#Sophia_and_Ekene_ (part 3)
In the gathering gloom, the prelude to darkness, Sophia wandered around the airport premises in despair.
Communications with Ekene remained in deadlock. She was once upbeat and hopeful but recent events have connived to deter her mind. She was beginning to lose confidence in Ekene’s credibility.
Then, she remembered Ginika, one of Ekene’s distant relation whom she met coincidentally some months ago – same day she met Ekene.
Although, she had agreed earlier with Ekene to surprise her with her presence but recent events forced her to make a U-turn.
She contacted Ginika. But she was out of town. She had travelled to PH for a friend’s wedding. She seemed happy and promised to get back to her within minutes.
Ginika called back as promised but was rather withdrawn this time. She sounded like one who was helping to hide a brother’s crime.
But she can’t get hold of what was going on in particular.
Ginika had insinuated that she couldn’t reach Ekene due to one thing or the other.
However, in order to be on the safer side as it was getting darker, she had advised her to look for a nearby hotel and lodge temporarily while she keeps making enquires about Ekene’s whereabouts.
Sophia was now very sure that Ekene was not in any form of danger but was dealing with some fallouts enginneerd by her sudden arrival – remember Ekene was expecting her on Saturday evening as they had agreed earlier but out of joy and wild expectations she had come earlier than expected via flight on a Friday evening.
Whilst lost in thoughts, her phone started ringing but it turned out to be Obyno and not Ekene – he had promised to call earlier just to check up on her.
She felt hugely disappointed as it wasn’t the call she was anticipating. She didn’t pick, and he kept calling.
Then, her mind began tilting towards Obyno but she shrugged it off immediately.
She made up her mind to retire to a nearby hotel but she needed someone like Obyno to provide assistance in locating an affordable hotel due to his mobility and know-how and past relationship – he wasn’t a stranger at all.
She had agreed to yield to Obyno’s calls whenever he calls again but unfortunately, the young man never called again – and it was very typical of him.
She refused to call him back, and it was because her inner mind didn’t approve it – she would rather wait for him to call again.

Meanwhile, momentarily, Sophia fell into a trance. She was tired and exhausted after a long day with high hopes and now, uncertainties.
She didn’t know when she closed her eyes because she was imagining many things.

Then, she had a bad day at work place and it was because of a disappointment. Someone she trusted had broken her trust in a manner she couldn’t comprehend.
Her heart was shredded into pieces. She couldn’t concentrate on anything at all. She made some errors in the office which nearly compromised her lifespan at workplace.
She was relieved of her duties just for the day. And it was because she was a first time offender.
She was asked to go home and come back the next day.
She was highly regarded in the office due to her expertise, punctuality and dedication to her duties.
She came back home and locked herself indoors for the remainder of the day.
Her phone kept ringing but she didn’t bother to attend to it. She was hugely disappointed in herself.
Her job was her pride and never wanted to be separated from it in such a manner even if it’s for a second.
She slept off. It was a long sleep. She woke up in the morning to behold someone knocking repeatedly.
Then, she hurriedly to the door and by the time she opened it, and the intruder turned out to be Obyno.
On the other horizon, it appeared she was dating Obyno then.
Happening in quick successions, Obyno knelt down and proposed to her there and then.
But before she could come to terms with what was going on, she had regained consciousness – and found out that she had fallen into a trance.
***
She felt heavily burdened after the encounter.
However, she opened the Bible app on her phone and turned to the book of Isaiah chapter 43, and read from verse 2-3.
Sophia felt entirely new after the reading.
She returned to the reality on ground but Obyno was all she could think of presently.
Ekene was gradually turning into a villain on Sophia’s screen but she doesn’t want to give up entirely on him because he might be battling forces greater than him.
But she only thought of that – for humanity sake because – deep down in her mind “all was well with this Ekene of a guy”
Since the dream had happened and Obyno is now in the scheme of things, she had decided not to call him but wait for nature and fate to play its role – he should locate him anyhow in one way or the other.
On this footing, Sophia braved up and made her way into the main road. She will set things up herself although expecting a dramatic turn-around of events on the way.

She boarded a taxi and after covering some distances, a Toyota Camry (pencil light) double-crossed the taxi signaling it to stop, and when it stopped; its occupant turned out to be Obyno.
Sophia heaved a sigh of relief at the sight of him.
“This very man again!”
She exclaimed inwardly.
Staring at each other, Obyno paid the taxi driver and they zoomed off together after they had offered some individual explanations.
