Diary of a single mother 24.
“Do you really love me?”. I asked my Boss.
“This where most women make mistakes. Telling you I love you doesn’t mean anything, this why most men take advantage of women because they know the words women like to hear. Chinyere, do you know what you should be looking out for?”. My Boss asked.
“What sir?”. I asked.
“You should look out on how I treat you. Does my actions portray love? Do I respect you as my woman? Am I kind to you? Am I sensitive to your emotions? You need to pay attention to how I treat you, that’s how you will know if I love you or not. So, how do I treat you?”. He asked.
“You are kind to me sir. You are very understanding and patient. You treat me with respect”. I answered.
“The day I stop treating you with respect or when I am unkind to you, just know that there’s something wrong”. He said
“Thank you sir for finding me worthy of your love”. I said.
“Come here”. He beckoned on me and I went.
“You are worthy of every good thing. What’s up with you and sir you this girl? ๐ My name is Steve but you should call me Obim”. He said whilst smiling.
“What will you be calling me? Chi ๐ก?” I teased.
“I will be calling you my baby because you will be my baby girl for life. I will love you just like Christ loved the church”. He said.
He pulled me to himself and gave me a long warm hug. I was thinking he was going to kiss me but he never did.
“When can I see your parents?”. He asked.
“Ahhh! Is it not too early?”. I asked.
“I can’t wait to make you mine”. He answered.
When I got home that day, I sat my mom down and told her about Steve.
“Mummy, I will be getting married soon”. I said
“Marriage Kwa?”. My mum said and started laughing.
“Is frank now ready to marry you?”. She asked.
“It’s not frank, it’s another man”. I replied.
My mom just kept on laughing. She thought I was just blabbing.
“Tell him to come and show himself to us on Sunday na and see if he won’t go into hiding ๐”. She said.
