Arnold..I saw both of you kissing..”
Arnold moved closer to me as he grabbed me by the hands..staring into my eyes..
“She forced that kiss on me..you know I’ll never betray you..honey..”
“I’m not sure if you’re lying to me or not right now Arnold.. but I just want you to be honest.. with me..did you two have s*x with eachother?”I asked..hoping the answers is no..
“I don’t know..I was drunk..too drunk to even notice anything..”
“Hmm..I forgive you..”I say..
“Really my love..thank you so much..I love you..”Arnold says showering my faces with kisses..
“I love you too..I don’t want you to ever leave me like that anymore..you got me worried..”
“I promise..no matter the arguements we have..I’ll never leave..”Arnold says as he kisses me on my lips..
Angel’s POV
“You can’t keep me locked in here forever..”I say slowly.. I’m in pains right now and very weak too..I think I passed out earlier..but I’m conscious now..I cannot believe Frank would go to this length just to keep me away from my friends..this is crazy..
“You brought this to yourself honey..I warned you..”frank says going through my phone..
“What..what are you doing with my phone..?”I asked..
Frank had tied me up on the bed so there was no way for me to get up..this is alot more serious than I thought..frank is gradually making the love I feel for him turn to hatred..
“Checking your texts..let’s see this one..oh it’s your dear friend Mark calling..should I pick it..?hmmm..no..!”Frank says cutting the call..
“Frank please..untie me..I’m hurting..you can’t do this to me..I have work..we both have our works to do.. please release me..”I pleaded..
“Hmm..mm..I will but on one condition..”
“What..what is it?”
“Tell that goodie goodie friend of yours to meet you in a particular location..I’m going to call him now and you’re gonna speak to him..you will tell him to meet up in my warehouse at Mary estate..”
“But why would I do so..what are you going to do to him..?”I asked worriedly..Frank is going too far with all of these.
“That’s none of your business sweetheart..you tell him..that..and don’t you even think of betraying me..”
“Okay.. okay..fine I will..but promise me you’ll release me afterwards..”
“sure..”Frank says as he dials mark number.. immediately mark picks the call..frank placed the phone in my ears..
π±”Hello mark..”I say trying not to sound too worried..
π±Hey Angie..have been trying your phone but you didn’t pick..I left you plenty of messages but you did not reply..what’s the matter?
π±Nothing..I was very busy..this morning.. you know work and stuff..
π± I’m at your gym company and some of your workers told me you aren’t around..
π±Well only few of my workers know I’m around..lets forget about that for now..tell me why you’re calling..?
Nelson gives me sign to remember where he wants Mark to meet up..but I just ignored him.
π±I missed you..look Angie I know you’re a married woman now but I just can’t help it..my feelings for you are very strong..right from the day we first met..”Mark says
“I would really like if we could meet up..”Mark continues.
“oh..”I say..not knowing what next to do.
“How about we meet today?”Mark says..
“Okay let’s meet at Mary’s Estate..”
“That’s a warehouse..we can meet at a restaurant..don’t worry I’ll pay for the bills”Mark says..
“No..the thing is..I don’t want people seeing us together..you know I’m married..and I’m very known in this town..I don’t want people spreading false rumors that’s why I want to meet up in a very discreet area..”I say.
“Okay..at what time then..?”
“Uhmm..”
“7pm “Nelson whispers into my ears.
“Hello..are you there?”Marks says .
“Uhmm yes..seven on the dot..”I say as Frank immediately hangs up..
“What are your plans.. frank.. please don’t do anything stupid..”I begged..
“Why do you care so much about this your friend?”
“Because I care..frank..I’ll be really honest with you..if anything happens to mark..I swear on my last name..i ll never forgive you..”I say..
“Relax…honey..it’s just a little scare..it’s not like I want to kill him.. excuse me and enjoy yourself on that bed till I’m done with my mission..”
“I thought you promised to release me after what I did for you..”I say..
I should not have trusted Frank..each time I look at him I think of how on earth I married a monster like him..I loved him once but with all these wickedness and jealous act..my love is slowly fading away..
“Yeah but I lied.. you’re staying indoor untill you learn that you’re mine..”Frank says before heading out of the room..
I struggled to get my hands off the tight ropes but there’s no way out..I need help..I. need to get out of this damn bed..oh my God..help me..
Jessica’s POV
“Isn’t it strange that angel hasn’t called any of us..?”Abby says..joining I and Naomi in the garden..
Since naomi isn’t living in her home anymore..this would be our new hangout..I have to work from home..there’s no way I’ll my girlfriends alone in this kind of horrible situation..
“That’s weird..I called her office this morning and they said she hasn’t showed up..”I say..
“Really..I think we need to check on her..you know angel isn’t that kinda of woman that stays in all day..”Abby says .
“Yeah..I just hope she’s alright..”Naomi says..
“Hey what’s up with you..you look really stressed out..like you didn’t have enough sleep..?”I questioned Abby..
“Hm..well..last night is a long story but it’s all good now..I rather not talk about it..now..how are you doing Naomi?”Abby asked..
“Good..all thanks to Jessie..”
“Let me call angie again..”Abby says trying angies number..
“Is it ringing..?”I asked..
“No..I think I should go check on her.. you guys stay here I’ll be right back..”Abby says as she left our midst..
“Oh Lord when are all these nightmares going to finally end..?”Naomi says..
“Soon..nao..soon..”
Just then I heard a knock on my door..I immediately leave the garden as I made my way to the living room..I opened the door and it’s My mother..”mom..come in..”I say as she walks in behind her was someone who looked very familiar..isn’t that..Jide..
“What are you doing here?”I asked him but he says nothing..
“He came with me..please..let him in..”My mother says and I do not want to disrespect her not now that Naomi is around..
I leave the way as Jide walks in with my mother..I do not know what they’re up to but I’m not ready to forgive anyone right now..
“My daughter..I know that you don’t want to see Jide but please I beg you.. hear him out..I’ll leave the two of you to discuss..”My mom says as she exits the living room..
“So what..do you want to talk about?”I asked….
Abigail’s POV
After knocking at the door twice..no response I begin to start thinking the worse..I hope angel is alright in there..i went straight to the rooms windows as I called out for Angel..after calling her severally I heard her say something that sounds like help me..seems she’s in trouble..how the hell do I get in here..
The window is opened and big enough to enter so I squeezed in a little bit.. fortunately for me I’m not that busty so I was able to slide into the room with my back landing on the floor..
“Abby..please..help me..”
Angel’s POV
The minute I sighted Abigail making her way through the window..my heart was filled with joy..finally I get to be freed..I have to stop frank before he does something crazy..
“Don’t worry.. you’ll be fine..”Abi says untying the ropes..from the bed…I immediately stand up from the bed as the both of us hugged eachother..
“Who did this to you..?’Abby asked..
“It doesn’t matter now..I need to get out of this place immediately.. Mark is in danger..”I say running out from the room as Abby followed me..
Where are my keys..my keys..I checked the dining area..I dropped my car keys here.. but I can’t find them..
“Don’t worry..you can take my car..let’s go..”Abby suggests as we both run out of the house..
Jessica’s POV
It feels so awkward talking to your ex lover because somehow I feel like I’m speaking to a total different man..that’s if Jide is a changed man..I don’t trust all these but I won’t ruin the moment either..
“So how are you..doing..seeing someone already?”Jide teases..
“No..no I’m not and would never be like you..I don’t move on that easily..”
“I thought we already talked about this..”
“Oh really..you started..”I say raising my voice as Jide stands up from the couch we’re seated at.
“Jess..I told you..that lady means nothing to me..I mean she’s my cousin not my lover..is it that hard to get?”
“Yeah.. fine..I don’t care who you go out with..I really don’t..let’s just end this conversation because we are never getting back together…”I say as my Mother joins us..
“Jessie please forgive him..have a heart..my daughter..please..”My mom says..but I’m not buying any of that..she only cares about her friend’s and what people would say..she doesn’t care if Jide might betray me again..
“Mom please.. you’re not going to tell me what to do..this man is a traitor..and if you continue supporting him..then why don’t you get married to him instead..?”
“Don’t be so disrespectful and lower your gourds down..accept him..”My mom says..
“Really..mom you can’t be serious now..have humbled my self for this peasant..I gave him everything on me but he he betrayed me thrice and that I will never forget.. and this is the last time you show up unannounced in my house with this disgrace of a man..”I say..even though I’m hurting inside .
It’s been only two weeks since we broke..up..I’m not going to let him see me as a weakling..I have to be strong to overcome all these..and my mother isn’t helping…
