That Night episode 11

THAT NIGHT

Episode 11

Peculiar’s p.o.v

Mr. Marvin connected her to her Dad’s business associates who helped grow her company into an empire in a space of one year. Frank sent her out of the house which her Dad gave to them as a wedding gift and divorced her the moment his mistress gave birth to a baby boy.

Annie became an unhappy woman and buried herself in her work but that didn’t reduce her pain. She followed Frank on social media and watched him produce three lovely kids while she couldn’t even have one, she watched him become happy with her father’s sweat, she watched another coolvalstories woman reap what she sowed.

In the space of ten years, her company became of the biggest in the country. Men wanted to date her but she wasn’t ready to open her heart to love again, she wasn’t ready to be tagged a barren woman again.

The pain and unhappiness in her resulted in depression which made her paralyzed, she spent a lot to make her normal again but it didn’t seem to work. A lot of pastors came to pray for her still she remained the same, some pastors even stole from her while some sold bottles of anointing oil and holy water at exorbitant prices.

She lost hope of getting better and resulted in fate. She got someone to run her company on her behalf but he ended up squandering her money. She then had to allow her Dad’s best friend to run the company in her absence.

Listening to her story brought tears to my face, I thought I was the one with the worst life challenge not until I met Mrs. Annie. I still wonder why a beautiful woman with a heart of gold had to go through such betrayal. The painful aspect is that the wicked man who betrayed her is living happily. What an irony of life, the wicked enjoy life while the good ones suffer.

Mrs. Annie became the mother I never had while I became the child she never had, I also told her about my story and she encouraged me not to give up on life because I was destined to be great.
The sweetest part of the story is that she met Christ while listening to a preacher on the TV.

Mrs. Annie’s fiftieth birthday was approaching and I decided to celebrate it for her in a way she never imagined, I ordered a cake online, decorated the house, and bought expensive wines.

Very early that day, I woke her up with a birthday song then took her to the sitting room after cleaning her up. Being surprised was an understatement, she wept while praying for me.

To my surprise, she started getting better after her fiftieth birthday, she began to lift her two hands. Oh, I was so happy. I thought she was getting better, I never knew she was relocating to the great beyond.

Two months after the birthday, she sat me down one evening and started speaking strangely to me, she encouraged me to keep being a well-behaved lady. I appreciated her and promise to keep her advice to heart.

I woke up the following day to go clean her up only to meet her lifeless, I tried to wake her but it didn’t work, I prayed that God should revive her but that didn’t happen. Again, I was shattered as my only hope and friend has gone to the great beyond.

I informed the doctor who sent an ambulance to convey her body to the hospital’s mortuary where her body was prepared for burial. Her burial was attended by the doctor, her workers, her Dad’s business associates, and I. I can say that hers was an unfulfilled life.

After her burial, her lawyer read her will and in the will, she said that her company will be handed over to me and renamed ANNIE-PECU while I will be accountable to Mr. Marvin.

She asked that her money in the bank be divided into three, apart for Mr. Marvin, the second for me, and the third be given to the less privileged in the society. We followed her instructions and I became the CEO of ANNIE-PECU petrochemical company, within a few months, I was able to make it an empire that no other petrochemical company can compete with.

Edwin: hmmm! What a tale. Life and its ups and downs, even the rich also cry. Who would have believed a wealthy lady like that went through such tough life challenges

Me: I thought only the poor cry but when I met Mrs. Annie, my perception changed. I miss her you know

Edwin: why won’t you miss her?

Me: so, how have you been? How is mom? How is life generally?

Edwin: Life has been good, mom is doing well for herself just that she can’t help but worry about you

Me: wow! I love that woman, you are blessed with a wonderful mother

Edwin: you can say that again

Me: So tell me, how is married life treating you?

Edwin: marriage? I am still single. Have you forgotten that I had a soft spot for you back then?

Me: oh come off it Eddie, it’s been five years, you should have moved on

Edwin: moved on? You went away with a part of me. Stop pretending you never loved me

Me: yea, I agree I loved you then but we are ways apart then. You were a decent guy while I was a bruised lady

Edwin: come off it, you knew I was ready to accept you the way you were.

Me: I want to meet your mom, can I do that today??

Edwin: thank you for changing the topic. Yes, you can still see her today

Me: that will be great, let’s get going so that I would go back home on time.

Edwin’s p.o.v

Peculiar did not know the pain she is causing me. I have been unable to fall in love with anyone else because she has stolen my heart, it is obvious she loved and still loves me but she isn’t just ready to get committed to me. Only God knows how long I will have to wait before she gives me a chance.

Since she decided to see my mom then I think it’s time I also tell her the truth I had kept away from her, I just hope she would take it well.
