Sofia and Ekene episode 5

#Sophia_and_Ekene_ (Part 5)
It seemed a very long night for Sophia at the hotel as she roamed about quietly in dismay searching for answers to many unanswered questions.

Ginika failed to show up again since she strolled out. She had to monitor every action within the surrounding meticulously and conscientiously.

Sophia was wary of CCTV cameras.

Soon, one of the Hotel staff caught her wandering about in an awkward manner.
The staff reported her movements to one of the hotel’s security personnel because it seemed unusual.

The security personnel approached Sophia but she actually acted smart and precise.
She was able to diffuse the tension without raising an eyebrow. He left on mutual grounds

Sophia decided to check up on Obyno at the bar but it seemed he had retired to his room.
She was relieved to an extent. She went inside her room and remained down-to-earth as she kept a close watch on her leads.

Whilst inside her room figuring out things, she kept opening the door slowly whenever she feels the need to do that.

But there was no breakthrough. She felt weak and about to be demonized by this wonder-man named Ekene!

The thought of him weakened her the more. She had remembered their good times together. Most especially the strong bonding together via video calls on daily basis.

It was beautiful and lovely. Against her principles, she was already feeling like a wife to him and so on – she had hoped he becomes the man in charge of her affairs on the long run.

What else could she think of when on certain weekends, they did video calls from morning till evening.

Moreso, She spoke with his mother on two separate occasions. Then, he had travelled to Onitsha where his family was based. And his mum seemed kindhearted and simple, judging from there brief conversation.

Or, could it be that Ekene had been whining and playing her all along. Maybe it was never her mum that she spoke with but the voice she heard over the phone proved otherwise – it was an elderly and motherly voice.

She thought of calling her but she had remembered that her number wasn’t on her phone and even if it’s there – it will
be very difficult for her to do so presently.

The more she reminisced over all of it – the more depressed it gets for her.

Sophia was overtly ready to murder her sleep that night but her human nature began to respond to stimulus. She couldn’t continue with her watch. The urge to sleep became intense and uncontrollable.

She was hearing sounds again from that room and this time around – it seemed somebody was p******g yam or something similar – She couldn’t figure out anything again as sleep had overpowered her.

She couldn’t resist the urge as she descended into another world immediately.

It was indeed a very long night for Sophia but sleep was able to fix things up for her to an extent even though it wasn’t the actual plan. But her mental and emotional health needed it.

In the morning, she woke up to dozens of calls and text messages, but to her greatest surprise non of the calls migrated from Ekene, and she can’t even imagine any to come from Ginika after their encounter at the hotel. But half of them belonged to Obyno.

Obyno had come Knocking since early morning but no answers. He had an emergency to attend somewhere, Warri precisely.

He wants to know her plans for the day so that he can drop her off and bid farewell.

Sophia became confused as she couldn’t figure out a better and concise response. She was in limbo – torn in between anger, dissapointments and regrets.

She called Obyno and informed him that she was tyding up her things and will be down shortly. Although, she apologized for the inconveniences. Obyno was now seated at the reception waiting for her.

Then, she made up her mind to go but will not allow Obyno drop her at the airport. She will drop along the road on the premise that her aunt will come get her from there. And as soon as Obyno is gone, she will reprogram immediately and find her way to the airport or whatever. She was mad, wild and boiling.

Then, as she was preparing to leave the room, she had noises from that next room again and again – that same room Ginika emerged from earlier, but this time around, the two occupants seemed to be chattering about like two young lovers whose relationship seemed fresh and new.

As she came out, she stared at the door consecutively and was about knocking before another thought restrained her from doing so.

She had wanted to confront Ginika if she was still inside the room but she remembered that karma is real and nature always have a way of playing it’s role whenever people play ‘hide and seek’ – she decided to let the sleeping dog lie. She booted out immediately.

Walking down the hotel via the staircase, she felt like going back to think properly before going back to Kaduna but again – she felt there was nothing to think back anymore.
It happened and it has happened and what what must be, must be!

Whilst lost in thoughts oblivious of figures around her, she had approached the reception.

She looked around in search of Obyno immediately. She found him seated comfortably but he wasn’t alone.

He had got a female and male company.

And it turned out to be Ginika and Ekene seated apart with Obyno in the middle.

Sophia nearly fell off her feet.

But they all smiled at her as she was reeling in confusing and bewilderment.

She looked back as if she was trying to recollect if it wasn’t this same Ginika whom she saw coming out of that noisy room earlier in the night but she was further plunged into another round of confusion – she sighted that same Ginika stepping down with a man and they were all loved up together.

She kept staring at them but the two couples minded their business, they bypassed her and by the time they moved farther – Ekene, Obyno, and Ginika seated at the reception geared towards them.

They exchanged pleasantries, and now – the two Ginikas hugged each other affectionately albeit surprisingly. And it seemed the two couples weren’t aware of their presence or better still – not part of the game plan.

They discussed in whispers. The couple left afterwards.

Then it dawned on her that Ginika is a twin and she has never met or even heard about Ginika’s twin sister. No wonder she acted strange earlier because they have never met each other before.

Sophia, itching for explanations desperately felt relieved inwardly as Ekene approached her. He held her hands but she ‘yanked’ it off immediately in a way and manner that left Ekene and others smiling mockingly.

She sat down quietly and in total control now amidst clowning smiles from Ginika and Obyno.

It was Kamsy – Ginika’s twin sister and they were identical twins. She was not informed as she only met Ginika coincidentally, and they never met again or spoke to each other untill a day earlier. Ekene had introduced Ginika in absentia albeit hastily.

Kamsy, Ginika’s twin got married last Saturday and had been on honey moon with her hubby at the hotel ever since.

Then, it was revealed to her that Obyno and Ekene were cousins but were not really that close untill Obyno returned from Bangkok, Thailand.

Ekene had planned to solidify his relationship with Sophia during her visit but got nervous and aroused when Obyno figured out that Sophia was his University mate and a die-hard crush for that matter.

Obyno had made the revelations during their brotherly interactions and entanglements albeit boastfully.

Although, he had lost contact with Sophia owing to length of time and conditions but Ekene decided to exploit it to his advantage.

Sometimes, a man needed to exercise adequate carefulness and restraints in union matters in a bid to avoid family scandals in future irrespective of the love within – especially as he and Sophia lived miles and rivers apart.

Earlier, Ekene had wanted to play a prank on Sophia with Kamsy and Ginika – the twin sisters hence he didn’t tell Sophia anything about Kamsy. but that particular prank changed at Obyno’s revelations. It was replaced with another one with Obyno as the central actor.

He did well overtly and covertly. Imagine Sophia had been lying to Obyno about whom she had come to visit in Asaba. And the mischievous Obyno taried along with her lies as if he doesn’t know anything.

Before then, Ekene had made series of enquires about Sophia behind her back. He had a certain revelation about her but didn’t reveal it to her – he kept it very close to his chest.

It was on this premise that a plan was hatched and executed with the help of Obyno and Ginika. Kamsy and her hubby were not captured in the scheme of things for some private reasons.

Sophia emerged the hero of the day as she performed creditably well and even beyond expectations.

Obyno and Ginika had already told Ekene earlier in the night that Sophia was his wife and if he stumbles – he might regret it for the remainder of his life.

Then, Sophia maintained a stern face outwardly but inwardly, she was happy with the turn of events – and for the game, it seemed dicey but acceptable to an extent because trust is necessary to avoid suspicion on the long run.

Ekene had prepared an engagement party the night Sophia will be leaving Asaba. He kept it to himself. He kept staring at Sophia and she kept on making faces.

Now, he couldn’t wait for another day or moment to pass by as he knelt down there and then to the surprise of all and sundry. He had seen it all. He came prepared without informing anyone of his inner motives.

He needed not to wait any longer. The revelation he had about Sophia earlier was an opener – delay became ‘costly’ dangerous on his part.

He proposed to Sophia. It was a beautiful sight to be behold, many people felt happily and lovingly oppressed even Obyno and Ginika.

But then, Sophia created a scene.

She began throwing punches at Ekene.

But it turned out to be punches of ‘ Goodwill ‘ delivered out of joy, happiness and peace of mind – it had been a very long day and night – the longest ever in a lifetime. it had paid off – as she earned the undiluted trust of a man that will cherish her for the rest of her life.

She said, “YES!”.

The climax of it all!

On their wedding night, Sophia had inquired jokingly from Ekene why he had allowed Obyno, his cousin to chose that particular room very close to a couple on honey moon…

“they nearly tore each other apart that night…”, she concluded affectionately..

Ekene laughed incessantly and asked her if she was indirectly and ironically reminding him to tear someone’s daughter apart that night..

“Yes oooh”, she ehoed..

” hmmmmmmm! I don’t really know why women love violence indirectly…”

Ekene whispered into her ear as he clapped into her and they descended into the journey of unmixed joy and pleasure.
