My wicked step mother episode 12

My wīckèd step mother

Episode 12

Grandma walked out of her seat and went directly to dad. Dad kept a straight face. “Do you know what you are saying? You want your only child to leave your house and go stay in a boarding school? Oh! My daughter really made a mistake by marrying you.”

Grandma said and dad’s countenance changed almost immediately. “Grandma, please don’t talk to me in that manner. I’m only doing what’s best for my child,” dad said as he went swallowing hard.

“You know nothing and l promise you, you’ll regret this,” Grandma spat out àngrily and immediately took her leave. Sandra and Teddy kept mute all the while. I didn’t know when tears started to fall from my eyes.

I got up from my seat and l was ready to leave. “Joy! You might see me as a wîcked father but I’m not. I’m doing this for the best.”

I looked at him and I shook my head. I couldn’t interpret the expression on his face, my whole mind had been clouded with a lot of thoughts.

Grandma had waited for me in my room. I walked in and her expression was all downcast. She tapped on the bed, signalling for me to come and have my seat.

I walked so wastefully towards her, my world was crumbling. “Grandma, even if I must leave this house, I want to come with you. I don’t ever want to go to a boarding school. Please grandma, let me come with you,” I said shivering all over.

I was completely covered in sweat. I was in a pool of confusion. I went sitting on the bed, grandma held both my shoulders. “You’ll be clocking 14 very soon, you are no longer a kid. You are not going anywhere.”

I was surprised at what Grandma just said, was she going to abandone me to my fate?
“This is your father’s house. This is what your mom worked for. Do you want another person to reap where your mom had endlessly sown? Never, you’ll stay here and fight for what is yours.”

I swallowed hard as l watched her continue to talk. “If you leave now, you’ll lose connection with your dad. She’s bringing in a new baby very soon, do you want that child to leave you with nothing? Definitely not. So stay here and fight for what is yours,” grandma said and she suddenly got to her feet.

“I can’t stay for another day in this house, I’m leaving tomorrow morning. I’m not leaving you, I’ll definitely come to check up on you. When it’s the holidays, you can also come over. Be strong, fight this battle, use wisdom.”

She was about to take her leave when she suddenly stopped. “Always keep your enemiès closer. By so doing that, you’ll know their next move,” grandma said and she immediately left my room.

I felt cold chills, her last words rang continuously in my head. I cleaned my tears and undressed myself and made preparations to go and take a shower. Tonight was really going to be a long, cold night.

I had gotten up so early, took my bathe and prepared plantain and egg with tea. I checked my cooking skills, they were getting better, with the help of grandma and YouTube videos.

I sat by the dinning table as l consumed my breakfast, dad was coming of his room all dressed and prepared to go to work. “Good morning Dad, hope you slept well.” I asked with smiles beaming on my face.

My dad looked at me with suspicious eyes and then returned the greetings. “Hey, this is breakfast. Just take it before you leave,” I said and there was shock on dad’s face.

He moved closer to the dining table, “hmm…you prepared this?” dad asked as he sipped his tea. I nodded my head with smiles on my face and Sandra came coming down. the stairs with Teddy.

“Good morning Mom,” I greeted her and she looked so startled, she stammered as she returned the greeting. Teddy looked at me with a weird face and he snorted.

I winked at him and I went jumping off from my seat as I was done eating. Dad checked his watch and he exclaimed. He waved us goodbye and exited the house.

“I know you must be up to something but be rest assured that your days in this house are numbered, she said snapping her finger.

Grandma came walking down the stairs with her luggages. She asked about dad and I told her he had gone to work. “When he comes tell him I’ve left for home.” I was a bit unhappy and I went hugging grandma.

I smiled and I walked out of the house. Mr John was already outside waiting for Teddy and I so he could take us to school. Teddy came out if the house and be waved his mom goodbye I knew grandma would be gone before I come back home.

The silence in the car was as cold as ice. “So, our exams are right by the corner, hope you are prepared,” I said as Teddy made to look at me. “Sure, I am. Any problem?” Teddy asked as he took his eyes away from me.

“Just asking, wish you luck in advance,” I said smiling at him. We got to school and we went our separate ways. Throughout school, my mind was focused on what I could possibly do.

Teddy came sitting beside me after school as I waited for Mr John to come pick us. He looked into the deep and l thought of how to possibly get close to him.

“Teddy, I don’t want us to be strangers to ourselves. Please tell me more about you,” I asked him as I drew nearer to him.

“Erm…erm…why do you want to know more about me?” He asked with his eyebrows up.
I laughed and l went holding his hands. “I’m not your enèmy, I’m your kid sister,” I said and his serious look loosened a bit.

“Where is your dad, I asked and his countenance changed immediately. “He left us, he left mom. I don’t know where he is,” he said with a cold voice.

I restricted myself from feeling sorry for him, I had a mission to accomplish. “Oh, I’m so sorry about that,” I said with a fake expression of sadness on my face.

An hawker walked past us, she was selling banana. Teddy immediately began to search his pocket and he suddenly exclaimed, “Jeez, I’ve lost my money.”

“You wanna buy banana,” I asked and he nodded still searching his pocket and then his bag. I called on the hawker and she made to our direction.

I bought two bunches of banana for Teddy and there was this expression of thankfulness on Teddy’s face.

“I guess you love banana,” I said as Teddy went unwrapping the banana peels and devouring it. “Yes, it’s my favorite fruit,” Teddy managed to say amidst eating.

Mr John suddenly honked on us. We rushed to pack out things and we headed for the car.
We settled in and Teddy continued to eat his fruit.

He suddenly stopped as he began holding his tummy. “I think I’m gonna purge,Teddy managed to say squeezing his face.

We urged the driver to drive fast so as to get home quickly. We got home and Teddy went stuffing the remaining banana into his packs and he dashed into the house. I was surprised to see dad at home.

“Welcome lovelies,” dad said as he sat on the couch. Teddy rushed in and dad gave me a weird look. I returned the look with a smile and I walked into the room.

I stood by the door and dad went to the kitchen. He loved cooking his meals by himself whenever he was home. I perfectly timed everything.

Teddy got out of his room and walked down the stairs. He went calling his mom, she was still in her room. Teddy held some pieces of banana in his hand and he kept eating, he was really a monkey.

He walked sluggishly down the stairs and went straight to the kitchen. I came out of my room and l did what I had to do. I prayed for it not to backfire.

I went straight into my room and I awaited for the show to begin. I was getting impatient when I suddenly opened the door and Sandra’s eyes met mine as she was also stepping out of her room.

“So you are home and you couldn’t come to greet me like you did in the morning,” Sandra said and she continued ranting as she walked down the stairs giving me an evîl look.

She suddenly hîssed and with the with speed of light, she went tumbling down the stairs. I screamed and immediately dad and Teddy came rushing into the living room.

Sandra was laying lifeless on the floor. Dad screamed and he dashed towards her. Teddy ran towards his mom on the floor. He held his head as tears began rushing down his eyes.

“Did you push my mom?” Teddy yelled at the top of his voice. I came rushing down the stairs as l was also in tears and calling out Sandra’s name.

Dad suddenly jerked up. He behaved as if he had seen something terrîble. “Are those not banana peels on the staircase?” dad said so calmly.

He stood to his feet as be walked towards the stairs. “Who ate banana?” dad screamed at the top of his voice.

Dad didn’t waste time and he went carrying Sandra up, she had lost consciousness. We rushed out of the house and Mr John came running towards us.

“What Happened to madam?” Mr John asked as he made to open the door to the car, “she stepped on banana peels and fell down,” I said amidst tears.

“Teddy, you were the one ate banana, why were you so careless with the peels?” Mr John said and dad suddenly called out Teddy’s name with a thunderous voice.

Teddy shook violently as tears kept rushing down his eyes. Dad and Mr John got into the car and Teddy ran towards the gate to open it.

He was still crying terrîbly. I watched as everything happened and in no time dad’s car was out of the compound.

Teddy closedesd the gate and he still kept on weeping. I knew what I had done, I had secretly taken some banana peels while we were in the car. But I never expected Sandra would fall and pass out.

I prayed in my mind that she shouldn’t dîe. I was scared to dèath. I prayed things won’t go wrong.
